Just before the update, Six Launcher had most of the servers lite up. Now that the update happened, alot of the servers me and my friends played on are greyed out. Is this just the server owners taking their time updating, or still an issue with the update itself? Getting mighty tired of being on these plump-full servers with KOS bandits every 100ft.

Yeah I know, I could have sworn I read that they sent the hotfix to the server owners. I guess some of them are just taking their sweet time.

Well we found some good weapons (3 shotguns, only 1 rifle) at the tents in Stary Sober. Afterwards we headed north until we were directly east from the airfield across the road going around it in the forest. Sadly, we didn't go in. Mainly because when I opened my map, I counted 11 orange man dots at the buildings right southeast next to the most southern hanger here: http://dayzdb.com/map#6.049.054 Not wanting to chance death, we stayed in the forest, turned around, and booked it to Devils Castle, which was empty cept for the few common zeds. I can only guess it was a group/guild/clan/squad/whatever that would have shot us on sight, no questions asked. With only a 4 man (5 man pending) team, the odds were highly stacked against us. Might try at some other time.

This is new and exciting! No but really, old news, being fixed as we speak, it takes time. Learn some patience and enjoy what you can out of the game, or don't play. Your choice.

I have alot of standard surviving equipment (map, gps, compass, watch, water canister, knife, matches, hatchet) so living off the land isn't much of a problem (haven't found a tent yet though), and we were planning on passing by the military tents setup in Stary Sober (since the last time I was there, there were at least 3 different guns with ammo) in order to be prepared. I'm probably going to check with the other guys and see if we want to test it, scope it out really nicely, spread out, and sneak in, OR just junk the idea and head northeast after Sober, hitting deer stands and making our way to the airstrip in the northeast. Main goal atm is getting nice weapons and possibly a vehicle. Already looted the crap out of Elektro, so we're good on medical supplies and basic essentials.

Why DC? If they are unarmed, leave them be. If they have a weapon, shoot them! I'm not taking any chances, and they might have great loot!

Where do these server hoppers usually spawn at? Haven't been over there yet, so I am guessing the high yield buildings located here? http://dayzdb.com/map#5.045.053 I like to try to be prepared before going into the unknown, and of course i'm going to scope it out before I head anywhere in it's vicinity.

The only ways to successfully find real friendly people, is either play with personal friends, or check the forums and maybe join a group. This is a survival game. Yes, the zombies are an enemy in the game, but the REAL enemy, is a person. A zombie you can't trust, because it's just an enemy AI that is programmed to attack. A person, on the other hand, can be possibly trusted, thus involving real human emotions which is where major decisions take place. Anyone with a gun is a threat to me. Sorry, but I won't take the chance of getting shot in the back. The only people I wouldn't shoot on sight is unarmed (in the chance they just spawned recently).

My friend is also having this issue. Does anyone have any info on this? ReEDIT: Ok. Didn't notice the date on that, and it didn't work. However, I found the issue. The reason it's kicking you back is because it's failing to initialize your Battleye. Here is what I did to get my friends to work. What you need to do is go into your Arma II installation folder (C/ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/AramII/Battleye for me) and uninstall it. Then, find your Arma II operation arrowhead folder (just go back a few folders still in steam, and go into Arma II OA instead of the Arma II folder) and open the BEsetup folder. There should be an installer for Battleye. Run it, and now Battleye should initialize properly. If that doesn't work, than I wish you luck good sir.

I would think of it this way: Bandit checks servers. Sees an unpopulated one. Gets on it and chills in popular areas (like the airfield) while waiting on people that think unpopulated ones won't have bandits and would be clear. Essentially just because it's nearly empty, doesn't mean there is an A-hole waiting at that location. I would think the larger the server, the less bandits would want to chill in fear of being killed by other bandits. (Then again, I could be completely wrong. Don't quote me on that)

Head to red dots on the map. Personally, I keep an eye on the 2 military/police towers in Elektro. Was able to find a sniper and AK (stuck with AK since I had 4 rounds for it, while sniper only had 1) along with some morphine! (on a dead body of course) ALWAYS survey your area first though. If you see movement up in the tower part of those 2 buildings, stay away unless you have a weapon and believe you can get the jump on someone.

I also have an HP Pavilion with a similar graphics card, and trust me, I have already tried playing on it. Only thing I was able to get into was singleplayer, and even then, it was all blocky and pixel like. I know unless ya own a $1000 or more laptop, you probably won't have much luck running Arma II. Sticking with my BA tower for this game.

He's right. I've noticed very lightly populated servers are having that character is creating issue, while the larger ones are fine.

Hiya everyone! I've been watching gameplay of DayZ from paulsoaresjr and i've decided to give it a try myself finally. I'm in the process of downloading the ARMA II pack, and I can't wait to get in and start surviving! Sad part is after seeing in multiple videos of what goes down most of the time in this game, i'm probably going to become a bandit pretty quick. Not going to let my guard down just to have someone shoot me in the back. Besides that, I look forward to playing this, and maybe finding a few friendlies I won't shoot on sight. (no promises!)

Well, I have some thoughts after playing it for a good hour or so. -Weapons are very scarce. Maybe it was the server I was on, but I explored 2 of those police towers, a military outpost in the woods, and plenty of buildings, with no luck of finding even an axe (plenty of ammo and food/drink though) I wish we could at least start out with a knife or something. -Being weaponless, I knew I could die from people (bandits), and that was what inevitably happened. Some guys saying "hey man, we need help" over the mic, only to gun me down. It's ok though, hope they enjoy the starting equip + some beans and a soda! (I would have gunned them down on sight, buuuuut no weapon.....yeaaaahhh.....) So far, it's a thrill though. Avoiding the zeds, having the adrenalin rush when someone with a gun pops up and they don't shoot you, and the exploration is amazing. However, it does suck i'm STILL walking around (using the online map btw, I know where i'm at) trying to find a weapon (and now foodless/drinkless). Gah! Watching paulsoaresjr made it seem so much easier! He found an AK and shotty on his first police building! EDIT: Also, i've been getting stuck at 'character is creating' screen alot. I'm guessing this is something they are working on?

After downloading the game(s), I was able to play for a good 20 minutes or so (until I got raided by some zeds in Kamblwobo or w/e), then left to do some chores, and now I come back to this problem. Can't get into any server without it just sitting there saying 'waiting for character to create' What's up? The people on the server were talking about you guys getting hacked?
