Validating DayZ files in steam. Hopefully there is a fix in there somewhere. Died from a horde of zeds for the first time in SA. I call hax! :P

Found me a trident!

I like it man, you play at the same level of paranoia that I do. Its a healthy way to play DayZ.

I like the background! Whats the jacket called?

Good video man. Should'a taken one of your fallen foe's pants though. Your video also makes me glad I don't play with a large group :P

One thing I find about the scopes in general is the way you have to "find" the sights... especially if its somone elses gun and you're not used to the scope. Picture for example: the "blur" in that scope is what I'm talking about.

My bad. Dean had said somewhere that they were taking out heli wrecks from the SA. I'm pretty militant on the topic :P

Haven't been playing as much recently, but wanted to start the 2nd bunch since I've been sitting on these for awhile. Enjoy!

I have to disagree with the "no crashes" thing... One or two per server makes things pretty interesting. When you see that smoke in the distance its like a suprise visit to NWAF... you don't know if anyone has found it yet, but the smoke rises so high that if any other survivors/bandits in the area have found it too... With the military bases/police stations/fire stations you know where they are and the likelyhood of activity there, wrecks you don't know who is/was/will be there. Its just another random thing that raises the stakes.

As the title states- How many Standalone Players played the DayZ Mod, Arma II, Arma III and/or the Wasteland mods? I ask because I get the feeling many here and in game didn't play any of the above. Not that that's a bad thing, just curious.

you know you played to much DayZ when......

I don't know how many times my wife or kids have come in the room to talk to me and I hit my p2t button to reply to them. Its 2nd nature to hit a button when speaking. -

When you have trouble seeing something in the distance and want to hold down r-mouse to zoom... When you see someone out the corner of your eye and instinctivly want to pull your gun (even though you don't have one) -
Got bored and made a video. Just time crunched a sunrise. I put the real time audio back in place as well as added some of my stock music.

When my group run into players if we've got the upper hand we just hold them up, ask them if they need anything (help ect...) and then tell them to run in a direction. if they stop or look back they're dead. If they have the upper hand... depends on our mood and their attitude. When I'm alone I cuff em and question them (what do you need ect...) the cuffs are for my safety. If they have a weapon I'll take it, bag their head and then drop it on the ground nearby and run. Killing is too easy IMO. Getting through interactions without death on anyone's side is hard mode.

Not too shabby.

is this book in game? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Most_Dangerous_Game

With the exception that they took a client based system and reworked it to an authoritative based structure, rebuilt the central database (hive) that Arma isn't meant for, and rebuilt all the systems on top of that- Did I mention things that the Arma engine wasn't meant for? In a perfect world they should have switched engines completely, but that involves fiscal issues as well as staffing problems. They could buy a new engine license, but that would require not only the money (I'm sure thats not a problem anyways) but the time to train exsisting staff and then start modifiying said engine for they functinality they need out of it. OR they could stick with what they have (free) and know how to use (no retrain costs). Its not apologism as you say, but facts.

OP accidentally bought DayZ instead of ARMA III for Wasteland mod. Better save your allowance so you can buy the right game next time buddy.

Whats funny is many games spend 4+ years in development secretly (or at least quietly). DayZ has been in the public eye through its entire development. Yes it feels like its been forever, but it hasn't in dev terms. 2016 would be entirely acceptable to me if thats what it takes to do it right. Thats why they let us into development alpha.

Preface: I apologize in advance, I seriously have no clue where to post/ask this. Please move post accordingly if necessary. So a guy I work with really liked a few of my wallpapers (link in my sig!~shameless plug) and asked me if I knew how/where to get a poster of them... and I do know someone that works a print shop that can do full poster sized prints (movie ads for theatres). Would it be leagal for me to do this though? I'm not planning on selling them, just giving away, but what about printing things like this?

I don't see it as an issue either, was hoping a mod may have some advice. Also: Like your sig man :P Much beans :beans:

Its actually not that hard, just not sure how the engine for SA handles it. Its called procedural textures, basically just have two textures and make it transition from one to the other at a certain rate of time... typically in sync with whatever "snow precipitation" effect you have going on to make it look like snow is accumulating. The biggest problem I see right off the bat here is how many textures ARMA/DayZ use just for simple things. Using procedural textures it would be double what currently exists for ground/flora related things. Another would be the hive itself, would all servers transition seasons at the same rate or one by one? What if players switch to winter gear? What if admins start "locking" their servers to seasons kind of like how they lock servers to time of day now? Some sort of executive decision would need to be made on these things. But yes, in most situations its quite possible.

Hey, thanks for the replies guys. Not too long after posting these my internet went down and just came back up. I plan on doing more of my own, but if anyone has any screenshots they would like me to make wallpapers into in their own resolutions just post a link and I'll work on em.

I find this interesting. Need more RP/Backstory type stuff in this game to pass the alpha time away. Where's the resident "graphic novel fan fiction dude" when you need him?
