    Rimfire Weapons

Sure, but Cherno is somewhere between Kurgan and Vorkuta cities (if it's actually Russia), which makes it a place for a very little amount of wealthy hunters. Most will stick to more traditional hunting weapons. And you can't get weapon license for "self defence". At-least it is what I've read from people saying on forums - it's like police insists that you won't ever need a firearm for self-defence. This leaves us with more-or-less described situation: 80% of double-barreled shotguns and less than 5% of imported semi-auto. Automatic - only in military spawn-zones, and over 99% USSR/Russia made.

    Zombies hit then running

Yes, another way to promote DCing and next wave of whining "give us starter weapon", right... And since when zombies move faster than human? Did you watch horror movies at all?

Character spawning fresh when upgrading to 1.7.2.3 from 1.7.1.5

But I can still play my char when installing 1.7.1.5. And on MANY servers. Isn't that a sign that char exists in hive?

Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine

I can't deactivate mod via game interface - can't launch ArmA:CO via Steam, but when start through beta bat file - can't disable any of the extensions. Should I remove "-mod=@dayz" from bat file first?

    Rimfire Weapons

You will much luckily find a SKS hunting rifle in post-soviet countryside, than ANY .22 rimfire weapon. explanation: the only place where .22 was is soviets used is sport. Like biathlon. Main civilian use of a weapon in a soviet union was hunting, therefore most used weapons would be 12cal and 16cal (I guess over 80%), and 7.62x39, (SKS was widely used for hunting; I guess 5%). Other available cartridges would be 7,62x54, 9,3х64, soviet 7,62х51 (close to .308, but not always compatible), .30-06. (maybe 10% altogether) And EXTREMELY rare find would be any weapon with different cartridge. Even AK-74 5,45x39 cartridge would be extremely rare, as it was produced for military use and banned for civilians.

New Inventory (Made one as an example, have a look)

It looks simple to operate, but a little too big. And if you loot, it will have to become even bigger to be able to transfer items.

    Hematophagy - another drinking source?

I know in many cultures people consume blood of a hunted animals, and I think a blood should be available for drinking after animal is killed and gutted. As an option it may partly restore hunger level, and partly restore thirst level.

    Hematophagy - another drinking source?

You are right! I see DayZ as a survival simulation game. No... Extreme survival simulation game. A game where people would steal from each other, lie to each other, betray each other, kill each other (even on a first sight, while being safe 500m away from you), and much more. Just to survive. And someone tells me that drinking animal blood for survival is WRONG? LMAO! Yes, I will flame that person for trolling me in a first place.

    Hematophagy - another drinking source?

LOL. I know that middle-east religions (both Islam and Judaism) taboo blood consumption, but in most of EU and in USA people consume blood products. Just a few on a list: blood sausage, black pudding, blood pancakes, blood soup, blood tofu etc. And some cultures consume raw blood. So what is a problem with drinking a blood when person is extremely dehydrated? You don't like it? Don't do it then. You shoot live people in a computer game? Dang...what is up with you guys and the psycho ideas today? LOL

Poll: DayZ or The War Z?

Why not? WarZ is developed for a year already, it's in late alpha stage. Presale is said to be started in a week or so, and Closed Beta is to start at the same time. The only issue I can imagine is ballistics in the game: I love how player has to account for bullet-drop. I love ricochets (at-least simulation of it), etc. So if a WarZ is a point-and-shoot - it's a no-no for me. In other case - I'm all in for both games. upd. My bad, beta won't start till fall. But you will be able to reserve yourself a closed beta with a preorder.
  12. andris.orinskis@gmail.com

Standalone game from the DayZ devs?

It's called "preorder", and, usually, grants buyer some bonuses over the shelf-sold copies. I'd go for one, granting it's more-or-less same price as ArmA CO has, and it will be subscription free.

    Suggestion: Armored Vehicle

As far as I understand some tanks were built on the chassis of tractors. Therefore regular civilian farmers can drive at-least some of the tanks. :D

    New Enemy - Z D

Wild life. I'd like to have some dangerous wild-life species in the woods. Now, if you are out of city, in woods, you can feel relatively safe. What is needed - some bears, wolf packs, etc. Not too many, but very aggressive. And hard-to-kill.

    To many guns?

This would explain military bases, but civilians would not have automatic weapons anyway. And I would expect much more of roadblocks and checkpoints with mounted heavy machine-guns from an ex-war zone.
  16. andris.orinskis@gmail.com

    To many guns?

Personally I support "less guns" point of view. We don't try to find a weapon any more. We look for specific weapon now, like AS50, Bison, etc. which makes this game much less survivor style. If you take Russia as of today, only 3 man out of 100 hold a licensed weapon. And I believe at-least 80% of those are double barrelled shotguns. That means you would have to go through houses for hours to find any. I wanted to find M9 SD SO MUCH. Until I actually found it. IMO it's a crap! Feels like you have to hit a zombie 5 times before it dies, and it's nearly impossible to make a headshot. For me a full magazine lasts for 3 zombies. And then try to find more of that rare SD M9 ammo, good luck... I've switched to PDW:uses literally ANY 9x19 ammo, and when used with SD ammo - zombies don't hear you at all.

    Walkie Talkies.

Probably it was brought up already, but many DayZ admins host dedicated TS server as well. But I'd love to use walkie talkie just to push a button and try to listen for an in-game sounds of people hiding close by :D

no wonder the military is all dead...they didnt have guns

It has been looted before you came. Some of it is in my backpack. ;)

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

How do you plan to hide that thing??? Except for flying it faaar awaaaay in to wilderness?

    A Lootable Wal-Mart?

LOL. 1. There are supermarkets in Russia already, but not in sub-5000 residents towns. 2. Weapons are NOT being sold in grocery shops. Not in Russia.
  21. andris.orinskis@gmail.com

    Flashlights, Night, Hatchet, Ammo, Loot

    1. Have no strong opinion there - I thought military flashlights are meant to be less visible for those with NVG, as red light is not that amplified with night vision tubes. 2. Agree. Human eye can easily see in dark high details, when sky is clear. Just b/w, but nevertheless. 3. You can. All you need is 10 slots in backpack for your main weapon, and like 2 minutes to make like 50 mouse-clicks to do that :D It SHOULD be less cumbersome. AND WHY CANT YOU SWITCH WEAPON ON THE MOVE???? Why do you have to stand still for 3 seconds to put AK away and to pull makarov out - is beyond me. 4. Actually this is survival game. If you don't struggle to survive - DayZ fails as a game. 5. Learn where to find specific loot: matches, compass, watches, map - shops. Less in civilian buildings (houses, apartments, hotels). Weapons - military/security areas: fire stations, airports, military tents, military barracks. Ammo - anywhere. But 99.9% your loot will be junk. :/ Sry, but this is apocalypse. Even more: this is apocalypse in Russia! Place where no electricity, no tap water, no gas, no internet, no phone - is a pretty common and normal life.

    You want a currency system?

To be honest my first impression of game was "Why these drunk russians are so mad at me and trying to kill me?". They don't look like zombies, they look like russian folks who had a huge party yesterday and are living through some bad hangover :D That would explain all empty bottles, constant groaning, and some folks crawling on the ground!
  23. It feels like too many items use a full primary equipment slot. Like painkiller, morphine/epi auto-injectors, antibiotics. Basically all the medicine items. And some of them should be re-usable as-well - usually box of painkillers contains at-least 6 doses. Really small box. And some items like of matches: imagine you have one box in tool-belt, but if you want to take one more for your buddy, it will use same slot in a backpack as a full magazine for AK-47? Same thing with compass, watches, etc. And two half-used magazines/clips of ammo. Why can't I combine them into one full clip, to take less space in an inventory? Simple "combine ammo" button, that rearranges available ammo into full magazines/clips. And when you make a camp-fire, why do you have to take wood into your inventory? It should be just a rightclick on a hatchet to bring "create a fireplace" and "collect wood" options (in case you really want to take some wood with you). And if you pick "create a fireplace" it creates a fireplace near you. I know this one is not so critical, but it just makes no real sense, and you have to take care not to lose some ammo while you make a fireplace. Any thoughts?
  24. andris.orinskis@gmail.com

More items to carry in secondary equipment slots.

I would agree that there are more critical issues, but since DayZ will go live either standalone or with ArmA3, I believe many of current big code issues will be irrelevant to new engine, and few new even bigger issues will arise. Therefore the only thing that really should be tweaked at this stage - gameplay. imo
