Speaking of camping Stary and the NWAF, I think people have hyped the deadlyness of those places so much, no one even goes there, I've been on like 10 different servers (I don't have a tent or vehicle, no reason to be bound to one) and I've only even seen one guy at the airfield EVER. Mind you the moment he saw me he instantly started shooting, shame he didn't respond to my "friendly?" over direct chat, he took me down to 6000 blood from 9000 (He was a terrible shot, I wasn't even shooting at him). Anyway, moral of the story is, if he doesn't answer you, he's going to shoot you.

I wonder if it Rocket would be open to the idea of having people work in tangent with him and develop DayZ on CryEngine or Unreal Engine while he continues with Arma...
-
Then DayZ would turn into a massive demo derby with zombies running all over the place in an attempt to kill the cars, that, or highway traffic is going to pick up.

NPCs... No. They're deadly as hell, they can see from a mile away and are all snipers from the glorious master race. So no.

Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
CarloNord replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well see that's where the problem comes in, imagine if this super awesome clan comes by, powers up Cherno, Electro, and everything in between the two cities and patrols the area to kill any zombies spawning, halleluiah for all the noobs right? WRONG, if turning the lights on in cities stops loot from spawning, that's going to severely hurt people who are spawning/respawning on the coast. So at bare minimum the loot should be reduced 50%, personally I prefer the idea of just a 0-25% reduction in loot spawning (preferably zero, powering the generator should be difficult and rewarding), so you can't just turn the lights on and fuck the spawns up. Even if zombies are nullified, there's no food, weapons, ammo, supplies, etc. Understand my view? -
Cool story bro. As for the SUV found in the picture, it used to be legitimate, but was removed, along with the MH-6J Little Bird chopper in a patch a while back, check the wiki, it's your best friend. But the fact you found it means either A: Hacked B: Old server version (doubt it even exists)

Campfires... and the flames are from destroyed vehicles... How is this a suggestion?
-
That's the same thing... Nothing changed from current night...

I'm amazed, this seems like a very good idea to fix all that hoarding and crap. But you know what'll happen, the people who manage to get the first vehicles will begin to hoard them, and then it'll be the same situation, unless the vehicle limit is like 50.

Here, you deserve more than beans. (Does anyone know how I can display these pictures and gifs so you don't have to click on them?)

Base Building/Endgame Suggestion- Shipping Crates!
CarloNord replied to Bribase's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Good idea, what exactly will the crates be used for at the base? Something specific or you use the scroll wheel to pick a function for it? Like a barracks where you can regenerate blood up to 9-10 thousand? Maybe simply for storage and it can hold up to 400 items, 30 backpacks, and 50 weapons? Or you could simply use it as an "airlock" type door for your base's entrance. I love it! -
There's already one, not sure if there's more and I'm not sure if they spawn loot though. It's at the very bottom right of the map, the tip of land still connected to the mainland, not the island just off the mainland. I see where you're going though, they could be an awesome find for somone just spawning, but that means you need to limit the loot so they just aren't instantly over-powered, say you could find toolboxes, matches, hatchets, maps, etc. Basic stuff, but no guns.

This would be very interesting... Anyone else thinking treehouse cities connected by bridges?
-
Does anyone even know what the current vehicle limit even is?

Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
CarloNord replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ah, good to see this post again, I believe last time I was here I was discussing whether or not zombie spawns should be affected by the power being on? I still think they should spawn in the area, just not in the city/town/camp, like on the outskirts maybe. And for loot, I'm torn between no difference and 25-50% less loot. -
Don't forget that you get bogged down in deep snow. Also, igloos, igloos would be nice, or some kind of snow-based structure

You earned my beans solely for the length of your post and the dedication put into it. Everything else just strengthened my want to give beans. You seem to have thought out nearly all factors pertaining to switching engines, and based on what you've said, I'm confident that they could turn it into a standalone by February (mind you it'd probably be in alpha/beta).

They could really be anywhere, hell, I own my own headlight! The damn things are cheap as dirt. They should be rare however, like, more so than the military flashlight, or even exactly as rare.

Buff: - Amount of land vehicles on the map, not too much though. - Zombies aren't deadly enough, there needs to be a reason for people to group up, these things just aren't that big of a threat. Nerf: - Ammo should be VERY hard to come by, not to the point where you find one clip for the thing like once a day, just make it hard and give you a good reason to group up so there's people with different guns, so there's more ammo for the group. - Food is pretty easy to come by if you know where to look, could use a little bit of nerfing sense it's able to be found everywhere pretty much. - Zombies and their zig zag pattern, along with wall and door walking.
-
Don't worry, we love you too.

Stand still for about 3 seconds or get off my forum.

Here you go. EDIT [it seems Food is correct... this post is stupid and genius... It's ingeniously stupid... Stupidly genius?]
-
Oh, ya I knew you agreed, it's just it's 3 in the morning here and I'm too damn tired to formulate sentences correctly so sometimes it may seem like I'm just blazing off in a totally wrong direction or simply not making sense.

First off, if a buggy mod got BI almost 1 million sales? I think a standalone game with the graphics and abilities of the CryEngine would rip up the market ladder. I personally think that Moving off Arma's engine is the best way to go, it'll be able to push him to serious heights. Now, as for The War Z, I've been actually trying to look up information on it, but I can't seem to find anything different from the PCGamer spotlight. As for it being a flop? I don't know, it looks alright. They've got the stuff to pull it off, but what it's really going to take is dedication. It kinda reminds me of Dead Frontier, it's not the worst game, and you can't really complain because it's free, but that's the same base idea of The War Z. Where they differ from DayZ is that in DayZ, you're not safe until you make it safe, it's all by the player, for the player. Where as in The War Z they've got NPCs and forts. It looks to be A decent MMORPG but I'll know nothing till I've played it, I'm sure alot of fame is coming from it's name seemingly resembling DayZ though. But anyway, moving to a new engine specifically designed for the game is the best way to go. Even more so when you consider roughly 25-30 million has been made off CO sales due to DayZ.

I want it, and how about your movement speed is reduced to not being able to sprint? or maybe a 5% reduction to speed as well as no sprinting? And sense this would be a vehicle technically, it would have different speeds on terrain, perfect... Can it have a bicycle bell to? :P
