If you spent almost $2000 USD on a computer that wasn't absolutely amazing, you did it wrong or you live in a country where PC parts are blatantly overpriced. $600-$800 can build a very respectable gaming machine, anything over $1200 is quite high end, and over $1500 approaches God-tier and needless overkill. 4 grand for a PC is stupid, you're getting very ripped off there.

Potentially, although honestly I feel that if I were shot I'd spend more time desperately clutching at my new hole than applying a combat dressing. Not saying it's not possible, but chances are if you've been knocked down by a round then another one won't be far behind it, not to mention the difficulties in how the game handles this state. Either way, whether or not you're conscious won't really matter. I also forgot to mention in my last post, the infected likely aren't just open hand slapping you. It doesn't take a whole lot to cause an open wound that requires a bandage to prevent continued bleeding. Frenzied clawing from a being with zero sense of self preservation (beyond feeding) would probably be included in those things.

I feel like the whole getting knocked out by bullets thing is more to simulate you not being able to run around completely fine a la CoD/BF/Every shooter ever after being shot. It's possible to stay standing after being shot by smaller weaponry, but if you got hit by a larger weapon, you're gonna go down and you probably won't be doing a lot of moving, hence why you get knocked out.

Fixing The Player Hopping PK Problem
CardboardSword replied to Cdrive's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Server hopping is a massive problem, I'll give you that. I do not think that this is the best way to deal with it however. There are enough glitches with location spawning as is, let alone when you start randomizing locations. If you're playing target practice in the same spot long enough to get 10+ kills, you pretty much deserve to be killed (not saying you shouldn't do it, don't get me wrong). I think you'd rather get killed by someone cheating to get to you than by logging back in to your character to find him/her fused to a tree/rock/building/underground/godknowswhere, I know I would. If there's a way to make it work reliably, without spawning people in impossible or dangerous places, then I'd say go for it. Given the state of the game/mod though, I'm not sure about that being a realistic expectation. I think an inactivity period when you log back in after having recently switched servers would be a more elegant solution. That is, if you've recently switched servers (for legitimate reasons or otherwise), when you log into subsequent servers your character will not respond to inputs for say, 10 seconds. This shouldn't harm anyone playing "fairly" because I would think most people would log out in a location they know is relatively secure. If you're in an unsafe area and don't want to chance it, wait until your timer goes back down and you can join another server without penalty. If it's only 15 minutes or something it won't hurt anyone that gets disconnected at a bad time or something. And honestly, if you're STILL in the same spot then, I don't know what to tell you. -
Simple Solution to Loot Farming via Server Hopping
CardboardSword replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've had a very similar idea myself to cut back on such abuse, yours is just much more thought out. I'm behind the idea 100% (obviously), although I feel like the distance can probably be reduced a bit. The biggest problem (in my opinion anyway) is people magically appearing and disappearing in enclosed loot areas like the barracks. I'd go as low as 500m instead of 1500m, still a fair distance, but won't force anyone to run into the woods for a 10 minutes before leaving a server if they do need to leave and rejoin elsewhere for a legitimate reason. They can still easily come back and go get the loot that's nearby, but they'll have to get past Z's and any players in the area to do so. I do think that you should still be able to loot bodies though, regardless of their proximity to you when you spawn and whether or not it's a body by your hand. It would really suck to pop into a server, get into a firefight and not be able to take anything off the body. Players are both mobile and inconsistent in terms of reward anyway, so I see no reason this would be a problem.
