I think the best solution for this would actually be to have something like appareantly CONTROVERSIAL like PTSD-like symptoms. We could simply call it paranoia or something like that to prevent insulting people. Think about it, even hardened soldiers can suffer from this condition. The effect in the game should be very mild though but lets just assume you go on a killing spree and kill 8 people in a row every day then it will become very annoying to deal with. Ways it could be simulated in the game, then will not be overly dramatic: - Loud hearbeat drowning out other sounds, like a shellshock dampening effect. - Gunshots and footsteps etc. infrequently sound louder than normal - Gunshots can make the edges of the screen have a black fade thingy that gives you a little tunnel vision - Uncontrollable shaking while aiming with a gun - Screen may blur when you are supressed Alot of people can go around here saying, but nooo i want to be a psycopath maniac who kills 20 people on a daily basis and cannibalize them without any effects to my sanity at all because that is authentic as I would also be able to do this in reality. Well no, not really. Some other effects not related to ptsd but just general paranoia would be: - Seeing phantom players/animals/cars/helicopters in the distance - Hearing phantom helicopter/car/zombie/gunshot sounds Now before you start saying that things like blurry screens are not realistic, how else do you want to represent these things in a game where you can only make us of imagery or sound. This is just pretty much the only way to simulate paranoia/disorientation. All of these things i listed above would not have to happen every few minutes but maybe just a chance of happening every half hour or so. And there is also offcourse the chance that you kill 8 people in a row and don't get any side effects at all if every kill would yield a certain percentage of adding insanity/paranoia.

But this was the first game I ever knew of that used a stealth approach to zombies, firing your gun would make you hear them thus making it harder for people to just shoot eachother on sight because a whole horde of zombies would get onto you. That was the intended design I believe, kind of took the cliche zombies and gave them more of a purpose other than being NPC enemies.

Lower quality weapons should get damaged even more when they overheat, but honestly I have no idea what weapon in this game could actually overheat. You should have a lot of ammo and deliberately non-stop fire with an m4 to make it overheat? Why would a proper rifle overheat after firing a whole magazine? I would think damaged weapons jamming or low quality cartridge having somesort of drawback, maybe when you tape two magazines together with damaged tape it can get loose and fall off. Things like that. I recon you would have to get a LMG with 200 bullets to make something overheat so bad it would damage the gun, and I don't really expect that to be in the game.

Thing is killing for loot is just pretty useless, either you are going to have a lot better stuff than the other guy or you have somekind of terrain advantage. I don't think i've seen a lot of fair battles in this game, given that there is nothing else to do sure but i'd rather play arma 3 or something than playing this for 500 hours and thinking you are good at shooting people lal. -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?

Indeed in reality some people fall of a stairs and die and other fall 40 meters from a building and survive. Killing someone with a crossbow bolt should be slower than a bullet but in reality the arrow would also impair your movement a lot more than a bullet would in first instance (if it passes through) and a bullet would cause a lot more bleeding i guess. I really hope they plan to make people fall over or something when shot in the leg and drop their weapon when shot in the shoulder or arm, things like that. And arrows should be removed before you can do anything else. -
Because I thought DayZ was supposed to be an anti-game, not the game people think it is supposed to be.

22 DayZ backgrounds at 1080p. I was typing everything in hidden tags and such but hit the back button of my mouse accidentally so just click the link lazy. I will add more to the gallery, action is a little hard to capture though. Not really have the time to take a good angle and such in a battle >.<

I know I was doing that but then I accidentally hit the back button on my mouse when I was trying to post it, I didn't feel like doing it over =p Thanks most of them are the actual ingame lighting i've only changed the contrast and brightness of a few of them. I never understand why people want this game to look prettier lol xD

Yeah okay like that, I get your point but maybe it would be a thing to make clusters or something that would share the same charachter. Also private server sounds like there would be a whitelist and password or something (which is also fine by me but sometimes kind of awkward). Thing this that you gotta admit this whole timer solutions feels like a quick and dirty fix for something that requires a little more attention then just slapping a penalty on it. Again not implying that server hoppers shouldn't be punished because it is annoying.

Yes exactly what I was thinking, rust has a bunch of naked men running around in it (not women?) so why can't we have this. Yeah I don't think a few people realize what they bought, I expect the actual finished product to be totally different from what it is right now. A lot less PvP, a lot more to do with zombies and the environment and managing your charachter.

Heh, you can gear up in two or three hours and then go to a military thing two or three times and bang you're the man. Especially in a low pop servers, not sure if you understand the point of this game.

Considering however that the virus is maybe somekind of rabies it would be intresting to have infected dogs and other animals.

Yes I know I have a 7950 OC so basically a 7970 stock (And yes that is still a high end card I don't care about your 800 dollar 780 cards) and I still have massive framedrops. -

I like this whole idea of you being the charachter and all but you can obviously only have so much immersion in to a game and if you really wanted to make it authenthic or realistic as dean says he wants than he has to consider throwing in some characteristics because if it will be like this in the final game then your character is just as soulless as the ones in skyrim for example who is just a random Dragonborn-dude/gall who nobody really seems to care about and all the players cares about is just getting the best gear. Whole thing that was always going on in DayZ was that people want everything for themselves, so to counter people killing others and endangering themselves losing their stuff you should give them even more stuff that is theirs, something that is unique to their character and is very hard to aquire in the game. Also the trailer showed that you could commit suicide, or it hinted at it as an option at least. I think it should be nerfed like hell to keep people from just killing themselves because they spawned in the east or something. It's either that or making all parts of the map equally intresting which can be an option but my suggestion would be to just make military loot very scarce and ammo very random so you are forced to take a look at other places. If we want this game to become anything different from the mod, which is basically arma 2 with a touch of paranoia than we should force the game rules upon them harder instead of letting them take total control. -
1-4 Alpher 5 So? You one of those people who can only function when you are spawned at the airfield with a fully saturated barrack or something? True randoms can get at the same point multiple times.

On another note, there have actually been people that have survived falls from over 10 meters. Doesnt happen often but appareantly you can still be alive after that, it's kind of hard to get this realistic fall damage to work in the game i guess. By the way, regarding it having no pyshics or anything yet or that they might still be coming... couldn't they just use Havok?

It can't take screenshots when holding ALT with steam, this is not the higest setting its a high/low mix for performance.
