    Might also be a way to have a reason to kill them military zombies too. If body armor and more militaristic items dropped off them anyway...

    Is there a list someplace of all the legitimate weapons and items? That would solve this issue.
  3. Still...rules are rules. Granted the admins should have better tools to deal with hackers but a server is not supposed to be locked for any reason.

    Body Armor

    I like the idea of increasing water consumption and fatigue with added weight. If you knew anything about how body armor works at all...yes...you would be hurt when hit by a bullet but not dying and still able to fight back unless hit in the head or exposed part of the body. I think headshots should be an instant kill. If this is the case then it needs a bit more balancing. It is far too easy to kill someone with a gun, even a small caliber one right now. The person being shot should have a chance to react and retaliate or flee without immediately dying in one shot. Especially when you shoot them in the ass. I shot a guy from the hospital roof when he was in the school with an Einfeld. Shot right in the ass and he died...too easy. I get "File not found" when I click the link in your sig. Anybody else get that too? I will gladly bump your thread and request mine be merged to yours if I can get into it.

    I kill him because he is running around like a freak of nature attracting every zombie in the area and causing general havoc for me and the rest of my group.
  7. I rarely go to Cherno or Electro...when I do it is with friends. I usually live for several days once I get geared up. I stick to the smaller towns to get what I need and move north. I don't even care if I die. It usually only takes me about 30 minutes to get what I need.
  8. So wait...you are openly admitting to logging off while someone is shooting at you near Balota and you wonder why you were banned? Well...either way...find another server and move on. I just hope you don't have to learn all of the rules the hard way.
  9. Wait...let me get this right. You were banned from a server and you immediately jump to the conclusion that you were banned so the admin could take your gear? You came to this conclusion because someone else was in the room when you were killed with an axe? Nothing about your post makes any sense at all except that you were banned.
  10. I haven't run into a hacker myself yet but plenty of people using Alt+F4. Was on a server last night with several friends, one of which was a server admin. We were in a group of six camping the school and hospital in Electro for a time while we were running around gearing up legitimately. Had a few guys that kept running in and taking pot shots at us with pistols. Hell...one of em got me but didn't kill me. I got up after being kocked out for a bit and got repaired up. We killed them several times and at one point I was on top of the firehouse looking at a guy named Nemesis. A buddy of mine ran out in front of him and he promptly disconnected. I waited until he logged back in and we still got him anyway. THAT is annoying crap and I can't wait till it is fixed. Also...I have to point out that when you see someone running from a zombie hoard...the funnest thing you can do is run up to them with an axe to knock them down and let the zombies finish them off. =D
  11. Yup...been using Track IR with ArmA for quite a while. Mines currently broken...need to upgrade it to the new one anyway. Takes a bit of configuring to your liking but it is very nice to use.

    If it really took them 3 minutes to get from Stary to Sol with 3 vehicles loaded up with that much cooked meat and spare tires after killing a guy upon logging in and they had truly never been on your server before? Yeah...they would have hacked. But that is assuming all of the above is actually true. There is no possible way for them to have done all of that work in 3 minutes time. But it IS possible they were on the server previously and you just didn't know of it. Ultimately the 3 minute timeline just doesn't seem likely since it would take them longer than that to drive that distance even at full speed.

    Very good work. If ArmA 3 is still slated to be released in November, I hope you plan to work on those textures as well. Shoot...just realized that November is only 5 months away...
  16. This whole thread is fail. If you want to fix the ghosting issue and the issue with people logging off or Alt+F4 to avoid conflict or death, you need to fix the logging problem. First off...when somebody logs off, disconnects, times out or whatever...there should be an amount of time in which the character stays in the server. Lets say 1 minute for the sake of argument, although I am all for longer...2-3 minutes. This will deter people from logging or alt+f4 just to get away as their character will still be in game and will likely die. You can argue with me on this all you want...if you do...I will know that you like to cheat and exploit. Secondly...create a relog timer as well. 5 minutes before you can log back onto ANY server after disconnecting from one that you have been playing on for 5 minutes or longer already. This will prevent server hopping. I say "playing on for 5 minutes or more" because there are issues with connecting with servers and if people have to wait for 5 minutes between each attempt at connecting to a new server after getting kicked...well...most people won't play. If people cant take a 5 minute break between logging onto a new server then they need to stop server hopping. If you want to complain about having to wait 5 minutes after a server crash or whatever...get a life.

  20. So if I am disconnected from server lag or any other reason, I then have to spawn in a random location away from my friends I was working with? I would have to say this is a bad idea.

    Legs... y u no strong?!

    Falling should be the only way to break your legs in my opinion. Other than that...collision physics are an issue with ArmA...not the mod.
  22. Yes...another one of THESE threads. Keep reading... So a lot of us think that bandits need to be punished somehow to discourage murder. I agree...sort of. I think there should be a drawback to killing another player but not one that would completely discourage it. After talking this over last night with another player (you know who you are, chime in if you wish) who stated that we should instead encourage co-operation, it got me thinking. A little of both? I remember playing ArmA a lot before this mod. Most servers would have objectives in the form of retaking each town one at a time by killing or disarming all of the enemy in said town. This yielded rewards to the players. The towns could also be retaken by the enemy over time. This gave a chance for the players to go back and do it again. Why not for DayZ? Perhaps add in a mission system where players can work together to rid a town entirely of zombies. Instead of just surviving we are now working to rid the infected from a town and retake it. Allow the zombies to repopulate the town over time as well. Put in A LOT MORE zombies in each town to encourage players to work together more as going solo would be a lot harder the more zombies there are. Once the objective is completed the players within a radius of the town are rewarded in some form. This could be a chest full of special gear that only the survivors that helped out can access or perhaps some sort of monetary system that could be used to buy gear from a shop or something. Just a rough idea that can be tweaked. As for the banditry. I personally think the only thing that should be done would be to make the bandits have a slightly harder time sneaking around from zombies with the more survivors they kill. Another thread explained a system in which they would be tainted with the blood of the innocents they killed thus attracting zombies easier. I think that this combined with the idea above would be all that is needed to disway banditry but not completely nerf it. Also...killing a bandit would also effect the survivor in the same way. No need to play favorites on this. Please discuss.

    1. If you have not played ArmA 2, I recommend you do so. At least give it a try. DayZ while far and above the best mod thus far (in my opinion) is quite a different experience from mods such as A.C.E or Project Reality. ArmA has a very extensive system for lighting effects that you can't quite experience in DayZ right off. The ambiance and surrealism of ArmA can on many occasions be quite addicting and extremely fun. 2. Murdering others IS part of DayZ but it is still a game and because of this the murder is rampant and ruining the experience for many others who want to play DayZ for what it is. A survival mod...not a murder mod. 3. They would be wrong. This is an alpha of a mod. Pure and simple. This means lots of bugs and lots of work to be done. Most of the time you don't even play a game in Alpha...you wait until Beta. There are going to be a LOT of changes and not everybody is going to like every single change made.

    Sorry...I am working under the assumption that most people have at least played vanilla ArmA before and know of what I am referring. The mission objective is out there and anybody is able to work towards completing it but it is not by any means a requirement to do. I like the idea of barricades by the way. They kind of exist already but being able to board up a door and windows would be better.
