Alpha. That's all. Don't get overly attached to your gear as you will inevitably loose them either though death or bug. As of this bug-report: were you lagging? Your data might of not saved correctly as a response to the lag.

Find a map in-game, decipher the road-signs in its weird lettering, pin-point the location on the map. Or if you feel like cheating a bit, use this external map. http://dayzmap.info/ Another alternative is to check bottom right corner when logging into a server. It'll say where you are and you can look on the map and go from there.

Against humans? M14 with the scope attachment. I think that's the off-spring of a grimy, hardcore, big-ass Guan Yu looking motherfucker. Leroy Enfield combined with an average decent assault rifle. What do you got? Yeah, that's right, the M14. It's very rare however, only had it once when I got it from a lucky barrack spawn. ;)

I don't bother with them. If I can, I leave, if there's a chance I'll get shot in the back on my way out, I'm going to kill him. Rather not take the chance, and seeing how everyone treats this as a deathmatching game I have no problems doing that. I condone friendly game-play and more than often I'll help people out. If they don't have microphone, screw them. It's a loose solution to the bandit problem but as for now it'll have to do. Hence I have neutral status. :)

Use voice-chat. I can usually read a player by his voice. If he acts dodgy in chat fuck that, I'm just going to bust a few shots in his head. If he seems friendly and nice in voice-chat I tag along with them. Works every time. I kill people who spawn before me near barracks/military tents whenever, though. I don't give a shit about loot hoarders.
