I don't see why people are suggesting a logout timer longer than 30 seconds. 20-30 seconds is fine. I'm sorry but a longer time.. like a 7 minute timer (whoever suggested that?!) is pointless. You tie up the server for 7 minutes. What a waste of resources. You think people want to sit around waiting for 7 minutes so they don't lose all their shit? 7 minutes? 30 seconds is fine. If you can't find and kill your target in 30 seconds after they seek cover you were either lucky you hit them in the first place or firing at them from the next town over, in which case you likely weren't going to loot them yourself anyway. And if you have a mate to pick up the scraps, surely he can clean up what you started in 30 seconds. This is all assuming they freak out and go to log out the second you hit them (which they won't, because they're still in your line of fire) Firm grasp on the concept of time, please.

To the kids camping the Cherno center
Tigerhawk71 replied to Yeni's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cherno is the place i only go on a fresh spawn. Why bother risking it when you can find stuff in places that aren't Cherno with less of the risk? -

I just had to learn it the hard way
Tigerhawk71 replied to M'ntaal's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's a summary of my experience today: Survivin' it up with a mate, walking along (no we're not in cherno or elektro or by an airfield, we're inland) and while running near (but not on) a road, someone shoots at both of us. My friend gets KO'd with a broken leg, i get clipped, sprint through some bushes and across the road - loop around the bushes the shots came from, find the guy and give him a slug enema. He dies, i bandage myself up. we loot his shit, patch ourselves up and move on - one of us was below the random KO level, so we were hunting animals with the matches so generously provided by the asshole who shot at us. Another guy runs up with a zombie, shouting friendly. I shoot the zombie and he runs behind a bush shouting not to shoot him.. i lose a visual on him, so i don't shoot him and we move out quickly so he doesn't shoot at us. A minute later, i see him heading towards us/following us. He asks us to use a blood pack on him. I call him over, with us both looking at him... Transfused his head with my shotgun, took the blood pack, patched up my friend. His tears of rage on side chat were hilarious. Moved on to a town, hearing gunshots - we see a guy run into a barn, circle it.. i see him on the stairs, so i put a shot into his back. He didn't even know we were there, probably thinks the Zombie did it. We loot all his shit (guy was LOADED, had an Alice Pack too). We move out from there, and are being sniped from the hillside nearby by two people (different gunshot sounds, same direction, similar times) Take some damage but slip away. That's basically how this game plays. Of the people i've met i don't know in real life, only 2 of them haven't tried to kill me on sight because they wanted something. I shot one of them because he had something we needed. The other ones never saw me, but were armed and i'm not taking that chance. Put in whatever morality system you want. Short of killing people for killing too many other people, nothing about this will change. Ever. -

OH SHIT, SOMEBODY WHO PLAYS DAYZ UNDERSTANDS A SIMPLE CONCEPT! WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!? Seriously though, i can see why this game has so many problems with people just deathmatching and other dumb shit, when out of everyone so far only one guy i have seen has managed to grasp this concept properly - it's too dark under some conditions. Not many people like it - servers being almost entirely empty after dark is an indicator there is a design problem that you can't just ignore... like some people here are trying REALLY HARD to do. Allow me to provide an example: Open thread, skip to page 44, canned response of no value. Well done. You'll really help develop the game by responding to everything someone says with "man up".. -
It occurs to me that the phrases "post is a fantastic and valid point" and "you're a fucking idiot." are mutually exclusive. Perhaps the reason I 'spouted' tht phrase several times is that I find these people incredibly frustrating and hence I wanted to be quite damning. I am not "a fucking idiot" and your haste to label me as such suggests that conversely it is you who is the idiot and flaming. I don't know, i didn't think it was a difficult concept to grasp that the point of your post was fine but your wording makes you look like a complete tool. But clearly your pseudo-intellectual ways are far above my level of understanding. But i digress, this is the internet after all and you're just another tool in this shed.

Honestly it doesn't mater what system you put in, there's a core problem that remains. People will shoot anyone they see who is armed, as a preventative measure. If you don't, that's probably because the other guy shot you while you thought about it. The bandit system wasn't working for one reason - you went from thinking that armed people will probably try and kill you to KNOWING people would try and kill you, making the decision to pull the trigger even easier... Until you can actively address that problem, then no bar or scoring, skin or morality system is going to work. That said, your concept is interesting.

Kicking of Players for Clan members
Tigerhawk71 replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
If you kick people from a server so your gay lov- er, clanmates can join then you're not obeying the rules, are you? Oh no, i better not run into you in-game, i might become simply over-run by the sheer amount of indifference i feel towards your hollow attempts at insults and aggression. -
Note how i didn't state i have a connection problem (I don't.) And how i'm the only person who seems to not be just talking about myself and nobody else. For reference' date=' i'm on an fibre connection (You know, the big round cables that shoot light down them?) Probably faster than most people, always on, with equipment that isn't older than the internet itself. I specfically have no connection issues (except when the actual server itself dies, and given i run VOIP while playing it becomes quite obvious when the point of failure is not local) but that everyone throwing up random numbers of time waiting and locking you into servers is going to accomplish precisely nothing. There's simply more important things to do than try and add some arbitrary time delay. And adding a time delay won't just automagically solve everything in one go. Well i had a better suggestion than yours. What was yours again? You didn't post anything of actual value to the discussion just now, so it's hard to tell... wasnt even talking to you fucktard Sorry dude, reading this at work, wasn't really paying attention.

Honestly there's no fix for this that doesn't catch up anyone who has a connection problem (And given the shitty stability of some servers at the moment, that's kindof a big deal). Rockets current system of detecting people who are rapidly connection and disconnecting is fine for the most part. But people have lives (some of us) and there's a real world out there. If i happen to get spotted when i need to log out to go to work or do something important, i don't feel like i should be locked into *arbitrary time delay or other penalty* just so Doucheballs Mc BanditFace is also unable to avoid dying because he finally got what was coming to him. It may be something they can work in later (and if you can allow certain areas perhaps to be "safe zones" for instant logout if you INSIST on adding a time delay) then maybe it'll work. But right now there's too much instability and too many bugs to be focused on such a stupid little thing. Most of you death dodgers are losing all your shit due to tent/vehicle save bugs anyway.

My point is that if nobody is playing it except for "REAL MEN™" Like yourself, then it's clearly a problem that needs to be addressed. Your post has something in common with a blowdryer in DayZ - it's totally fucking irrelevant. -
