Odrakis (DayZ)

Last time I died was because of the wipe coming with Patch 0.48 (I think). When I die caused by something else, I immediatly rage quit/log off. My characters live for aprox. 30-60 days.

I hope it will never come, limited by whatever. Even today I never play on server with more than 10 players :/

Ever since the new 0.49 patch and the charakter reset my live's been nothing but pain, fear and anger! Allways got some good stuff and nice spawn locations and got killed 3 out of 3 times by a effin hacker/script kiddy. This game can be so much fun, but the hackers/script kiddies allways ruin it for me >_< EDIT: The worst death I had was when I first broke a leg on the NWAF and searched for 20 long minutes for some sticks/rags/axe. I finally managed to fix myself up, ran like the wind and got chased by a dude who said to be "friendly". Seconds later he charged towards me with his freakin' axe and murdered me.

You are not alone, MatchboxChick! I play the game since day 1 and playe the mod when it came out. But still, I only play on low pop servers and nearly wetting my pants at every crack or sound I hear. I only play with headset on my ears - just in case I stumble upon another player to negotiate or something. Playing DayZ will kill me someday, I swear. My heart pounces like it will explode, I drown in sweat (disgusting -_-) and I am soooo nervous! Guess I am getting too old for this stuff... EDIT: I am in love with my gear and would hate to losoe it (yeah, I break rule #1 with that, I know). That makes me extra extra cautions and I prefer to RUN if I hear or see something suspicious. EDIT 2: I will always play as a friendly dude. I just met a handfull of fellow survivors in my 180+ hours of playing DayZ but retreated every time - out of fear or whatever. DayZ gives me more goosebumbs than every horror game out there combined!

Whats the newest one? Thats the one I use on My 780 Ti GHz Edition. I got everything maxed out, never had less than 30 FPS. Now, sometimes I get like 10 FPS - but just for some seconds (3-5 I guess). Also the game crashed just when I quit it.

I might be wrong, but your legs can´t break if it just reads "my leg is in pain". Or is it wrong information I got there?

Hello Guys'n'Gals! I don´t know if it´s just me, my computer, my headset or whatever - it just drives me insane! Whenever I play DayZ I am getting totally paranoid, every crack, every sound makes me go completly crazy! So what I discovered on Stable 0.46 might be a bug - in the game or my computer :D Whats happening? I am in the woods or somewhere else and every few seconds a hear something hat sounds like canonshots. It is barely recognizable and I only hear it with my headset on. It is such a faint sound in a pretty far away distance that it is REALLY hard to hear. But it god damn drives me even more crazy than everything else. Yesterday night (in real life) I got so crazy I thought I pass out and wet my pants, that sound is unbearable and it gives me the creeps! So has someone else experienced this or is it something with my tech (or my ears? :D)?

All that unbelievers. Damn them! I´ve been there some days ago, on a bright and warm day. I approached carefully through the southern woods. When I finally arrived there was nothing - except that I felt something horrible was waiting for me somewhere... So I opened the front door, blasted in, ran to the first floor and got into the room with the 4 beds. There it happened. I heard footsteps, running footsteps. aimed my M4 out of the windows an saw...nothing, not a single thing, not even the branches on the trees where moving. I stood still for what felt like 10 minutes or more, but in reality it was just 1 second or a bit longer. I nearly pooped my pants. Sweat ran all over my body, I was shaking with fear. More footsteps. Without thinking I just RAN like a madman, approached the entrance door, crawled under the fence into the woods and kept running for some time. To this day I guess I never know what the hell happened out there, as there where no zombies chasing me, no survivors shooting me and nothing in particulr happened to me - except that terrible fear, nesting pretty deep inside my spine. That freakin' Green Mountain is cursed. It curses fellow survivors with the curse of fear. Unreasonable fear!

Okay, so here is a small update: I am just able to hear this "booms" with my headphones on and I guess it is somekind of to much bass in the audio settings of my PC. If I play on speakers I use a different audio profile. But I gonna check out how the "headphone profile" turns out when using my speakers and playing dayz.

I know it doesn´t help, but a few weeks ago, a friend asked me to build a new PC for her. The budget was 400-450€, if possible, less than this. I got some good hardware, but for a price that low you have to cut somewhere. I don´t know if it helps, but here is a hardware list of pieces I bought. Maybe someone could search that pieces of hardware at your location- I ordered in germany, because, well, I live there :D

No way, it was something enviroment like, where only a handfull of players online, one of them a friend of mine who didn´t hear anything like that. So it remains a mystery. Or maybe I can record it tonight when my time allows it to play.

I don´t think that´s what I heard. Imagine a large, old canon being shot. Now think of it pretty far away and you get this sound. I ran from north Chernarus to the direction of Mogilevka and had it all the time. You could compare the sound to a faint & slow heartbeat, that would fit too.

Hey guys'n'gals! Okay, at first, the topic might sound abit weird. But lemme explain what I mean and why: I play DayZ since the first days of the mod. Remember those great days of exploring and sometimes find it sad that you can´t use vehicle X which is just used as a background? A long time ago I watched a lets play of some guys - noobs - finding a locomotive somewhere near Cherno. They talked about it and actually thought you could repair and use the thing. That must´ve been somewhere around 2012. Now, years later, think about it: how nice would it be if you could actually USE a locomotive (with or without the box cars) to go around the map/a certain/small area until the line is blocked by stuff? What gave me that idea? I played The Walking Dead (the Telltale game, not the shitty one) where you had to fix a locomotive and then used it for your escape. I really think it is a great idea! Dunno about the physics though, but it should be easier achieveable than programme a car physic or something. What do you say - just for the LOLZ :D TL;DR Version: What do you say about the idea of using trains/locomotives to get around?

Well, I don´t think you can compare it THAT much with the mod. The mod had a very clunky backpack/item system, that is much more easier in the SA. The Mod on the otherhand had lots of zombies, the SA doesn´t have them yet. Regarding the price your guess is as good as mine. The Steam Summer Sale is over, you´ve missed an opportunity there. I remember the price there was 20 Euros. The price could go up once the SA becomes a Beta, whenever that will be. And it will increase of course once it is completed. So buy it now or wait until the next Steam Sale (winter?). Or wait. We all can just take a guess :D

Don´t mention it ;) If you are unsure about buying the game or not you can search the forums, see how other players (newbies and veterans alike) think about it. You can watch some let´s plays or other videos on youtube and then decide "yes, I want it" or "nooo, not yet". Since the price of the game will increase when it is Beta or done I would just so "go ahead and buy it", but you could kick my butt for that recommendation :P Just decide for yourself!

How could this happen, I mean seen from the realistic way. If a zombie apocalpyse happens, a train/the driver would just stop and run for his/her family or something. So how could it be possible that a train just runs around the map forever and ever and ever :D Do you catch my meaning? :D I appreciate your contribution though :D

Zombiies are always undead people. What do you mean, I don´t get it :D Do you mean that the Zs in DayZ are a different kind of zombie? They´re that kind of zombies that originated from living people that got infected, not that kind of zombies that originated from already dead guys. Did you mean this, or...?

Sometimes there is a delay in development, sometimes somethings get (terribly) worng and the staff has to delay a patch or new content. That ist normal, given the game is in Alpha. And normal for software developtment, too. But I guess no one can say if the developers are on schedule or not. You have to trust them, report Bugs you find and be fully aware that the game is an early access ALPHA. So it will take some time before things are stable and everything´s working as planned. Rough said, you are nothing more than a tester of the current available game. But IF the game is what you want right now...only you can tell. I purchased DayZ the first days it was buyable and didn´t regret it. Would I recommend it to other player who want a working game with a hardcore zombie survival simulation? No.

More Zombies and different types of 'em. Like in The Walking Dead - rotten Zs, crawling upper bodies and so on. I never noticed that dutch note, pretty strange. What´s it doing out there and why the hell on earth does it have to be in dutch? :D Also the model of the train looks pretty detailed - never looked at it closer in the game. It´s perfect and it just WANTS to be used xD

It could just be s aisngle locomotive with broken couplers or something like this, so that it is impossible to attach boxed cars or smth. That way you could only transport 2 or 4 people.
