I bandaged a girl after she shot at me (but missed) and got hit by zombies. She ran away. Some people are just trigger scared and not bandits, luckily they are also bad shots.

You're doing it wrong. Zeds are best used to attack other players with guns when you don't have one. Use them like a weapon.

Right, because hacking and cheating make dayz that much more fun because superman is on the server. Do me a favor ok? Get a rope tie a knot and make a loop, next place it around your head and tighten it against your neck. Find a high ceiling and tie the rope to that and make sure your feet are unable to touch the ground ok? Now kick that chair from under your feet and see how much fun you have. Ok? Having fun?

I was shot by a noob yesterday in Cherno, however I had a flashlight in their face so they could not see me and missed. I ran outside the church and aggroed zombies and brought them back to chase the girl who shot me. They actually managed to hit her as she was trying to shoot me and she began to bleed. Amused, I ran after her and yelled, stop, if you don't shoot me I will bandage you. I have bandages and no weapon, just this flashlight. She actually stopped and let me bandage her, I was expecting to be shot next but she just got up and ran away.... I guess I had luck since she was not really trying to kill me, I must have scared her with my flashlight I guess.

My new spawn fades in and the words cherno appear in the lower right section of my screen. Since I am a fresh spawn I am free to run around, no fear of losing anything. I head straight for the grocery store to find goodies. On my way there I decide to make a quick stop at the church. I turn on my flashlight, because I know if someone is there and sees my flashlight they will be immediately clued that I don't have a weapon, and since the rifle with the flashlight is rare I'm hoping they won't shoot someone unarmed. I walk in slowly, the church looks deserted and empty, I move deeper and deeper checking the corners, I move my flashlight to the right and I see a girl! She has a makarov pointed in my direction but since it's night time and my flashlight is pointed directly at her face I know she can't see or aim well because I am blinding her, at least I hope I am. Sure enough she fires off a shot, misses. I run out of the church and turn a corner then go prone near a tree. She doesn't follow. I wait a few seconds, then decide to make a run for it. I want to aggro zombies, since I don't have a weapon I need additional targets to take the heat off me. Zombies are a great way to defend yourself when you don't have any ammo or a gun. So I start running around cherno like an idiot, I pick up an empty can and throw it at a window to smash it and make noise. My zed friends take notice and begin their chase, screeching with blood thirsty snarls that echo past the hollow streets of Cherno. My footsteps echo as I run through the streets and I hear more and more footsteps gaining fast behind me pounding the pitch black asphalt. I have about 4 or 5 zeds now chasing me. I run back toward the church and I see the girl walking out, her back turned to me, I start running towards her with a horde of zombies and I shout "Hey there, want to meet some friends of mine?" Startled she turns around and begins to shoot at me again! Horrible shot though missing every time, the Zeds are now focused on her and they actually manage to hit her once making her bleed. She tries shooting but the zeds are overpowering her. Sweet! She begins to run now, unable to shoot back and bleeding. I follow, I figure what the heck, if I die I won't lose any loot except my flashlight, but if she bleeds to death I get her guns. It was quite funny like an episode of Benny Hill, Old man chasing a young girl in town with a hoard of zombies following. The girl is still bleeding as she is running, trying to turn corners to lose the zeds. She manages to lose them and since I see that she is not stopping I yell "Hey, stop running, I have bandages I can heal you, I have no weapons just a flashlight!" I wanted to see if this person was actually a bandit or just frightened being alone in a dark church. Again, I don't care if I lose anything at this point I'm curious about her intentions more then her loot. She stops! kneels and lets me bandage her, I'm expecting that makarov to go off any second. I finish bandaging her she stands up. says nothing and runs away.... Who knew I would actually help someone who shot me, but I figured that since she was such a terrible shot and missed me so many times that she was not a bandit, just a frightened civilian with a gun. Afterward I found a crossbow at the school in town, and I actually managed to kill a real bandit, dude had EVERYTHING. I was on the top floor of the school and I saw him running up the steps, he shot me a few times but only managed to make me bleed. I put an arrow straight through his skull and was delighted to see him collapse on the steps. I took his coyote pack, range finders, nv goggles, silenced weapons etc. I don't know what happened to the girl but I got my loot and I saved a noob from bleeding to death. Cherno is a great place!

What's the big deal? He is just reporting "bugs", and there are a lot of bugs.

you played on a hacked server most likely that did not report your coordinates to the main hive, the new servers you joined most likely were connected to the hive but since you had logged off on a hacked server you respawned at the shore line. This is better then re spawning without any gear at least, so I guess it's getting better?

Why should they NOT play on full servers? So what if they hack, they have no gaming skills anyway so I'm not worried if I lose gear to hackers. I can find it again and for me the pull of the game is not the gear but playing with a team. If we get killed oh well, just start over and get even better stuff. Hackers are a problem but they don't hurt us at all, they hurt the mod and Rocket has to spend time patching hacks instead of making a kick ass game.....

They are not playing DayZ they are just trolling the mod, not interested in the game at all or the challenge and even if they were I doubt they could play for more then 2 minutes without cheating, they have no gaming skills. You gotta feel sorry for them because they need crutches like retarded children.

when i see a glitch now I leave the server. If anyone throws bombs at you and misses its better to leave the hacked vehicle and go to another server. Chances are the vehicle is not legit anyway. Neither are the crash sites you found, he most likely spawned them for you as bait.

LOG OUT, quit right away, if you spawn thunder domed or are dead before you enter, quit the server right away. Get on another server and you should get all your gear back, your position will be at the shore line but at least you don't lose a thing.

Sounds like you were on a hacked server where you got your gear.

Currently, It's impossible to tell which bugs are game related vs hacked. I was told that when you crash a hacked vehicle it just dissapears, and it makes me wonder what other kinds of bad stuff happens when hackers are running servers. How can you even ban someone if the admin is a hacker? It's really too bad because the game development for this mod will not get any better, in fact it's getting worse and it's impossible to tell which bugs are due to hackers and which bugs are legit. So, to say well what do you expect from an alpha mod is pointless, because this issue is deeper then just being an alpha, it has directly affected the testing of the product because the game is highly prone to tampering. The problem is not with an alpha mod or even dayz, it's the arma2 engine itself and while dayz is using this engine the problems will just multiply.

If you believe this you are either misguided or naive. Most hackers use cracked copies of arma2 which do not support the game or the community. Hackers are not reporting these bugs, users who give a shit about this game are helping report the bugs.

I actually have not lost anything, yes I died, but I made sure I died in a remote spot that was easy to find, so I got all my loot back. This is not a post about how hackers took my loot or whatever, almost every time I have died I found even better gear the next time... I'm not even whining about hackers, I'm saying that I can't accurately report bugs because I'm not certain what is and what is not caused because of hacking. If you are inside a hacked vehicle, for example, and said vehicle crashes into another object you will DIE immediately if you try to exit the vehicle. Also, if a hacker spawns a vehicle How can you tell the difference between a regular one and a hacker spawn??? I saw TWO boats next to one another near skull island, so which boat is spawned by a hacker? Both? Only one?

You are correct that hacking is a big issue and has brought up a huge spotlight, this is also a balancing issue. Maybe the game is too hard and people HAVE to cheat to balance it themselves. Whatever the case may be the point is clear, any ffurther testing is now pointless by the community, we know that hacking is a huge problem there is no need to continue with the alpha any longer.

Here is one example that caught me by surprise, I had no idea that hackers spawned goats. but it makes sense because they give the best food and blood. Now if you cook the meat from a hacked goat and eat it then switch servers, guess what, your hunger meter will blink birght red. So I tried eating another cooked piece of meat on the new server and I logged out on purpose to test if the cooked meat I had was indeed hacked, even though I COOKED it.... guess what, I log back into a new server and the hunger meter is again blinking like crazy! I'm out of food at this point and death follows shortly after I start shooting zombies to try and get a can of beans drop. I basically starve to death and die. So, is meat a now a server bug or was the meat I took hacked? I have no idea.

Where is the graveyard in Dayz? It's a zombie apocalypse game yet I can't find a single graveyard, there are only piles of dead unburied bodies.... but where is the iconic graveyard with hands popping out of the ground! How freaky would that be, you're walking along in a field and suddenly a flock of hands try to grab you and pull you under!

I would love to have a graveyard addition in the official version of DayZ. Plus atmospheric effects like fog and mist which we already have in the engine. Plus we already have the grave models from the churches, so it doesn't seem like it would require too much tweaking since all the elements are present in the engine already.... I still vote for hands reaching out of the ground to NAB you! oh look zombies, better go prone.... oh no I just got my face ripped off by a hand in the ground... The zombies in the ground are like landmines and invisible and you cannot see them, you have seconds to get away and if you are prone you are in greater danger since they can grab your face off!

I would like to see shopping carts introduced in dayz, Unlike vehicles, shopping carts have to be pushed or you can get inside one and have a friend push you around. Super fun and super useful. No gas required, allows for extra storage and can be used down hills..... weeeeeeee +1 shopping carts if you like this idea.

Guys just stop it already. Seriously you're not hurting any of us, I actually find it rather tedious when you turn players into chickens or put bunnies on their crotch or teleport kill everyone on the server. However while this doesn't hurt me it does hurt rocket. It hurts the whole immersion and survival game mechanics that he worked on to implement for you. Show a little respect to rocket and try just once to play the game the way it was intended. If you keep hacking it will only devalue the work that Rocket has placed into this mod and you're doing nothing to contribute to Dayz except diminish it's user base, if this is your goal, to kill dayz then you are doing a very good job. I will not be playing on any servers while hacking is part of the game mechanics, it's a waste of time and honestly I'm not amused. You have mis-used your intellect.

You're not seeing the bigger picture here! Place canister filled with fuel inside shopping cart, push cart down a hill finally take aim and light it on fire! You can either find out if anyone is sniping or you can use it as bait. Again multi purpose! NV goggles would be useless because the glare would mask if anyone is pushing the cart and it defeats and counters heat vision rifles.
