Try some other servers... There have been a lot of problems with DDOS attacks recently and a few hotfixes. Many servers may still need restarting or updating in order to be fully functional. Double check your game client and DayZ mod is also up-to-date and the servers you are joining are on the same version. If you can't manage to play, I recommend playing a different game for now and try again tomorrow. You could also play standard Arma 2 to get used to the controls and gameplay, if you are new. Keep in mind that the DayZ mod is still in Alpha test, you need to be very patient.

Try different servers. Eventually you will find one that works. -
It sucks about the hacker. However, your tent should still be there, just not visible. The server you placed the tent on needs restarting!

People can find friends out there or arrange to work together outside the game, before going into it. Having different bands of survivors is fine and murdering other people during the times of an apocalyptic world while there is a lack of food/supplies is reasonable. Seriously. -
Right click the axe and put it into the toolbelt, if you need it as a weapon again then you will need to drop the gun and equip the axe once more!

No, this is a bad idea. People should be able to kill and then lie about themselves being a friendly helpful person. The game is meant to be RPG.

Stop raging, hope you realise this game is in testing and it is a simulation game too. Don't play it to expect to have only fun, expect an experience... Jeez.

Yeah it has to be one of the best mods of ANY game, let alone Arma2 that I have played. It's growing so fast and if you look on Steam, Arma2 is now one of the top selling games thanks to this mod!

Not sure if troll or being serious... ...anyway, some servers have a fixed time of day or set the GMT themselves. Read server descriptions before joining :3

There's not much to say here. I often find plenty of people I can trust, look at the forums alone, it proves that there are plenty of people who will want to work with other survivors... You see, in an apocalyptic world with no laws and a lack of food and supplies, you would easily kill someone else if it meant another day alive... Seriously, stop having a whine and a moan. Rocket has said plenty of times that PvP is a CORE ELEMENT of DayZ. -
WhiteTigerShiro pretty much wrapped it up with the same things I was going to say and for #5, the Devs have acknowledged the issue and are working to fix it, in fact, they have already started, not long a go they could walk through walls too and that has been fixed. Be patient, subscribe to the dev team on twitter and you'll realize a lot of what you think needs fixing/changing already is being fixed/changed! :D That's the great thing about the DayZ dev team (:

When I struggle to find a server, I just play another game for a while... that's what the gaming industry is for, to supply us with game after game after game to ensure our constant entertainment. You did pick a very bad time to start playing, giving the DDOS attacks that have been going down. UbiquitousBadGuy hit the nail on the head in this thread.

By default Recruit: Everything enabled, even spots to find zeds and other players in the HUD. Regular: Crosshair on, 3DP on. Veteran: Crosshair off, 3DP on. Expert: All disabled. Server names usually detail whether or not something is enabled/disabled.

I do not think that there need to be more bikes. I seem to find them quite easily. :/

I do like some of the ideas and I think the DayZ team is aware of what realism is lacking and what is spot on... Adding stuff like this will take time and some of it may be a little over the top. I get where you're coming from though. I posted a thread about a Hygiene meter, I think the game would benefit from that.

If you take out PVP the game would be ridiculously easy. Seriously, you could just raid every hospital and every military camp and then go to a pvp enabled server and kill everyone, feeling like you're some kind of pro. If there are pvp disabled servers, they will be exploited in exactly this way, just like empty servers are exploited for supplies already. -

I have to admit, I killed someone purely because I was greedy and it was going to make my day a lot easier. My friend encountered a friendly player who gave him a transfusion and a morphine injector. I knew he had more of both and I didn't want to travel to a hospital, so I met up with my friend and killed his new acquaintance... I felt a bit guilty, but whatever, I benefited from it. -

There are some issues with DDOS attacks lately, it may be related. If you can't get into a server, play some normal Arma 2 to get into the game! -
You can probably do it on an unofficial/unranked server... but otherwise. NO.

This is purely a server-side issue. A handful of servers suffer from this and as chucklemonkey said, the tents are still there, just not visible.

You're new. It's okay to be frustrated... but as you'll learn, it's actually quite easy. You CAN try and be stealthy, but you can also run in, go to a building and lose the Zeds... Zeds walk slower inside buildings, you can also lose them running up steep hills (Run diagonally, not straight up, otherwise you'll walk slowly too)... Hatchets (Axes) are very common and are insanely good for killing Zeds. There are a few servers which are badly hosted or are suffering from crashes/bugs... Just spend some time switching servers until you find a nice one which is lag free and doesn't harbour any of those things which annoy you. Add that server to your favourites.

No. No. No. This... This is just unrealistic. People who don't like getting killed by other players can learn themselves how to avoid that. Please stop with this no pvp and no friendly fire stuff... It's all part of what would happen in REAL-LIFE. You're basically asking the DayZ team to sell out :S
