  1. PowerShell, on 05 August 2012 - 06:26 PM, said: No :( I agree with everyone else who says no. Trust me, its so much better with out a starting gun :) THIS MAN. He's got it figured out. Learn from him, starting players...
  2. Let's clear up a few things, no? You poor thing! You checked five whole buildings? That's a lot of work for no gun... It's the luck of the draw. Sometimes you go through a city with nothing, sometimes you get a Winchester and a revolver in your first building. Get over it and keep trying. Post in the forums looking for a group to join. There are LOADS of steam, skype, vent, and TS3 groups that would be happy to help out a new player. Just because you aren't looking for them, it doesn't mean they aren't there. NO. You have no idea what the problem was, and you're trying to fix it with a suggestion that flies against the direction of the game? This is a sandbox survival game, not some kiddy-friendly game. There are no safe areas, only safer. If you're looking for a game-enforced safe zone where nobody can shoot you, Get the fuck out of here, this isn't your type of game. (Players sometimes set up "outposts" at certain areas where they kill anyone that doesn't have their guns lowered, they attempt to provide a temporary relief from the stress. It lasts until a good group gets wind of it and comes in and snipes the shit out of everyone.) NO. Sniper rifles are in the game for a reason. This is a military simulator. I don't even know how you could DO this. This is further proof that you're looking for the wrong game. You can only snipe maybe 800metres with most snipers, 2 can hit reliably at 1.6 or 1.8 KM but they're very rare. Get over your dying. It happens to all of us. You didn't waste any money on DayZ. You spent money on Arma II. DayZ was free. If you did it in the blind hope that the mod was good, that's your own damn fault. Maybe you should have watched a lot of videos first on youtube. I know several that end in the player getting sniped. One ends in about 20 seconds. It goes "Oh finally, I got a good spawn. Alright youtubers, today you're going to see Day-"SNIPED Reading these forums would have helped you too, because there's lots of people crying about sniping. There's ways around this, though. Know where you are and where snipers like to hide, and put cover between you and them. You will never be SAFE in this game, though. Get used to it and losing your gear. FUNFACT: If they bring back guns, you might feel safer for a moment, but if you DO survive long enough to see another person after you spawn... do you know what's going to happen? They're going to FUCKING KILL YOU. Just look up loot maps and look on DayZ DB and find out where the weapons are. The best guns don't spawn in cherno. Just do some research first. You could have avoided all of this. Have fun, and I'll leave you with one final tip: Don't get attached to your gear. You'll lose it to Players, Zombies, Oceans, Glitches, Hackers, Doors, Boars, and 1,000,000 other ways. Your gear is not yours, you're borrowing it from Chenarus. And sooner or later, Chernarus is going to come knocking to get it's shit back.
  3. Well I can't say for sure, but about a second after we hit 1,000,000... We're gonna hit 1,000,001
  4. THIS is the type of reasoning that (I would imagine) Rocket is looking for. I don't speak for Rocket or anyone but myself, but if I was him and I looked at this, I would see an opinion and a valid (or at least attempted) reason as to why that opinion is stated. "Well you changed it so it's good by me" Isn't an opinion, that's simply nonsense.
  5. YOU are fucking retarded. I'm fine with you having an opinion on the changes, but going with everything because "hai guyz racket dun went an changed tings. I agre becas dis is progres an progres is gud 4 dayz!" has got to be the DUMBEST thing I've ever heard. Not only that, but it flies DIRECTLY in the face of the reason that DayZ is out right now! Do you realize that this is an In-Progress Alpha, and that Rocket is collecting player feedback on every update on whether or not a specific change was accepted by the community or rejected? He wants to know what people think as it pertains to the game and their experience in it. He DOESN'T want people incessantly spurring on updates because they're trying to get on his dick and praise the almighty creator. Did you know that he looks to the player base to shape most of their own experience? He's giving us the tools to do whatever we want. "The gods" of game worlds force on unnecessary NPC events and scripted, linear passages. This is PRECISELY the opposite of what DayZ is doing. Rocket has created an amazing game and he's looking to the community to make it better. He's not looking for lapdogs who say that every little change is indisputable progress. In fact, some changes are steps in the wrong direction and that's why we're here. The game is metaphorically walking, and we're teaching it how to run. Stop saying everything is okay if it starts stepping sideways and falling over itself. "Oh no, it's okay, just keep somersaulting to the goal! Rocket wanted you to somersault, damnit! SOMERSAULT! What's that? Rocket wants you to cartwheel? Get on that shit! I don't care if it might be a horribly inefficient way to travel, Rocket obviously wants this new method of transportation to be set in stone! [NOTICE: The somersault metaphor does not apply to the current update, or any past update, of DayZ. It is reserved for a future update that may or may not cripple the game. I am sure, however, that some players will praise any update that comes out, even if that's starting with broken legs because "U was getin tossd arond by waves in da ocean b4 u spawn so ur legs got borked. Rokat wans dat to be haw DayZ is so u ned to adapt an get on wif borken legs!"] TL;DR This is an Alpha, Rocket wants honest opinions, not people who sit at his feet and desperately reach to kiss his ass amidst calls of "adapt lolz". /rant

So... When did they add tree climbing?

OP has a m107 and coyote backpack, OPs friend has BAF AS50 + Ghillie + I'm assuming coyote as well. OP has low kills from zeds and players. Stuffing tents full of uber-leet chopper guns and coyote backpacks? I understand packing up the guns for deaths, but tents full of rare maximum-grade backpacks and enough for multiple people? OP seems legit.

NEW WORLD ORDER Electro Church Shootout US 650

This whole thing was without a doubt THE most intense game I've ever played. We actually started the night as nothing but users in the same Teamspeak. You can see me in the video, I'm the coyote pack at the videographer's feet. I got shot when they opened the doors. Little did they know, they would not see the last of me. After my death, I spawned at Balota and rushed to Elektro. Once I got there 15 minutes or so later, I booked it to the firestation to find a weapon and save my still-pinned friends. I heard gunshots from the roof so I slowly started climbing the stairs. Inside I found a hatchet on a dead body and upon reaching the top floor I found the gunman. He was with the "New World Order" providing overwatch with an AKM. I hatcheted him to death, the server said "Alex" was killed. I tried to get outside to flank the New World Order with the AKM but was killed by a glitch with the back door of the firestation. About half an hour later, there was another bloodbath outside the church. A recent friendly with no weapons named Fyodor had walked by us in the Bar, so we invited him over and got him suited up with an AK and some tools. Then we met Alex again. He came up with a hatchet and said he was friendly, so we let him stay for a moment. He started bragging about how many people he killed from the firestation and it clicked. I immediately told the group that this was the "overwatch" that was gunning them down, and he was promptly dropped with a lee enfield shot from Lodoss. For the record, lodoss is a pretty good shot with the enfield and when he came up on the church the first time after his death he saw Tox outside and shot him in the head. He was greif stricken of course, but all was well on both sides. The story ends in a depressing way. After seeing "Alex" die several times, we knew he was trying to get an Elektro spawn. We were running out of Elektro to head up north and as we passed the general store, we were drowned in a hail of gunfire. I made it out with nothing but shock but Lodoss and Fyodor were killed. I ran around the store and hid behind the counter. The shooter was calling me in direct chat, and for some reason I thought I would play the game in a nice manner. I told him very calmly over chat that I meant no harm and I crouched and double tapped Ctrl to put my AK down. I walked outside of the store and told him that I would continue looking north so that he knew I meant him no trouble. I told him he could have any of my gear or medical supplies, to which he replied "I'll take it all" and I was fired upon with a full AK clip. I had -58000 blood but I was still able to see in-game, and the last thing I saw was Alex saying "Bitch." It shows how low people will go to abuse respawn mechanics to exact their firey revenge. Regardless, this night will go in the history books as it is likely to be the best time I have EVER had in DayZ. I guess the idea is that if you see someone, instead of killing them, try being kind instead. I used to be slightly hesitant to lose my gear, but then I realised that you're always going to lose it. I figure you might as well have a great time while you have it. We paid it forward to one man tonight, and we were rewarded with hours of gunfights, tense negotiations, and a few accidents along the way. Pay it forward, survivors. It's the right thing to do, and you'll be happy you did.

Strange and Uncalled for Zombie Behavior

Ouch... The pistol calls one too many for your rounds, so you're forced to use the Enfield to at least try to survive. You got caught between a rock and a hard place there. That's one of those things about DayZ, it will constantly punish you. I've gotta be honest though, I think that's why most people (you included, I take it?) love this game. It will never hold your hand or help you any more than giving you your starter supplies. Hopefully your subsequent lives go better than this one, though.
