  1. Very good idea, I actually have bonded with fellow survivors while having nothing and it adds a frantic "oh shit" element to things. However for literally new to this game, new guys, I would say a baseball bat would be nice and some food / can of drink. That's the bare minimum shit someone would grab when leaving the house.
  2. Pretty cool idea, good luck with that
  3. Bear traps are indeed far, far too rare They're something which should be a lot more common in such a rural setting. There is however another glaring issue with them and I hope that the dev team fixes the busyness of bear traps for the next patch as it's basically possible to lay a perpetually set bear trap (Will go off every time you walk over it) which is invisible and dupe another bear trap into your inventory.
  4. Bohemia Interactive thanks you for your money. You seem to be in the wrong forum though: http://forums.bistudio.com/
  5. Call your ISP up and ask them why your internet dropped. If their poor service is detrimental to your needs, as seems to be the case, then find a new ISP. If you have no better ISP choices in your country or area then perhaps a hardcore perma death game such as Dayz is not suitable to your hardware / internet connection limitations and you should find a new game to play. None of that should EVER effect how the game progresses. Bottom line is: Friend ran out of fuel in RL, got to go pick him up ASAP? ISP dies every 5 seconds? Raptors rampaging on the interstate, got to go take pictures? Mummy pulled the plug on you? PC overheated and died? Power cut? A upsetting case of mistaken identity lead to 5 ninjas attacking your house? Need a wee wee / poo poo? Dinner time? Friends arrived? Girlfriend is moaning at you to do something? Jehovas witnesses at the front door? Tree fell on the roof? Lightning took out your cables? Game crashed? Rogue pigeon smashed through your window and gouged out your eyeballs? Tough -- Fucking deal with it. RL should always come before a game -- That doesn't mean a 'multiplayer, PVP enabled, hardcore game' needs to conform to your RL. If a RL situation trumps you playing the game, then wait until you can log out safely or take the potential ingame death like a man.. Life's a bitch. If you want a game where you can press pause or disconnect whenever you damn well feel like it regardless of what's happening in game, or have some hardware / internet / software / external problem and expect to log back in unaffected, then play a single player game.
  6. They use the same ammunition. Damage doesn't need to "change" in some arbitrary bullshit unrealistic "balance"
  7. Get some better friends. Being in a group of actually "skilled" people is very helpful. The game dosen't need some artificial skill system. I've got some cautious friends, some good pvp friends, some sneaky friends, friends who know good locations / vehicle spawns. Friends are helpful, they can guard my body, they can watch my back, they can save me, they can carry or share things i might need, they're fun to play with, I can be tactical with them. Extra eyes and opinions can save my life. If people could not Alt+F4 out of the game I would kill a lot less people. Quite honestly, If I could taser people and hog tie them I'd be starting some pokemon collection of survivors. But really though, you could mug people and be on your way. I've made people log out who have been pretty tooled up using only what I had to hand... a torch and direct chat. Which is pretty fucking silly.
  8. Holy shit, Azrael72 just rained down a logic monsoon in here. I'm drowning in it.
  9. Just for the record, this is a "Multiplayer PvP survival horror simulator" with "infected humans" as the apocalyptic cause. This was never marketed as a millitary fighting sim, a zombie co op killing game, a lets make friends 3d facebook game or any other kind of shit. It's what you make of the game. There's millitary locations which contain milspec weaponry. There's civilian locations which contain equally applicable weaponry. The tools are what would be laying around in the event and the "game" is what you make of it. You're the people that are hung up on "what it should be" and instead of doing something in game, you turn to the forum to demand that Rocket comes hold your hand and conforms the game to your precious needs.
  10. You set the bar for irrationality so high...
  11. Only a matter of time until the next hacker script which places campfire places at 30m intervals all over an entire map at the click of a button followed by the old "tactical nuke" rendering the server unlogable.
  12. Oh okay, clearly your awesome IQ puts you above rational thought. You carry on picketing for the ridiculous, little Einstein. Good luck with that.
  13. HI guys, my name is Robert Merello and I have a problem where I get mad when someone kills me. I refuse to adapt to the situation or learn how to avoid it, I just make excuses such as "I wasn't prepared -- He had a better weapon -- He had better camouflage" yada yada yada. You can kill a sniper in a ghillie suit using a Makarov and your brain. Try it some time. I'm not very awesome Robert, and I killed 4 different snipers around Elektro the other day armed with much much more inferior equipment compared to them. Why can't you do that? Why instead do you have to moan that the game is broken? When I die, it's my fault plain and simple. Even if the dude has a thermal L85. I died to one of those recently. It was still my fault, I knew the risks in the area I was in and pushed my luck.
  14. Lets get rid of the guns altogether and... the "zombies", as you put it, too. Who likes dying? Not you, no. Lets replace the "zombies" with ponies and replace the guns with cute accessories! That would be the perfect game for you wouldn't it? Oh wait, that already exists: http://www.hasbro.co...:en_MY&DUMPIT=0 Off you go.
  15. Cya then and stop posting here about it. You can go post on their "personal" hive forum and hold hands with each other. You clearly disagree with the ideals that its creator of Dayz seems to stand for and you obviously have no qualms in not testing for this Alpha. So why are you still here demanding the game conform to your personal needs? It is a way of starting up with some stability. But in a lot of cases, they're simply locking the server to abuse their admin ability. Either to only let friends into the server in order to farm or get them a slot easily or to recover something they've lost (body / vehicle / relocate a camp). There's servers locked for most of the day... I've found so many vehicles from camps and had the server restart within minutes of going on a joy ride or the server lock down. I now hide them in obscure places or burn down the entire camp if I find some.
  16. All I ask is that users are given the choice and freedom to do as they please. It would seem rocket appreciates that. That's what I stated before. Any artificial "limitation" on PvP is lame. Start a Dayz police force if you want? I'm all for it man -- Go make a thread in the survivor section "Andrej's Police squad -- Call us for help!". Kickass. But don't be forcing every player in the game to play "your" way via some ridiculous obstructive artificial game limitation. Force me in game to play your way, fine -- That's the game, as long as you're not exploiting some bug or hack to do it. Stop needing the game to hold your hand to fix your problems. You're the sort of person that requires the sign "warning, may contain nuts" on the side of a packet of peanuts. Literally the post before last you linked the website and demanded to know where it said the game was PvP... REALLY? I still believe you're meta trolling me.
  17. All your other arguments aside, can I just point out how stupid this is? God forbid someone actually attempt to blend into their surroundings or use camouflage / field craft to stay a little un noticed. You know in real life I can hide in trees and bushes too? The army tries to teach it a fair amount, apparently it lets you get shot at less. And ghillie suites do not make you overheat. Do you even know what one is? It's a fucking normal jacket / trousers / boiler suit with netting all over it to hold some vegetation / Hessian "potato sack" strips. You can go do barrel roles all day in it and run basically as well as you can in trousers. The only issues with it would be occasionally getting snagged on thorns or twigs. You can ghillie up your backpack / guns / underwear too. In game ghillie suites actually stand out against a lot of material, but it still does its job well in breaking up the human outline and being a vegetation colour. That being said I've spotted and executed many wookies -- They're not predator
  18. It's not just L85 related. They did disappear due to the anti hacking error in 1.7.2? But now there's problems with the hive saving peoples inventories properly. If you pick up a new weapon swap it in your backpack a bit. Kill a zombie to save location and wait 5 - 10 minutes before logging off, if you're lucky you'll have your stuff.
  19. Andrej, could you please go play with your lego while the big boys and girls have a discussion. I'll buy you some ice cream when we're done okay? Oh by the way: http://dayzmod.com/f..._160#entry32219 Some semblance of server persistence would actually draw in a community. 20 - 100 player servers that you'll play on maybe once and then hop off to one of the other hundreds of servers means you're playing with totally random people all the time. There's no sense of community bond at all. I've met and made friends with plenty of people in dayz by using my mic. It's mostly when I'm a fresh spawn but I've had gentlemans agreements higher up the map too. With the exception of one (I got his steam name), I will never see those people again. The problem with persistent communities though, is you will not stop the killing. You people don't seem to understand how humans work. You will actually regulate the server and form groups of good and bad guys and there will be organized wars over certain zones of the map by the various groups of a server. You'll have people acting as a sort of police and perhaps completely random killing will die down a little until one group becomes "all powerful" and can do whatever they want. Those bandits you despise will be the overlords of you carbears and while you all huddle in Cherno fire station singing "kumbaya my lord". The bandit rabble will be organized into some 30+ player army which will completely own all of the airfields and go on raids to steal all of your things -- They'll break apart and fight each other in power struggles too. But if you think you're going to settle down and start a "little house on the prairie" style sanctuary which will be super safe forever then you're sorely mistaken. Genghis Khan is going to ride in with his fucking hoard and pillage you. The countries in the world were formed via wars of aggression / land snatching / eating weaker tribes or countries. Don't think your countries were formed by being nice friendly people.
  20. Complete and utter lack of server regulation both on how the admins act abuse wise and what hardware they are running for the slot allocation they're advertising. Hence a lot of servers being desynchy shit piles and a lot being passworded. The Dayz dev team is currently in over their heads so any assclown can sign up on the server form and get white listed to own their personal playground. The only thing you can do is document a server you see doing that and then post in the cheat report forum / server forum to bad mouth them. If anyone even bothers to read it, all it takes is the admin to make a 2 paragraph post trying to sound reasonable and completely denying your claims "we were just testing something, the server crashed it was just a coincidence it happened right as you found our clans camp / vehicle stash!" etc. They'll often change their server name too. Very few servers get penalised for breaking the rules laid down for server usage. You'll see admins regularly kicking people / closing servers if they die or loose anything from camps / locking servers til they regain items lost or farm areas. There's several servers running with 1 - 10 slots which is against the rules. The dev team has little if any funding and Rocket seems unwilling to share out responsibilities to other dev team members so he's causing a pretty huge bottleneck considering how small the team is. Couple that with him disappearing off to other countries every week to do interviews it's amazing we even get updates. He probably needs to step back and stop micromanaging everything, but it's hard to find trust able skilled people to help him I guess -- Especially if they're unpaid. I don't even bother reporting it anymore, it's too hard to actually prove what happened using only un-time stamped screen shots which could have been doctored. And it seems fruitless anyway. Same goes for hackers, they're so plentiful at the moment the cheat abuse section is flooded, you need a server admin to somehow see your report and check their logs or have a video or something and even then it's falling on deaf ears. The way it stands, whoever paid for the server = has the rights to any vehicle on that server. If you find the stash don't bother thinking you'll be able to keep any of it. They'll lock the server until they've found it all again then relocate it to another area. Frankly, I don't think Rocket really cares. This is a test bed for him and he's more interested in shoving wild features into the game rather than spend all his efforts sorting a lot of the abuse / cheating / duping / game breaking exploits as he figures that stuff will be less rampant once it's standalone.
  21. 30 minutes is not a very long period of time... Stop off along the way and hit deer stands / towns / barns. Listen to music. The NWAF is not the be all of dayz.
  22. Yup, and still a very sought after weapon system to boot TBH.
  23. What lol. Another issue is it kind of makes you have "tunnel vision" because of having such a long zoom so make sure to look behind you a lot or have a team mate guard you. I got the one I had before sneaking up behind 2 clowns who had L85's overwatching Elektro. Wouldn't be too upset if it just stopped spawning in the game. At this stage however, they shouldn't outright "remove it" people spent ages trying to loot that stuff -- The numbers will whittle down eventually. Despite the minor limitations, you're able to spot people in a 360 radius out to the draw distance of the map. Even if they're behind a bush you can probably spot a bright white glowing foot. No one can sit there and say "that's not OP". Weapons don't need to be "fair" and "super balanced" but don't sit there lying out your asses pretending the scope isn't ridiculous :P
  24. It's pretty useless as a weapon on it's own, it's a team gun or a 2nd primary. It's very hard to use it to spot things at close or medium range because of the low FOV seeing as it's so zoomed in. You need crosshairs enabled or you're gimped. The weapon can zero to 800m, but seeing as it fires 5.56 like the M16, you'll need like 6 body shots at that range for a kill. With the forward hand grip it has lower recoil though and it's pretty accurate but its not a practical weapon for sniping on its own. However, as a spotter for a sniper or a 2ndry weapon for a lone sniper it's absolutely trolling. You can spot targets through fog out to the draw distance. So if you've got a long range view that a sniper would usually have you can pinpoint a player very easilly. It's just varying shades of red and then a player or zombie or animal stands out as bright white. You can see it's a player if he dosen't move like a zombie / has a backpack on. Coupled with that, it can flick to night vision and even has a laser which only shows up at night so you could mark a target in the darkness for your whole team to see if they had NVG. So in a team or spotting from far = Ridiculously OP and seems pretty out of place in this "game". But then no one said this "game" had to be balanced, in fact that's the idea of it I guess. L85 spotter with laser range finder goggles + AS50 sniper + M4 silenced "guarding" their back = unbeatable sniper team.
  25. What part of dayz beyond it being multiplayer makes you think that it's a 3D habo hotel where you log in purely to make "internet buddies"?
