Has DayZ made you laugh out loud?
LockeDown replied to lugaru's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I laugh a lot at the things that happen in DayZ. Most recent hilarious moment was me accidentally murdering Caviano in a darker than dark server when our group was in a panic. I felt bad, but I couldn't help but laugh. -
We were on our way to recover a vehicle; my pack was laden with essentials for getting the beast running. It was so god damn dark. My team and I tried to reconnect with eachother at some powerlines; as each of us was drawing in to the location- all hell broke loose. One man is gunned down my an unidentified assailant. We scramble, but can't find the body or the shooter. I can't see at all, and I start panicking. Then, right in front of me- I see a man. He isn't proned. A com chatter clusterfuck ensues. "I see someone!" "Prone, prone!" "Shoot him!" "Who is it?" "He's throwing a flare!" "FIRE!" I pop two shots, and the man drops. At the same time my heart sinks. I've just shot my friend Caviano in a moment of panic and fear. Mere seconds would have spared his life with recognition, but I had jumped the gun in my state of high adrenaline. I grab what I can off his body and tell my team they'll have to continue on without me. With the help of my new friend Grom; I set out on the path of redemption.

Suggestions to make this an amazing game. (zombies related)
LockeDown replied to sumusiko's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All of these ideas have been suggested before; just a heads up that the concept is out there already. -
Everything breaks over time. If you wanted full realism; your gun should fall to shit without maintainence; your flashlight shouldn't work if it gets submerged in water- the soles on your shoes should wear thin, and your clothes probably would end up in tatters. Realism is nice, and I'm not entirely against the idea- it's just where do you draw the line of realism? Why the hatchet and not guns?

Dropped flashlight. How can I get a character reset?
LockeDown replied to Ikkok's topic in New Player Discussion
Respawn. Hit esc, and then respawn. Abort to lobby, and rejoin. To use a flashlight; right click it while it's in your toolbelt and equip it. Read the DayZ wiki. It will make things easier for you. -
Take time to familiarize yourself. Wiki up.

Sins of a hacking gamer...
LockeDown replied to DigitGreen (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't fail to see that. I just don't find 'learning from something' to be a wholly viable excuse. I've learned from plenty of mistakes. It doesn't relieve me of those actions just because I learned from them. -
Sins of a hacking gamer...
LockeDown replied to DigitGreen (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm all for redemption and forgiveness; we are all flawed and bound to 'screw up'. That said; I really, really, REALLY dislike any and all propositions for hacking/cheating in games. In the end; the basics remain. You will go through a period of villification(here and now) and then you just have to pick your shit up and keep plugging on. Nothing more to it. Edit: spelling. -
What a fun encounter that was.

Keep your senses keen; check you corners, and good luck out there.

We did find PDW's in excess. However, I was the only one in the group who liked them- and I was full on ammo upon showing up.

The group I was with hit the NW airfield with extreme tactics and force; only to have no one there and very little viable gear there. We went back east. I'm sure we'll be back at NWAF in no time, lol.

At Night time I can not see at all
LockeDown replied to joeycookson's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Use a flashlight, flares or chemlights. Then you can make your way through the dark. -
New to DAYZ, regretting buy arma to play "the best zombie game"
LockeDown replied to thehighexalted's topic in New Player Discussion
Bandage: Right click in inventory. Use. Using things in general. Mousewheel through options. Click. and as a subnote; a better attitude will bring you a much better experience in this game. If you're this frazzled over basic controls- you're in for a treat. -
"Swim motherfucker swim!"

This made me smile.

I would like to see a player easily be able to express their intentions from a distance.
LockeDown replied to gangrenetvp's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't like the idea of the flag; I think you'll just be shot with a flag. The idea about friending another player to prevent PvP would deny you one of the most emotional experiences in DayZ. Getting scrambled from your comrade, and in the confusion of a battle one of you accidentally kills the other. It's happened to me both ways. My character lived with that shame, and it was awesome. as for the band/other forms of physical identification- they don't work properly. Someone who is new decided to try and murder you; they fail- you defend yourself and kill them. You are now marked as a bandit. There is too much context to why someone is killed to define it in black and white; good/bad. -
I met the most kind guy in DayZ so far. In cherno.

It's called sadism. lulz. -
Who are the people who seal off buildings?
LockeDown replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I never wholly seal a building; though I've been known to sanction a block of the city to relax in when I'm trying to plot my next destination. Always enterable. Sometimes doubles as an aid station for passersby -
Some servers have a map that reveals your position. It also reveals anyone you 'see' while looking around and vice versa. Other servers simply have the maps, and require you to rely on topographical skills.

Invisible hacker gave me stuff, how should I get rid of it?
LockeDown replied to Kegan187's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Swim out and drop it in the ocean. Feed the fish ammunition -
The other night me and 2 friends were making our way through Cherno in the night by tossing out flares and taking turns walking with the flashlight while the others covered the light carrier from behind in the darkness. My friend stops suddenly. "Uh, guys...Pull out your maps." A marker has appeared on the map at our current location. It reads: 'I'm watching you.' Panic sets in immediately. We break for cover into a nearby building. We knew we would draw more attention with the flares then with the flashlight, so we move out using our cover the lightbearer tactic. We make it out of Cherno and start heading north. My friend stops again; says "Oh shit, he's following us man!" and then begins bolting north into the dark forest. I kill the light and prone out to check my map. At our current location; sitting in the middle of a field- another marker has appeared. "Still watching." We freak out and follow suit; blindly running into the woods hoping for sanction. We all get seperated, and by the time we can meet up we are the last people in the server. No shots fired, no direct chat voice...Just a map. A map that made that night a paranoid hell.
