Collision Bug that kills players instantly.

I didn´t had this bug so far. Just saw it in some videos, lets plays especially. So it existis, obviously. In one video I saw it happen after the server restartet and the player spawned. He died instantly. Here´s the vid, it´s german, but that unimportant - you see it happen from just touching...the ground, I guess? http://youtu.be/u49RGM7WHqA?t=16m22s EDIT: the guy standing next to that player is his teammate, so there´s no way he shot him or something. I guess it is the bug mentioned in the first post. -
I appreciate your participation on that matter. You are right, I know, a train just follows its track. Seen from the point of realism: one of the first thing I would do if the apocalypse comes over us is heading to the nearest train station and see if I could get a train running. It´s safer than a car I guess. Sure, it´s no big change to the gameplay, it is just one more thing that fills the worl with a bit of reality and interaction.

I do not think it would be unrealistik. Everybody could use a hand car thingy, you don´t neet some special skills for that. You could even get a diesel train t move (in real life) if you have the slightest idea how such machines work. But it would be hard if not impossible to get a steam train to move. It needs many hours to get enough heat to move. When steam engines where common, they often had them run thorught the the end of a shift because a start of that thing takes so long - from the first lighted match to the moment you coul actually drive, it takes HOURS! TL;DR: it ´s not unrealistic if it´s a handar or even a diesel machine. A steam engine is much harder to run.

I like your idea with the coal, but I was going for the casual think like "just pour in some diesel and of you go". Sure, with a steam loco you could get in the same direction like "shovel in some coal and off you go". Just sayin': diesel would be more casual in the game but unrealistic due to what you said - it will be hard o come by in an apocalypse. Coal would be more realistic, but I dunno what it would do to the immersion of the game...or something like that :D In the Mod, there was an old diesel engine standing around somewhere at Chernarus (or wa it Elektro?). I don´t know if the model is in the mod (never been south) but if it is - the model is in the game! That could be used and I guess it doesn´t need to be created from the scratch. The, there are those hand powered cars. Love those thins and could give DayZ that DayZ Origins feeling: building vehicles with old stuff you find everywhere. The destroying of tracks: if it fits in the game engine smooth, why not?

Looks like there are two parties. One wishing for "a brighter night" and the other one calling the night we have "perfect". I for myself always think about how unrealistic the night in Arma/DayZ looks everytime I play at night. In real life I life in an area with very low population and if you go out at night you can always see pretty good. So it is just unrealistic to have such dark nights like in DayZ. And the Milky Way: it can be seen on a clear night. Sure, not as clear as in Stalker or other games, but if you have a little bit of knowledge of stars and stuff, you CAN see it. At least I can from where I life...sure, you might not see it from your skyscraper in New York, but if you life in th countryside like me, you actualy can! TL;DR: The way I see it, nights in Arma/DayZ are unrealistcly dark!

I don´t think we need to go as far as "become AI zombie". Just get infected and die, nothing more, nothing less. It´s just like dying because of eating some rotten fruits or something. -
I always thought the nights in Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl where great. it was dark and you could see the milky way. But never too dark. Just the right level of "that-nice-feeling-when-you-sit-next-to-a-campfire". You know what I mean... So, yeah, I want the Milky Way in the game!

Hey Frosti! But just think for a second - a train moves on tracks (big news :P) and just follows them. Instead in a truck or a car you can go anywhere and do some not-so-nice things to other players. What I mean is that the train is just bound to the tracks and can´t go anywhere. I agree with the hell lot of work - thing. Let it be broken, let players find materials and so on. In The Walking Dead game you also had to work to get the thing to drive. Make it hard - but once you made it you get the satisfaction that you actually achieved something - like it was in the originally mod when you rebuild a heli or a truck :D Edit@Pilgrim: LOL, remembers me a lot of DayZ Origins. That could realy be an alternative for a locomotive. Never thought of that :thumbsup:

Hey there! I don´t think it would be a good idea to make it time-dependent, more to make it a kind of infection like the food poisoning. Eat some fruits or something and get infected. Get hit by a zombie - get infected ans slowly turn. Have an open/unclean wound - get infected. That, in my opinion, would be the better gameplay then just turn into a Z without doing anything bad to your health. -
Thats right, but what would you expect from a train? Lets just assume 2 things for my train suggestion: #1: your charakter is from chernarus and knows the country (very) well. You could take the train to go up to the north end of the map, the airfield for example. Or to go to Berezino. #2: your charakter was a tourist before the outbreak and doesnt know a thing about the country. Just take the train and see where you are going - make an escape. I mean that this could be the reasons to use a train in reality - and in return: in DayZ. @Mystic Bagel: I thought of it more than an old russion diesel locomotive where you have to use tons of fuel to get anywhere. It´s not that complicated to get a diesel locomotive to move as it is with a steam loco. Just use "some switches here and there". I think that could fit into the Arma/DayZ mechanics easily. Oh, an thx for da beans :D

Hey guys ! i am having troubles finding crashed heli sites lately which means I can´t find my loved DMR anywhere. I found a FN FAL + 3 mags in Stary Sobor and want to trade that for a DMR. So if anyone out there is willing to trade - let me know! ;) If you´re unsatisfied with my offer, let me know what item/weapon/whatever you would like!

Hey guys! I guess this thread fits into this topic, it isn´t a bug report yet...I guess. I spent the last 4 days looking for some vehicles. I used a map to find the spawn locations, but no matter on which server I join, there is nothing! Jumping from server to server but staying in the same location, that made me think. Could this be a bug or are vehicles really *that* rare? Yesterday I spend hours running around the Black Lake in the NE of the map, switched servers & tried everythink - but found nothing. The same thing with the heli crash sites. Some servers I joined where US443, US335, DE191, LU85 & US927 & US950 Anyone having the some problems? -- sorry for some mistakes, english is not my native language and it's been a while since school lessons ;)

Haha, some guys say you will stay in the desert and still have to walk back, other guys say you will be spawn within the map. Well, lets just see what happens. Anyway, would be bad for my motivation if I tried to find a way out (already walked for HOURS!) and then being forced to respawn w/o everything^^

So...Im in the debug desert right now and struggling to find a way. If the new patch comes out, will my character set back into the map or will I still be lost in the desert? That's just my only question, because I haven´t played in days and keep waiting for the patch to fix me up! But I have to say: you guys are doing a great job and thank you for all your work!:D
