    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.1 Rolling Update

Any word from Rocket or the team about the loot spawn bug? As things currently are, the game is unplayable as a newly spawned character. With no beans spawning, you have to hunt; hunting and preparing your food requires a knife, matches, an axe and a gun - and, of course, an animal to eat. I imagine it's close to impossible to find all that before you perish to hunger.

    No Side Channel for ME

Haha, oh, I do love the "who's shooting in cherno?", "any friendlies in elektro?", "OMG WHO JUST SHOT ME?", etc. I think I'm going to miss hearing these amusing phrases once side chat is gone. :(

Why did u become a bandit??

I simply enjoy hunting people - including (perhaps especially) other bandits*. I don't do it to grief, I just enjoy the thrill of hunting and killing other players. That's it. There's no malice in it. *Why especially other bandits? Because other bandits are predators and are better game. Killing a tough adversary, a fellow predator, is more satisfying than killing a harmless survivor who has just spawned. The kill is riskier, so it has more value to me.

  5. I just miss all the: "Who is shooting in Cherno?", "OMG WHO JUST SHOT ME", "Are there any snipers in Elektro?" :( I'm going to miss chat.

Dear rocket, f**k humanity. Focus on Morality.

I don't know where to begin with the OP's abortion of a post. If he thinks he knows anything much about philosophy he's deluding himself. Hint: attempting to use technical terms from philosophy to make your ideas seem profound, only works if nobody understands them - if they do, you're f**ked. The concept of humanity is not a 'modernist' one, it isn't a 'dialectic' and I cannot see how you could justify calling it a 'simulacrum'. At best, this is ignorance, at worst, charlatanism. Stop dressing banal ideas in the finery of philosophy, it is really, really painful to read.

    Name and Shame: PvP Diconnectors

I'm happy to see them named and shamed - they're scum. If changing your alias is simple - I haven't checked to see if it is - then there's little point in doing this, though.

    Low FPS

Yep, I was getting 30-40 fps before the 1.5.8.2 patch - now I'm getting 9 fps! Glad to hear it's getting fixed.
  9. Nah, it's called abstraction. Until Rocket finds a better way to implement them, some of the features may seem a little unintuitive, or a little abstract for an otherwise quite realistic game. The mod is still alpha and we are the testers, don't forget that. I'm sure the features will be better implemented in time.

Sniper rifle - 2 shot kill?

As people have suggested, there seems to be a random element to bullet damage. I have found that torso hits with my Enfield, CZ550 and DMR result in a roughly even distribution of one-shot and two-shot kills. The latter is bothersome when unscrupulous types log-off to escape death, so these days I have to quickly follow up my first shot with a second to prevent it. Often it means putting a second bullet into a corpse, which isn't really a hassle, but each subsequent shot does make it easier for other players to determine your position.

    Player kill registration removal

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but can't you just look at your 'Murders' or 'Bandits Killed' count on the upper right of your screen to ascertain if the person you just shot at died? That's what I always do, as, when people are chatting, text displaces the kill information so quickly; and, often, I'm not actually sure what the name is of person I'm shooting at, so the name that comes up could quite easily be of someone else on the server who has just been killed at the same time. As long as we have information on how many people we have killed, removing the kill registration information won't affect much. Still, I'm going to say no, because I like to see how much killing is being done on the server and what the outcome of the firefight I'm monitoring (and about to intervene in!) is. But, then, as a homicidally inclined player, I would say that.

Admitted Duping and Hacking 20+ LLKJ members

C'mon Rocket, you know as well as I do that Goon tears are the sweet ambrosia nectar of tears. So, for the benefit of all us mere 'pubbies' out there, ban every Goon!

    Remove the pseudo-dynamic weather script

Yeah, the fog you're seeing is (I think) just the server limited view distance of 500m. It's really awful. :( It makes navigation harder, it makes admiring the scenery harder, and, most irritating of all, it makes sniping other players harder. :)

    Humanity..a way forward?

This is utterly ridiculous, and I guarantee you Rocket will not implement such a system. Your tying of morality to such arbitrary rewards and punishments completely undermines the nature of the game. He want to help us (us, the players!) to deal with and create consequences for different styles of play, not enforce morality using game mechanics. Can't you see why he's removing the bandit skin in the first place? Really, your idea is giant leap backwards - not forwards.

A Solution to the Problem of Bandit Identification

I also think we need a higher level of character persistence in the game and I'd like to post what I said in another thread: I think Eve Online has the answer, but I'll come back to that. We need an in-game identity if our actions are to have some weight. More personalized characters might be one way to solve this, or even some sort of profile and bounty system. In reality, survivors would quickly learn to identity others in their area, and those involved in banditry would become well known through their reputation. This is hard to do in a game with thousands of people playing on dozens of different servers, each person rarely meeting the same players twice. Eve Online gets around this by allowing players to place bounties on the heads of criminals and to check the profiles of every player in the solar system - could a similar feature be included in Day Z? Could we have profiles of the players on the server which we could browse for an indication of their intentions? Player profiles are unlikely to possible in the Arma engine, but, perhaps, since we already have a unique character with a unique spot in a central database, we could have a profile on a web page? Eve Online players will be used to alt-tabbing out of the game to check kill boards for information on their enemy's combat stats and preferred ship fittings; it really isn't that clunky once you're used to it!

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

I think Eve Online has the answer, but I'll come back to that. We need an in-game identity if our actions are to have some weight. More personalized characters might be one way to solve this, or even some sort of profile and bounty system. I am completely against arbitrary punishments like reducing blood level. What on earth?! This goes completely against the premise of the game! Though this is a game, we should look to reality for inspiration on solving these problems. Rocket launcher is underpowered

Yes, me too, but those are either unarmoured vehicles or vehicles with so little armour as to make using an AP round completely overkill. HE rounds are more than adequate for taking out anything smaller than a Main Battle Tank - so any vehicle in the mod!

    Rocket launcher is underpowered

If this rocket only has an anti-tank warhead, what is it doing in this mod? It should really be swapped for a general purpose rocket launcher - something with a simple high explosive warhead.

    Daytime servers are always overloaded.

The ability to alter the gamma/brightness really ruins night-time play. Unless you want to handicap yourself, you MUST to have it on full. How could you not? Every predatory player who doesn't have NVGs is playing with their gamma/brightness/HDR on full, and unless you want to be a proverbial fish in a barrel, you're going to have to do the same. I got my first pair of NVGs tonight, and the difference between them and the gamma trick really seems negligible. It's really a choice of, would you rather see as the world in green tones or grey tones?

    Damage/Hit registration

Yes, there's quite a delay between the bullet impacting your target and the hit actually registering, ample time for your opponent to shoot you back - even if you should have killed him with your first shot! As a result of this, I avoid close combat at all costs.

    canteen filling bug

I have this problem too. I have no problem filling my water bottle from wells and fountains but cannot fill it in bodies of water. I have managed once, but I had to be actually swimming before the option appeared on my action menu. In shallow bodies of water though, it is impossible for me to fill my canteen.
