How butthurt do you get when you die in Dayz? :)
vile. replied to Jaygoon's topic in General Discussion
Not anymore. After dying dozens of times with fully geared chars due to hackers, doors, gates, trees, roots, rocks, fireplaces and 5 cm high bumps in the ground, im all raged out. -
No it's not. It's an early alpha and server hopping is not that hard to prevent, afaik rocket already said that they have a solution ready. But you can expect that to be implemented soon when the devs get back from their well deserved break.

Tips for green survivors - PvP / KoS
vile. replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Also very important and something i learned the hard way: Never run in a straight line and don't stand still out in the open. Zigzag and be unpredictable in your movement all the time, you never know if someone is watching you through a scope. -
Alright, thx for the info. While i do get occasional stuttering its not really a big issue, so probably not worth switching atm. Might do that if it becomes a problem later on though. Still odd as some people have reportedly gotten a big fps boost by using an SSD (here) and RAMdisk should afaik have the same effect with even faster access times.

M4 spawn rate will already be halved in the next patch and attachment spawn rates will also be reduced.
-
Mosin ammo is also very common in civilian buildings. Just find some untouched village up north and keep an eye open for the small brown ammo boxes.
-
Yes it is, but it also has to constantly load assets from .pbo files from your drive, and if you have a slow hdd that might negatively impact your fps. Would appreciate it if anyone here could post a small step by step guide on how to use this with the DayZ SA.

Imo high end military weapons should be in the mod, but also extremely rare. The issue with this in the mod was not rarity, but duping and loot-cycling. If that PKM, SAW, Lapua or whatever has a 0.1% chance to spawn at a crash sites that already are very rare finds themselves, these high grade weapons are not going to affect balance at all, but still give you something to look forward to. When we played DayZero on a Server with its own database, we played for ~6 months but NEVER managed to get our hands on a Lapua (the only 1-hit kill sniper rifle in that mod) or saw another player using it. So yea, without duping and loot cycling having high grade military weapons should not be an issue.

You never have, and you never will. A well-armed and coordinated group will KoS you before you even have a chance to get close with a hatchet.

I dont have a computer that can run DayZ atm until i get home this weekend (not to mention fraps), but im sure somebody else can make one. If not ill record one on saturday.

Like i said, I've tested it with 400 and 600 meters, around 20 rounds, and all of them were dead-on when prone. I used a pristine bipod and badly damaged long range scope, healthy, well fed and holding my breath on each shot. If people are getting different results with the same setup there must be a hidden weapon condition.
-
Because a big part of what makes dayz so exiting is that you had to work very hard, maybe play for weeks to find that sniper rifle. PvP in this game is so thrilling because you know that you can lose all the gear you worked so hard for in a heartbeat. On some private servers in the mod it took us weeks to get our first m24 for example. And eventually it will be the same in the SA.

Genuine hacks or people looking for attention?

30+ hours here and same experience. Neither me or the 7 people i play with have encountered any obvious hacking so far. -
Sick = Death logic (if you don't have antibiotics).
vile. replied to ianramos's topic in General Discussion
Actually avoiding sickness is not that hard. I am alive since the character wipe and have not gotten sick since then. Just dont drink water from ponds, you dont have to anyway since there are plenty of wells all over the map. Dont get hit by zombies at all, just be very very sneaky and avoid them until you have a fireaxe or a firearm. Dont eat rotten fruit or badly damaged fruit, if you only eat canned food you will not get sick. I have eat badly damaged canned food all the time and have not gotten sick in days. And if you do get sick, it's not a death sentence since antibiotics are not THAT hard to come by, they can spawn everywhere even though the chance of finding them in civilian buildings is very low. If you have food poisoning and are already starting to loose health you are in a very bad spot though, and you WILL loose a lot of health in the process. Just keep yourself well fed and hydrated all the time, eat vitamins if you have them and hope you have a friend who can give you a saline IV once its over. It will go away after a while. -
Only ladders I've had a problem with so far are the ones leading to the roof of new apartment buildings. Every time i tried to climb those, i would fall back down again and break my legs.
-
Odd, i have a badly damaged Long Range scope and a pristine bipod on my Mosin and tried out the accuracy by firing at various buildings from the north eastern Hill at NEAF. I was prone, bipod deployed, rested and well fed and held my breath, and at 600 meters all my shots hit dead on, there was no sway to the left or right at all.
-
Try vaulting repeatedly and/or using prone position to crawl out. Vaulting has worked for a friend of mine who got shoved into a wall by another player. May take a while though...
-
Idk, i guess we have different ways of sniping... I have several "favourite" trees in all the high value locations up north (NWAF, NEAF, Bere, Zeleno, etc) where i can just go prone directly under it making me basically invisible from up close if the trees load correctly and very very hard to see from a distance (and at that point i obviously always stay in first person). I look around by holding ALT and have a very good view of my target area and the only time i have to move even a little is when i have been spotted or fired a couple of shots and have to reposition. Without third person, the people i shoot at will have almost no chance to find me without exposing themselves constantly. But yea, whatever floats your boat, i just think trying to get third person removed completely is one part of the community trying to force the other part to play the game the way they enjoy it, which is bs with 1st person servers coming soon anyway.

mosin long range scope where anyone seen found?
vile. replied to desryachri's topic in General Discussion
I think they can even be found in civilian buildings, although the chance for that to happen is very low (found one in a small civilian building in myshkino once). Best bet would be military tents, hangars and control towers, as these buildings seem to have an increased chance to spawn attachments compared to other military type buildings. -
Which is something you are going to be aware of if you regularly play in 3rd person servers, and use cover accordingly. And that same exact mechanic can turn into a disadvantage for the first guy very fast if the other players are aware of their surroundings and properly using cover. But yea, i get what you're saying and while first person only would remove this, i still dont think this mechanic gives one person an unfair advantage over another since it can be used against them just as much (unless you like laying prone on the top of a building without ever exposing yourself at all).
-
Unless youre sniping from a forest hidden under a tree, 500+ meters away from your target location, giving you a perfect overview without having to move at all.
-
Doubt it would make for a very enjoyable gameplay mechanic if you could put people to sleep for a couple of hours... But yea, im sure the devs can figure out a way to make this work, sounds like a cool idea to me.
-
So what, and on first person servers, snipers would reign supreme, because everybody trying to stick their head out to figure out where im shooting from will get their heads blown off... And bandits laying ambushes would have a huge advantage over the current system for similar reasons. It would be an exploit the devs had never intended that the current system could be used like this, and seeing how arma3 still has third person view i highly doubt it...
