What was your last legit kill

Saw some sniper was wrenching havoc on innocent old Elektro with his AS50, so tracked him down and came behind him. Made it quick and painless with a single round to the back of the head. Thanks for the ridiculous full set of loot pal! -
Whats the biggest server you played on ?
evulclown@gmail.com replied to ikshadow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Been on 2x 100 player servers, they desynched like hell and took about 6 years to load into. I noticed they knocked their player cap down to 50 / 60 soon after. Unless your server is space age I think you're going to have desynch issues after 50 - 60 players. Love to see a stable 100 player server though, so if yours is up to it... -

What's there to be mad about? You're an idiot who is so stupid he doesn't even realise he is. Anyone who's angry at someone like that is mean. No, I think you need carers to help you go to the toilet and to show you that the pointy end of the fork goes into the food not your hand. Your argument has been that this game needs something to change so that PVP isn't as rampant. My argument has been, it's a PvP sandbox game -- the users should control what happens in the game not some arbitrary artificial constraint. Yet after all my posts you retort by claiming that it's me that's "pushing my ideals onto others". Me that wants to impose some sort of restraint on the play style of others. What? Are you meta troll? -

Fix alt+F4 logging out and about 40%+ of the combat would not happen. People would think twice before opening fire if they didn't know they could Alt+f4 out of the game instantly should they fuck up and not get a instant kill. There's your repercussions "I can actually die if i engage in combat because i wont be able to log out for 5 minutes" -

Right, I see what your style is then. You hang on the periferies of a discussion between others then when you see some minor term to grasp on you pop in with your smug face on: ^_^ "HAY GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THIS IS A VIDEO GAME?" ^_^ http://affordablehou...ploads/smug.jpg If you want to get pedantic over terms, it's entirely subjective. You could argue til you're blue in the face. This "game" or whatever you want to call it falls under the broad terms of what defines a "simulation" it also falls under terms which describe a "game". The thing I state is, this is a game which is aimed towards realism. That is what the creator of it is aiming for. The level to which a game or simulation can ever ascertain complete immersive 1:1 realism is a moot argument. If you want some long winded debate past that, that's your prerogative and you can find some other monkey to play with because that's an endless black hole. None of my initial contentions were geared towards firmly stating that. But if someone wants to pull the "this wouldn't happen IRL" card -- That's where my argument was aimed. I am very sure that you don't understand that this has nothing to do with what was being discussed. I humoured you for a few posts with your completely off topic tangent, but that ends here. You're talking complete gibberish for reasons I simply don't care to find out. -

The sweet sweet irony of your entire circle of argument there comes out to "there's anonymity in this game and the internet which means you can do what you want" In a real world situation with no laws there would be anonymity too. What exactly are you arguing against here? People would do whatever the fuck they wanted with no repercussions in the real world and that's exactly what's happening in this "game" "simulation" "collection of pixels" whatever other semantic you want to start an argument over (which is a complete irrelevance in and of itself). And as to you, I don't even know what you're argument is trying to achieve at this stage. What? Okay you'd kill me or something and be mighty. -

You're hopping into the thread and retorting me after I retort other people. I'm not replying that you said it was anything other than a video game -- But you're retorting an argument made against people saying "this isn't realistic". I'm talking to everyone arguing that PvP needs some carebear mechanic to make it into their view of "what's right" morally. Hence the 2 coin tosses of arguments can't be fucking pulled out against me as a retort: "this isn't realistic it wouldnt happen in real life" then after he's proven wrong some other clown goes "it's a game man this isn't real life". Fact is though, this mod is built on an engine designed for millitary simulation. Rocket has aimed for this to be a more realistic simulation than a "game", he's stated it is not a game. It's like we're discussing a cartoon of a car driving down the road and person x goes "omg wheels dont go round in real life this cartoon is silly and needs to be changed" and I go "wheels totally go round in real life" and then you walk in and go "dude it's a cartoon why are you talking about real life!" Then you have the gall to call me retarded? Edit: Seriously, if this is the calibre of moron that's picketing for some carebear PVP system, it's no wonder they get shot in the face all the time. I'm surprised you haven't all licked plug sockets yet, because "there isn't a guide telling me that plug sockets are not good to be licked" or "the game doesn't have a bandit outfit on plug sockets that show me its OK to lick them or not. -

herp derp, you can't have it both ways. You can't come in and go this isn't realistic guys random killing wouldn't happen IRL!!!! And then when that's proven wrong, turn around and go LOLZ VIDEO GAME. It's a video game that's trying to be gritty and realistic. It's a sandbox PvP multiplayer survival horror sim. It's not even deemed a "game" by its creator. If you're after a co-op survival killing game, you've come to the wrong place -- They aren't even zombies if you want to get that pedantic. You'd be the first to go in the great purge -- Jesus christ. Read a history book and get a clue. This is such an irrelevant tangent compared to the issues being discussed but: Humans as we "know" them have been around for approx 200,000 years. "practical" guns have been around for approx 6 - 700 years. Being smart goes in hand with being strong, it's all a moot point. You go sit your ass in a football field sized compound with 30 other guys with limited resources and we'll see who ends up "on top". -

What are you on about? Who do you think gets women in a tribal scenario? It isn't mr sly, it's the 7 foot guy who will squash you with his club. That's where the term alpha male comes from. And yes, then they thive because they reproduce more. That's why animals fight each other to become the dominant male and thus head of the "pack" and with the first pick for reproduction. I'm not being macho in the slightest, I'm being realistic. -

evulclown@gmail.com replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The irony here is, this is you NOT me. I am not imposing my ideals onto you, I am not calling you a moron for wanting to play carebear. Do what you damn well want in this sandbox PvP survival horror game -- that's exactly the point of it, YOU make your rules. Want to set up a shop and trade with players? Awesome. Want to go around helping people? Awesome. Wanna be a merc for hire? Awesome. Want to be a highway robber? Awesome. Want to be a psycho and kill people then collect trophies? Well okay awesome... Want to meet people ingame and join with them? Swell! Wanna go clean out zombies genocide style? Knock yourself out. Wanna kill people for whatever reason? Go ahead. Wanna be some behind enemy lines sniper? up to you son. Wanna be part of some bandit Viking style crew that pillages others and has battles? sweet man Wanna live off the land and hide in the forest like bear grylles? No one's stopping you Wanna be some batman law maker taking down bandits? Kickass. It is you people however that are going "OMG YOU SHOULD ONLY KILL FOR X REASON OTHERWISE WE NEED SOME GAME FEATURE TO STOP THIS PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" -- This is why you're a dumbass. You want some artificial feature in the game to impose your skewed and naive sense of ethics and morality which would not actually be realistic. What's funny is this game gives a pretty true to life creation of what it would turn into if people had weapons and there were no laws. Why do you think we have laws and rules in countries / religions? None of our rules or laws are just "oh hey guyz maybe follow this please". No, they're backed up with punishments / damnation in hell if you don't follow them. There is a reason behind that, because when people think they can get away with things "humanity" disappears mighty fast. Look at what happens during unregulated wars, riots, in countries where laws are lax or not upheld, all through history when there were no laws over an area or a group of individuals / people were not accountable for their actions. Take a look at what happens with group mentality -- The fucking very anonymity of the internet and what people do when they feel they can get away with it? Even with all our laws and rules, how many criminals are there in the world? How many murderers? And that's people who know there's repercussions in the form of prisons / police and still do it. Now take away those repercussions in a post apocalyptic world... What's the big rule in the 10 commandments? Thau shalt not kill. Why is that set there as a rule? With the threat of eternal damnation for failing to abide? Would that need to be there if "people were just nice"? No -- Humans can be cunts, it's in our nature. The reason people banded together into tribes was for protection / for sex / to be more powerful than the next tribe in order to take their things. When a tribe was so effective it became a country, it still strove for those things. Laws only came into place to keep the tribe / people of a country in line so that they could easily defend / attack other countries and not decend into the anarchy that happens without laws. A lot of people would not just rob someone either. Why leave them alive? They'll want revenge, maybe they'll tell others what you did, maybe they'll track you down. Not everyone devolves into a murderous psychopath, but you'll see a lot of people doing bad things they otherwise would not. As it stands, would you walk into a ghetto with everyone having guns with you having $500 in your backpack and think it was a smart idea to start walking up to random people going "hey dude wanna be friends?. What's the end goal of being "super friends 4ever"? You band together into a large group? Then what? You settle down into a community? Better build some defences just in case? Where to settle down? Well naturally near good resources for getting supplies... Well guess what group number 2 who settled down likes your location better. Now they come and attack you -- You just got a war on your hands. Does that sound familiar? You just swapped "random" killing as you all put it for "organized killing". Look how many wars are going on this very minute in the real world: http://en.wikipedia....itary_conflicts -

Yes. If I knew there were people roaming the wild IRL with sniper rifles and night vision -- Maybe I wouldn't go gather supplies at night, ya know? Maybe i'd hunker down and call it a night. Or go to safer locations. I probably wouldn't run carefree into a military complex or a city with a flare and be all "ohhh noooees I got shot, DIS GAMMMEEE!". Use your fucking head -

See, even the bot agrees -- stop whining about PvP If you got shot, you were careless. If you weren't careless, you wouldn't have gotten shot. You made a mistake, learn that fast. You've got a chip on your shoulder if you don't think you fucked up somehow. Maybe this is why you're on the forum whining? "I shouldn't have died I'm awesome" -- You fucked up. Every time I've died to a player it's been through my mistakes. I got lazy and decided to take a shortcut across a potential sniper zone. I didn't thoroughly scope out a location before entering. I got lulled into a false sense of security and let my guard down in a "safer" location. etc etc. They're all my fault. I don't kill everyone I see for the record, and I haven't been shot at by everyone I've seen. I've straight out avoided people or talked to them in game -- Try it some time, get a mic and talk in game. If they're not too friendly over mic then you avoid them. Don't go near anyone that doesn't have a mic -

Gee, the weak are being taken out by the strong? That's never happened in the history of mankind on a near daily basis has it? From tribes, to countries, to prisons, to races... When no overriding "law" is stopping you, the weak get pushed aside by the stronger and loose their shit. Not just from the beginning of mankind to this very day does it happen, but in the animal kingdom too... But it would be different when the zombie apocalypse comes! Only reason more people are dying is because everyone logs out -- you can't rob a guy that logs out, so why bother. When I'm in elektro with no weapon and I spot a guy, I say over direct chat that I've seen him and for him to "freeze". I'm yet to have someone not log out instantly allowing me to loot everything without a care in the world. -

A lot of people seem to be looking for a left4dead style co-op zombie killer, not a sandbox survival horror sim. There's a co op zombie killer mod for arma none the less, maybe they should go play it instead of dayz and stop moaning that they died to a player in a sandbox PvP game. -
Should I add sniper hotspots on maps?
evulclown@gmail.com replied to mccullxch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think you understand how people work, dumbass. Make a map of "popular sniping sites" and "safe spots" -- Cool... ...Now what happens? Newbies run into these safe spots and depopulate the other spots. People think the snipers will stay there? No, they will stay just outside of there and snipe people when they leave the popular sniping sites and feel safe. Maybe they'll go wait at a deer stand en route to an airfield or a field between Cherno and Zelen~. The only thing you need to know to find a sniping spot is to ask yourself a few questions: -Is it open? -Are there a lot of people who pass through here? -Is there a place that dishes out sought after loot or supplies? -Are there hills or tall buildings that offer someone a high FOV? -If you were to have a sniper rifle and kill someone, where would you be? -If you had to think of the most obvious "easy run straight there" route from popular location A to B, what would it be? Now avoid all that shit, because someone's probably sniping there. Plan your routes to avoid obvious sniping places. Keep to the forest, use hills to block potential sniper spots, zig zag, jump from cover to cover and change direction in case someone is tailing you, go out of your way to run that extra 1,000m just to avoid the "popular path". Use your binos to have a look at suspect tree lines / bushes / commanding buildings. Look on any of the interactive maps online which show you loot spots. High loot value spots or high population hot spots such as airports, fire stations, millitary tents, hospitals, supermarkets and especially Cherno / Elektro WILL lure in snipers because it's where people go. If you're shocked that a sniper shot you there, then you're fucking special in the head. It's common sense and if you need a map to show you common sense then you deserve to die. Use your noggin, or have it shot off. -

evulclown@gmail.com replied to mccullxch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's okay, i've already done it! http://i48.tinypic.com/fwma8y.jpg If people are too dumb to work out that there might be snipers lurking in high value loot locations / open terrain that's passed a lot by people / rolling high FOV hill sides / high population cities then they frankly deserve to learn where those "spots" are the hard way -- With a bullet to the face, they'll be a bit more careful next time. Or should we hold everyone's hands in case they have to work something out for themselves? Seriously? The generation that gets smiley face stickers whether they win or loose a game -- just for taking part! -

Guys, I just logged in to a server for the first time today and found 2 clowns at the NW airfield. After I gave them some ventilation holes, I found they were LOADED. Game rocks. There's a single player zombie mod for Arma II, maybe you're after that. PvP multiplayer involves good and bad things, it's the fun "risk" element. That can be eternally frustrating and awesomely fun. What they need to fix is people logging off as soon as they want to, you'll get a lot less people engaging in combat -- 30 second or 10 minutes if you kill someone or something because they can never be sure they will kill you and escape alive. Will sort the men from the boys. -

My friends were on Lu173 for apparox 1 hour on the 17/07/12, so were perhaps online from 21:30+, they only killed 1 person though so this could only have been him either on GC or his second account: Approx 22:40 MEL GIBSOM killed a guy called GC at the NW airfield. He was armed with a silenced M4 camo, had a ghillie suite on (although those dont work at the moment?) and had the starter backpack full of stanag mags. Had a full toolset including GPS, glock 17. Approx 5-10 minutes later someone apeared back at the NW airfield close to where he died except they were invisible and trying to track my friends down. They talked over direct chat saying "why did you kill me buddy? Huh? why did you kill me?" then they were firing a silenced M4 like the one GC died with. All that could be seen was the puffs of smoke -- They were literally invisible, all 3 people saw it he was standing right infront -- Mel Gibsom was killed by the guy. The others obviously logged because that was bullshit. So just to report an obvious hacker who raged at dying, please check the server logs and get give the guy what he deserves.
