What did you think of the name DayZ when you first saw it? I actually thought i stood for Day Zero, although it means Day Zombie? (not sure) Or is there actually no real word for the Z part. Anyway, i thought Day Zero because it also kind of makes sense, it sounds like a subtle reference to the survival aspect. (Also the arma thing that counts the days or something always says Day 0 :D.) And yes this might be a bit of a stupid thread.

This made me realize how convenient my second screen is =p I'm not sure what i would do all the player encounter i've had were very unlucky and ended up with me dying without being able to do anything. I would've probably shot him, i never shot anybody before so... (Appereantly i am good at hiding from others or something) Pity you lost him, would've been fun to stalk someone xD

Some new zombie suggestions; Southern Zeds: The normal zombies as they are now, they only run slightly faster than players (not at this superspeed that launches them off cliffs.). They only spawn south. Northern Zeds: These zombies run superfast, hit harder and have a greater chance to make they're target bleed. They only spawn north. Horde: a horde of 10-20 slow walking zombies, when aggro'd they will come towards you but not as fast as the regular walkers. (35% of that or higher) Wanderer: A lonely zombie that spawns in the forest. his skin is covered with moss and plants etc. so he is camouflaged. When he is aggro'd he will not try to run towards you but will go prone using his camouflage to conceal himself. He will wait for you to come near enough so he can charge you or when you pass by he will stand up and stalk you in crouch mode. Nightcrawler: Only like 10-20 of these spawn in one single night per server, they are naked zombies with a pitch black skin. Instead of moving slowly around they run through the forests and open places. When they see a player they will like the wanderer go prone if they (the players) are looking in their direction. The nightcrawler will then attempt to sneak up on the player and attack him. Infestor: Like normal zombies only with a big belly full of filthy whatever. Besides vomiting once in a while leaving a pile of infective goo they can also use their vomit as an attack to instantly infect players. (This also regards an idea that you have a chance to get infected by a normal zombie, which will turn you into a zombie overtime if you do not find medicine) Mutant: A three meter high mutation of five zombies, they will take alot of bullets before they go down due to their bodymass. They are alot easier to take down by using explosives. When aggro'd they will come towards you with the same speed as a horde. When they are aggro'd amongst a group of zombies they can choose to devour one of them to regain some of their health. Note that these spawn more frequently in northern locations and high-tier loot locations, and there will only spawn one of them at a time. They are something like a high-tier boss.

I actually thought about it and everyone seems to disagree with the wanderer, so i guess that instead of hordes spawning in cities they could spawn all around the world and wander around places (kind of like migration groups mentioned in another idea i read here). They would obviously also wander through open fields and forests like this, making the zombie spread bigger instead of having it fixated on towns only. I actually ment this to be a creature that only were present with 2-3 per server, and then only at the NWA, Stary Sobor and other highlight places where you could get military stuff. To make those places more challenging. Yeah that was generally the idea. The appareance is just to make them creepy and unusual so you know it's a nightcrawler instead of a normal zombie... although that insecurity might make you even more paranoid. I don't know if there will be random spawns, it kind of depends on that. But i see a solution in making army zombies being stronger with their bulletproof jackets and all. Yeah well at any rate i would like to see the crawling zombies without legs, it would give them a reason actually crawl. (Sure they have their legs broken but you know its a zombie game) But regarding that anyone doesnt want any special zombies makes me have a very small amount of options... regarding this subject the word "modest" comes to mind rather than "authentic". As in not overdoing things... This is what i mean...

Haha, i know about starcraft =p i just needed a placeholder name and infector isn't even a word i think so... Wait what, rocket himself said that the infected are not dead/undead. They are infected, but the infection itself is a mutation, because they don't behave like normal humans anymore. So you can assume the mutation process is very fast because appareantly almost everyone is a zombie. So why should the infected not mutate further overtime?

I agree with this actually because i don't even really listen to their sounds anymore, i know they make these sounds all the time so i go about my bussiness. the only thing i do is look around me all the time and only trust on what i see rather than what i hear. It's logical that they would be moaning when idle, and scream out in excitement when they chase you. Although random screams (when idle) would certainly be a cool addition. -
Well, rocket reffered to the zombies/infected as an apex predator right? So you don't know where you are and what the hell is going on or for how long the world has been infected, it's quite (fictionally =p) possible for predators like these to evolve/mutate into things like these. Either way i may agree that the infestor and mutant might be a bit too much but i think the rest is fine. Wouldn't it be fucking scary knowing that a pitch-black thing might be stalking you in the night?

It's not that i don't like criticism on my suggestion but you shouldn't use realism as an argument in anything regarding zombies. I understand that the human part of this mod is realistic with food and hunger and all but how can zombie possibly be realistic. Zombies/infected are total fiction. The main point of the wanderer and nightcrawler btw is to keep players paranoid, that what this game did to me at first and still does a little bit but they will make it much scarier especially at night. Btw it might actually be another idea to make wanderers turn into nightcrawlers at night and turn back into wanderers at day. And don't think suggestions like this would turn DayZ into left 4 dead, that game had 500 zombies cramped up in a map 50 times smaller than that of dayz and it would take a horde of 20+ zombies to take you down effectively. If this mod retains the realism aspect of the humans then things like this could work out, or i at least hope i inspired someone to make them more varied in appereance/abilities.

On the noise thing, i think zombies should first check out the source of the noise. But when they go there they should instead of run like a maniac, walk there the normal slow way. But the gunfire will have a much bigger range, so firing a gun will cause like 20 zombies to slowly come over to your position meaning you need to loot and relocate. Offcourse the ones that are close enough are going to run your way. (Don't know if they already do this kind of thing) Could use smell when you've ran awhile, making you smell like sweat offcourse. Running through water would make this dissapear. (could also use a watterbottle or something to mask the smell) But i think the best idea considering smell might be to make zombies smell the blood of someone that is bleeding. So imagne a survivor running towards you trying to get the zombies of his back, but it isn't going to work when he is bleeding becuase that makes him a priority target. Guess you could make zombies in the north stronger than the one's in the south, although i'm not sure... i kind of expect this to have random spawns sometime... Infection sounds good, maybe you could turn into somekind of special zombie and kill other players. Although the infection chance should not be that high, it should take quite a while and the medicine should not be available only at high-tier loot places. As for stamina, i've also thought about this. What's up with my guy running all the time and not getting tired. But walking is a very important part of the game and you need to get somewhere as quickly as possible because the map is very big. -
lol the first one is tristram from diablo 3. I didn't even notice the survive text in the fourth one.

Game purchase only. Studio developed (That means you do still look at community suggestions right =p ?) Both studio and community servers, but just have a few standard studio servers and have the majority be community. I don't know what this kickstarter thing is but don't do it if they are going to "have a say" or something...

I was going to suggest to make players unable to loot their former dead selves, but i guess friends could then do it for them. Then i was going to suggest that all the stuff that was from the dead player cant be used by him anymore (at least that day). But i guess it's all a bit weird... because yeah looting your dead body is weird... not being able to loot something or wear something that was from your former self is also weird. But i think this is a pretty big group exploit. dead is dead, and your stuff should be gone. I don't care if you're in a group, and i don't care if it's just a game . It's just a stupid way of endlessly being alive without having anything to loose. There should be some way they could make this work right.

I understand the advantage of a group, but i read about this guy that died and had his buddy camp on his body to make sure he could get his stuff back. I don't think this is meant to be part of the game. Really takes away the thrill of dying and losing everything, yeah death should be even more hardcore like 24 hours or something

Thing is offcourse that a zombie infestation through bites is impossible to occur worldwide. It won't let a whole nation fall into chaos either, it would probably be over before it can spread throughout a whole continent. And if it's spreading through the air then we are probably all fucked, but i don't see that crossing the pacific ocean either. -
Am I just having a lot of problems or what, one time i died seeing some dead guy walking into a wall all the time (don't know what killed me might be a sniper)... saw a zombie go prone and dissapear, found a camosuit that i wore that was gone the other day, one time a zombie warped in front of my face and killed me instantly, and another camosuit that i tried to wear warped me into water and back into the house i was again to leave me swimming in the floor, i log back of and on and all my items are gone. I also have this waiting for host thing endlessly when trying to join a hotfix server through sixlauncher. I didn't see it update either. The thing is that everything went fine until these kind of things started to happen to me, or is this just general randomness? Also, what's up with nights in some servers being brigther while others are pitch-black? Is that because of recruit and veteran difficulty?

Oh okay, it's just that it becomes hard sometimes to tell what is a bug and what the hell is actually happening on screen. Wouldn't it be handy to have something for debugging purposes that says "you were killed by <weaponname>" so that you can see if it's actually a weapon, zombie or a bug that killed you.

I was watching a zombie while sneaking through elektro, suddenly he decided to go prone. So that was kind of strange, but when i got to where he was... there was nothing! he was gone! *x-files theme*

Yeah i also thought about writing something like this although if i keep dying by glitching through a wall or something then it wouldn't really end properly.

Mh might not have been that extreme with me there were still towns... i did walk north though and there's an awfull lot of forests.
