The pc i am building is it Good for arma
Nighthawk4 replied to ShadowGamer (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
(damn i'm flooding this thread. But oh well, i'm spreading the knowledge :P) Well, the AMD FX-series is a new platform. So it's horribly un-optimized. They may be enough for what you do, but you can get a lot more crunching power for the same price. Some reviewers put an AMD FX-8200 series against an i5 2500k and the i5 won every test, except the professional/rendering branch. The AMD FX-series is good for when you're running a server, but not much else, yet. it needs a few years of optimizations. -

he doesn't want to play on max. I still have an AMD 5850 from 2 years ago, I can still play everything either maxed or on high. a GTX460 should do. -

the Intel Core i5-2400 is just €10,- more expensive than the AMD CPU. And it will give you a lot more power! Believe me, it's worth spending the extra money. -

dont buy a bulldozer AMD CPU. it's shit at anything but number crunching. Get an Intel CPU. I5 2500k would be your best bet! Also, where is your Power Supply? You will need one to power your rig, and you shouldn't pick a cheap one. If you pick a cheap one it could fry your entire rig in a thunderstorm. If you get a Corsair PSU you will be fine. one of their CX units would be enough. And then you're all set :). -
give him some bloody slack man, come on. He probably just fought for hours trying to get it to work, finally is able to find a server that works and then this.If you've just come over here to bash a new player into the ground, go somewhere else where you can have fun by yourself. As for the newb; we can't do anything about it either. Never experienced it myself though.

How to find a good server
Nighthawk4 replied to erlien.unitrax@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
lol, "royally butt-loved". You're original :P. Anyway, I don't know of any servers that restart a lot... I know Sixupdater can filter the names of the servers, but that's about as much as I can think of. -
it should work like that yeah, lol. Maybe look in the settings?

I had this problem aswell. It turned out that I just didn't wait long enough. I usually have to wait for about 3 minutes max. Then I just exit. Try to find a server that doesn't have many people and a low ping. I usually play on servers with 7/40 people or so and around 30-50 ping. Also, do you use SixUpdater? that solved the installing part for me. Also, take a look at this: http://fireden.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Arma2-DayZ-guide.jpg.jpeg

Hatchet is overpowered but necessary
Nighthawk4 replied to SpeechMan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think he means that the game became too easy because of the hatchet, which is why he thinks it is OP. Granted, it's not the real definition of something OP, but i'm sure you can follow where he's going :). Anyway, on topic, I haven't played since 1.7.1, so i'm not sure how it works, but if what you're saying is correct, that would indeed make it somewhat 'overpowered'. That said, without the starting gun it is very difficult to change it because then the new people would be even weaker (hatchet wasn't rare right?). -
The one and only Anti-PVP/PvP Discussion thread! Whine/discuss here!
Nighthawk4 replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
TBH I liked the PvP. it's a post-apocalyptic world, everyone on it's own. it scares me when I hear gunshots, so usually I don't go to places where I might see other people. And please don't make other things like blood transfusions. I'm a lone-wolf for a reason. I don't want some random dude show up -who knows i'm low on blood- and i HAVE to trust him and hope he's not just here to shoot me. The blood transfusion is an essential thing, so that can stay, but I don't like having other mechanics like that. so, really, I think it's fine as it is. It adds to the experience in my opinion. when you're crawling through zombies (or at least, when you still could) and you hear gunshots, you can't move anywhere fast, so you freak out, which may cause you to make an error and die. all part of the palm-sweating fun :). EDIT: Also, This is the sort of realism I want. It should not be higher just for the sake of realism. I think Rocket has found a nice balance between realism and fun, though he may be screwing it up by removing side chat and the lot. -
I like lone-wolfing more. I'm friendly on the chat and help people out, but if I see someone I either walk away/hide, or shoot if necessary.

It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!
Nighthawk4 replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have once been on a server, where it was night and there was a moon. Was pretty fun. You could see, but a zombie in the shadows was pretty much impossible to see. That's what I expect. Now the other day (1.7.0 still) I went onto another server where it was night too, and there I couldn't tell the game had loaded, the "loading" text in the middle of the screen just vanished. How do you guys expect me to play with such lighting? -
Make EVERY weapon a lot harder to find.
Nighthawk4 replied to killertom3's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am a fairly new player, but I would stop playing if I would lose my trusty makarov. It's the only thing saving me if a zombie spots me (since a winchester makes too damn much noise >.<), and is also the only thing saving me from getting killed if I meet other players. I want something to defend myself with. Right now I like the degree of difficulty. The zombie AI could be better, which would make things a tad harder, but anything more than that and things would get really frustrating for players just starting off.
