  1. we have just got our server running up-to-date, cant say it was smooth, but we are loading in ok, the first thing that hits me is the horrible graphical errors, i am at the nwaf and cant see anything, is there any fixes or things i should do? as currently it is unplayable
  2. ahhh ok i see how it works thank you - btw as hosts of official servers are you not at all worried about the total lost of control being proposed, i mean from what i read its really not looking good for hosts! imo they really want to be carefull as only 10% of host actually host for the benefit of the community the rest all believe it has its advantages for themselves
  3. and if you are the host? ie using private database for training, filming etc and public hosts for actual playing
  4. but say someone runs one of those private db's gets blacklisted, does that mean they cannot play offical servers anymore?
  5. actually it does help development and reporting of bugs alot, as in private servers players dont have to be so selfish and worried about loosing kit and thus can take risks public players would not, this way they will find bugs and given bug reporting primarily goes to the dev-heaven site not here..how is that not helping if the dev team were not so single minded to expect clans and server owners to just treat them like gods and do as they say without question then it would have never come to this. having private games and public hive is wrong and will never happen as yes it would be totally unfair due to how a group can horde kit then use it against other survivors on normal servers. life is full off a plaguerism, i could list hundreds of examples of it, that actually amount to billions of dollars of money, from facebook to jet engines, it is a fact of life. thing i have noticed is the cult support forming around rocket, where if one person dare speak out against him they will be flamed and trolled for it, to the point that it gets off topic and i ask you how is that "for the good of the mod and progress"? some people, especially myself are anti-social and definitely do not want to spend their time off being forced to play with absolute arseholes then there is the pvp aspect that when you decide ok, i will defend myself, they exploit the game mechanics to avoid death, kill you or whatever you know on my public account the enemy for me is not the zombies? weird thought that was the point, ironically its not even the bandits!! i have lived for 2 weeks then been killed by the server dropping me to my death, a nuke type server mass kill, and some stupid lagg/desync on top of a cliff that didnt end good tbh coming from project reality bf, to this, its like i am back in the cod community btw have you noticed any copyrighted material yet? as that would be a death blow to private hive systems and finally.... did rocket not do exactly the same thing when he first starting creating modules, took a game, this instance arma 2 and began making new ways to use it?
  6. With all these private database servers popping up, does blacklisting do anything or does that only stop them being on the hive? I was talking to one server admin who said the only reason he made the private one was because of the wait for a license, i think he intends to join the proper hive when he is finally accepted, but i wonder if he gets blacklisted is he screwing up his chance of ever getting online properly?
  7. I agree that the "deterrent" for loot-farming is a void arguement now with people running 3 slot servers and the "locked for filming" or "testing", we actually got into a testing server and found a guy, the admin, duping using 4 tents just outside stary's military tents surprise surprise when he spotted us we were kicked instantly. my current true belief is that allow us to host private servers how we want, just on our own databases, then no harm done dev's will still get feedback, and newbs wont have a mojor disadvantage in public main hive games

    [Private Database] legal?

i ment legal in terms of rules of a host, i have n't yet seen the copy right stamps for it to become an actual legal issue
  9. I have been seeing more and more servers running their own databases, and i was wondering how is this possible and are they here to stay? I have n't joined any yet as I can't see any point if the dev's are going to come along next week and remove them. Just curious as they could be the solution to rockets anti-clan stance, as well if we made a server, we wouldn't ever leave it! and i am sure alot of other clans would do the same. thus removing large groups of murders from pub'ers Things to consider:- Hackers are becoming more prevalent in public games ie mass killings Clan justice can be harsh and swift, but it is always self contained to their server, so if you screw up, you have to go elsewhere, but you have n't looted an armies worth of kit to take with you...simple. Though the dev's have their own ideas about how this mod should be played, sorry to say, alot have other ideas, situations and operating standards to consider, like cost of a public server vs private (usually they contain password in name anyway) or having clan nights, where it is invitation only, there are bad clans out there just like bad ppl, but some clans are very respected and fair, they often have their rules that if not followed are enforced, as admins for clans are much more present, effective and experienced....unlike the horde of noobs that are paying for over-priced servers and can't even set them up yet *rant* I guess the main point is alot of the problems happening across all servers are happening as a result of secular players having to mix with random's xbox realised this before the days of 8 man chat parties, end of the day, when i finally get a home server i can look back and laugh about the countless times i was air-dropped and killed, or razor wired out of a hospital whilst dying
