Rocket actually talked about having dismemberment for the zombies at least, don't know how likely it is to happen though. -
Direct communication is supposed to work if you use the latest beta, all others will be removed completely in the future, some servers still have the global chats active though. Did you type or use your mic to talk to them? Voice chat travels around 40m and text even less, it's possible they ignored you aswell.

Vehicle saving is very buggy, sometimes they come back on server restart and sometimes not, don't get too attached and enjoy them as much as possible when you can. -

Found one can of beens in a 5 hour session last night, luckily we found knives and matches so we're good now but i think he lowered the food spawns a bit too much. -
If you are using the same steam account it won't work, you need buy a copy each.

I guess it was a hacker attack, me and my 2 friends close by died, saw around 20 names killed in the chat. 1 friend survived though, he was a couple of kilometers away from us, so it might have been some sort of nuke or something.

I think the reason for all the military grade stuff in them is because it's the same model tower that's in the military bases and loot types are based on the building model and not location.

The Winchester isn't a shotgun so the pellets were never supposed to exist, he should probably rename the slugs to bullets or something aswell. -
This has ben discussed extensively in other threads, Rocket even tried a 5 sec timer in the 1.7.1 patch but something didn't work as intended and was removed in the newest 1.7.1.1 patch.

[attachment=1050] We we're running along the highway towards Polana and saw this on a big field close to Gorka, 2 crashed choppers 200m from each other! There were about 8 zombies per crash site, we killed everyone around one of the choppers but sadly we couldn't find any loot options and it wasn't enterable, the zombies we killed had good stuff on them though so we weren't unhappy. Sadly, 1min after killing the last zed a new batch spawned, this time double the amount! And 10 seconds after that another ~15 spawned so we suddenly had 30 of them, luckily only ten of them ran after us and was quickly dispatched. It would have been nice to check the other one out but we didn't dare with ammo quickly running low.

It's the first crashed heli's i've seen so I'm not sure how you're supposed to loot them but as I wrote we didn't see any options to enter any gear menu or anything.

MHolo something gun... SD ammo?

SD ammo in a non-supressed rifle usually shoots very high compared to normal rounds. Try it out in the editor to find out which guns work best with SD, some of them shoots almost 1m to high at only 50m. -

Possible solution for DC-ing ?

Read the sticky for the next patch (1.7.1), there's already a mechanic on the way to help with dc'ing. -
The Arma 2 engine is more taxing on the cpu than the gpu.

There's been massive lagg spikes and desyncing the last few days so it's not unlikely that's the cause. My group won't play at all until the next patch since last time we tried 2 of us got killed by teleporting zombies. -
There are some troubles with the mod now aswell, just not the extreme lagg spikes and desync. I get 120-200fps when i fly around on the empty chernarus map but in the mod with everything happening i'm rarely over 60 since the last few patches.

The most i've seen on Dayz servers is around 1500m and you wouldn't even gain a single fps from lowering it, the reason you're not able to go higher is to keep things balanced.

Which pistol do you prefer?

I've tested all the guns in Dayz extensively in the armoury and in a homemade shooting range and found that the revolver is best at long range, almost perfect accuracy up to about 150m, the 1911 starts going everywhere after 75m. Though sometimes you need more speed then power, in that case i'd go for the glock. -

It's an issue with the Arma engine though, he probably could toughen them up somewhat but the physics engine is rubbish so you're still likely to explode/crash/break the vehicle by hitting a tiny pebble somewhere. -

The Winchester and Enfield are good as "normal" guns, but as i said you could expand that niche of weapons with double barrelled shotgun, maybe an "over under" or what they're called with one shotgun barrel and one rifle. There's room for alot of different calibers aswell, not all guns need to use magnum ammo, .22's and similar competition calibers could be used. -

Agree. Would like to see alot more common weapons, regular double barrelled shotguns and hunting rifles instead of so much military grade stuff. Would be nice to do away with all the semi automatic sniper rifles which are almost exclusively used for player hunting, something like the CZ is overkill enough.
