  3. I've got a relatively new Epoch server, and I have users reporting issues with door locks. Locks on regular wooden doors on small and large wooden walls definitely work. Locks on garage doors don't seem to work. I have a player that's been struggling with this. Right now, after a restart, his locks are gone off the door. In the database I can see that the door is assigned to his character Id. He'll put the lock on it and write down the code, but the code won't work. If I check the database i'll see that the door is now assigned to a character id of 0. I've also seen an issue with a cinderblock garage door where it won't allow me to upgrade it with a lock. The door is up in the world, I mouse wheel it and hit upgrade, and i get an error, which i had written down and appear to have lost. Everything else seems to be working. Guys are building the crap out of everything. Any ideas?

Issue with door locks on my server?

Ok i've got the fix for my case. My server host had the wrong version of server_swapObject.sqf on my server. I downloaded the official 1.0.3.1 server files and ran a differential between the server_swapObject.sqf on my server and the one that comes in the default server files, and they were very different. I confirmed that the server_swapObject.sqf file in my server PBO didn't have anything custom script related in it, then replaced it with the one from the default server PBO and confirmed that it fixed the issue. The file is located in dayz_server > compile

DayZ Epoch Help (Can't put lock on door)

I believe this is related to an issue i'm seeing on my server that we're looking heavily into. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/163482-issue-with-door-locks-on-my-server/

Issue with door locks on my server?

Ok, we've confirmed conclusively that if we build the door and put the lock on it BEFORE placing it, while everything is still in our inventory, the door works properly. If we upgrade a door into a locked door while it's already placed in the world, it does not work. The lock can't be unlocked and disappears on restart. This is apparently because the database isn't being updated from "Item" to "ItemLocked' once the object has already been placed...but why? Edit: Looking around the interwebs, this looks like a variation of an issue other people have seen where objects say "Not Setup Yet" or can be upgraded but downgrade themselves on a server restart if they upgrade it after it was already placed. I see a few posts on this problem but not solution. Also, i've just recalled an incident where I had a wall downgrade itself after restart after I had upgraded it to a wall w/ window. It's likely a symptom of the same problem.

Issue with door locks on my server?

I'm also investigating the possibility that the doors work if built all the way up inside the player's inventory, but are broken if upgraded to a locked door while already in the world. Still testing it. Has anyone seen either of these potential issues?

Sorry, should have specified. Will edit OP. It's Epoch.

    M4A3 CCO Question.

Oh I see, so from what I understand, you're saying that the effect of the raised bullet strike is more pronounced when using SD magazines? That makes sense. Like you said earlier, an SD round (Subsonic ammo) would decrease the effective range of the weapon. Therefore, to be zeroed at 300 meters, you'd be aimed even higher at shorter ranges than you would with normal ammo. I don't really know how realistic bullet drop is modeled in this game, and i'm not a ballistics ammo, but based on what general knowledge I have it makes sense at a glance to me. Also, I think something is wonky right now with zombies aggroing because of weapons being fired. My group ended up firing off an M4 with normal Stanag ammo, an FN Fal, and a Revolver all within 50-60 meters of a large group of zombies without aggroing everything. This was after one of those zombies saw me crouched, still, behind a tree, and ran over to say hi :/

    Save my character?

Free protip that's relevant to this discussion: Make sure that when you log out you do it somewhere safe. Preferably hiding somewhere out of reach of where zombies typically spawn (like in a forest or something). When you load the game your character will appear before you can actually see or do anything, thus making you vulnerable to zombies and players that happen to be around you.

How Do You Initially Gear Up?

I've always run to Berezino during an off-peak time but I think next time I die i'm going to try to find a griefer to axe murder.

    M4A3 CCO Question.

What the guy was trying to describe in the drawing is that if a weapon is Zeroed for 300 meters, bullet strike will be high at any range closer than 300 meters, and low at an range farther than 300 meters, that's just the way it works because a bullet travels in an arc from the muzzle of the weapon, not a straight line. In the OP you said that you had to aim at the crotch to hit your target, so i'm guessing you were firing at a target that was much closer than 300 meters.

    need help optimising :(

Of the in-game settings, the three that will likely have the biggest performance impacts are Antistropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, and Resolution. I play using a Resolution of 1920x1080 (Interface and 3D) and most of the texture and feature related settings on Normal. I was getting 20-30 fps and a great deal of stutter until I turned Anisotropic Filtering and Anti-Aliasing off. Now I'm getting around 50-60 fps with the same settings, and on this particular game it really doesn't seem to make that big of a difference visually, at least not enough of one to justify the poor performance. One thing that helped me on another game that may help some people on this game (at least those with Nvidia cards) as well is to make sure that your video card's graphic settings have Anti-Aliasing set to "Application Controlled". Otherwise your video card my override your in-game settings, and in some older games that can cause some serious performance issues. My specs: Intel Core i5 2500k nVidia GeForce GTX 550ti 8gb DDR3 Memory Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit For the settings that were shown in the above post, i'd try: Change 3D Resolution to Monitor's Native Resolution Change Anisotropic Filtering to Disabled Change Shadow Detail to Low or Disabled Change HDR Quality to Low If you're using an Nvidia card set Anti-Aliasing to "Application Controlled". Hopefully that'll make things look a little better and squeeze out some more FPS for you.

Fun to done in less than 30 minutes...

Celetrontmm, I don't think "fixing hackers" is just BattleEye's job. BattleEye's job is enforcment. The problem right now is that it's just too easy to hack and/or exploit. There needs to be more controls in place in the game itself. I'm kind of surprised that it's not easy to limit or control the way scripts are injected into the mod. Just that would eliminate most of the problems, but if it was easy they would have fixed it by now. As for the OP...if you purchase a retail game to play a free mod in Alpha or even Beta stage, you're doing so at your own risk. If you end up being unhappy with that purchase it was simply a poor choice on your part.

    Need help please read!!!!

I play with a system that's kind of in you area you're looking Intel I5 2500K nVideo Geforce GTX 550ti 8gb DDR3 memory (i'm sure i could be getting by with 4 for Dayz) I play with these settings: Interface Resolution: 1920 x 1080 3D Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (You can get more frames with a lower resolution, but I like to use my monitor's native resolution) Anti-Aliasing: Off Post Processing Effects: Off Shadows: Off Everything else on Low or Normal, depending on the setting, they don't make a huge impact either way. I get about 50fps. If I turn everything back on to Normal with the Texture stuff all on High I get about 20-30 FPS.
  16. I'm not sure of all the intricacies of the map, but one thing that my group has verified is that if you put marks on the map while in Group Chat, when additional people log on to the server they can see those marks that you put. Some other channels may be more secure, but the best bet is not to mark anything on the map you don't wanna lose.

    Coop? Why the hell coop?

I understand the OP's concerns, but here's my take on some of your points. First of all, taking the ability to have premade groups out would be suicide for any game. Clans are an integral part of gaming, if people can't play with their friends the majority will quickly lose interest. It would hamstring the game's ability to draw players, so it won't happen. As for those groups, yes it's unrealistic to be able to contact your buddies that spawned across the coast. However, it would also be unrealistic for everybody in the world during a zombie apocalypse to start alone. There would be groups of people, remnants of military organizations, groups of people that previously wore tinfoil hats and filled their basements full of guns waiting for the day when the dead rose, etc etc. These groups would often be wary of outsiders and may often shoot on sight to protect their friends/families. The fact that a lone survivor has a tougher time than a group is not unrealistic by any stretch. It sucks for those people, but it's true. I also have a hard time believing that KOS is particularly unrealistic to begin with. Unless some sort of policing body developed to stop people from killing other people for their beans, it would happen progressively. People that didn't KOS would be killed by people that did. Eventually there would be more people with a KOS mentality than people without it. No, people probably wouldn't be so quick to go for 600 meter headshots on some guy on a hill that doesn't know they're there...but murder someone in town because they're grabbing the last bottle of water and you desperately need that water? You bet ya. Shoot someone that got too close to your camp and could relay that info to a group that could come still all your beans? No doubt. I do agree with your point that zombies should present a bigger challenge. Most guys in my group sneak around Cherno for a bit after they die, get some good gear, get to the group, find a heli crash, and poof they've got solid equipment. Then they're with the group where survival from the zombies is very easy. The players are the only real threat. It would be nice if zombies were more than just something you had to sneak around and be prepare to kill if you have to fire an unsuppressed weapon in their area.
