What Do You Consider To Be "Exploiting" In This Game?
airfell replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
The questions in the poll are why I like single private-hive servers. No multi-dimensonal transporting wizards. -

I think it would take specific item ID's- not just by type, but for each one. I'm sure they can tell how many of something exist, but not a spcific one. That would take a lot more database work, although it would cut down on hacks if it was reviewed.

I think he's refering to an individual item changing hands- Dude finds mosin, loves it, takes care of it... bandit kills him, bandit loves it, takes care of it, bandit hunter kills him...

So I met a guy working on a school project. Figured I'd help out. Now I hope he gets an F.

Sympathy beans man. -
It should be the same. I run steam on my laptop and my PC typically at the same time while my wife plays one game I play another- as long as we don't both play the same game at the same time. You can assign multiple devices to steam with a family share type thing.

Man, I gotta say I really liked this video- Yes it was a PvP vid, but it wasn't sheer "look at how badass my crew and I are" or "ha ha lulz" stuff. It was just some legitimate stuff with a good soundtrack. If you'd be willing to take some constructive critisism PM me. TBH I'd love to watch some more videos like that, possibly playing Daryl style- xbow and brass knuckles, saving your friends, ect...

The Mysterious Case of HOLYSHITTHATSALOTTAGUNS
airfell replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I've read a few posts about the tower being like this. I'm assuming it's a failed holdout? -
The ol' Dinner Bell... IMO swarms of zombies will change the game for the better. When people play the game specifically just for wholesale PvP, its not hard enough yet.
-
IMO part of the game is starting on the coast. The coast is high-risk, so you work your way inland, then a buddy dies or something and you have to go back to the high-risk coast to retrieve them, while carrying any of their loot they need- raising the stakes. Wash rinse repeat.

The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA
airfell replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
Thats totally fine by me. Luckily we would never know how many people are on that server anyways, so any interaction with someone else would be completely and absolutely unexpected, with much much higher stakes. As for the hacker situation, it could happen, but tbh I've only seen two hackers in DayZ SA anyways- and both where the one night I decided to give a full non-hardcore server a go. -
tents work similar to your backpack- when the server restarts it attempts to move everything up and to the left in what seems to be a random order. When it does that it tends to sometimes remove stuff that doesn't fit right in this new order, and stuff doesn't show up at all until you drop something in the bottom right corner. I could be mistaken but I think what the server does is just save the tents location and the items in it, then when the server restarts it wants to dump all the items it saved in a list in it, but in no particular order, and this makes conflicts due to the item placement system part of the GUI.

The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA
airfell replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
lol, I've talked to lots of people like the idea of a death=temporary ban system. I think a week or two is best. Obviously you won't be plaing on a server like that, and thats fine. -
Worth making a private server with whitelist?
airfell replied to suggett's topic in General Discussion
I got ya. Still a lot of variables there though- in that situation it really depends on how well you admin the server as well as the server settings. I think if you guys announced it in the forums and did a good job of keeping up the whitelist requests so there are people in it it should do fine. I guess a part I didn't think about is what you guys want out of it. Are you wanting a full PvP server, a medium population server for regular play- get some loot, possibly meet people, chance of pvp, or a quiet PvE server? -
Worth making a private server with whitelist?
airfell replied to suggett's topic in General Discussion
IMO it just depends on if you want to spend the money, and how aggressive you want to be with your whitelist. If you whitelist anyone yes, you probably will get hackers, but if you're too aggressive with the whitelist you won't have anyone to play with. Its all about the approval process you're willing to undertake. To add a personal anicdote: During the MOD my little group of survivors (4 of us at the time including myself) got into a whitelist server that was co-hosted by two BIG clans. The two clans used it as a post apoc milsim competition between the two groups, while my group was the guerilla factor. It was honestly the most fun I've ever had in DayZ for an extended period of time. -
The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA
airfell replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
Whenever-if ever- they supply us with server files I plan on hosting a server with a day-night cycle that runs at a sped up pace(4 hour resets, the server moves forward 3 hours every restart), modified loot tables to reduce high-end loot, and a death ban system(we're thinking a week or two). And of course 1st person only. The hard part will be trying to find a way to remove current player reporting so you're blind as to how many people you're playing with. but my buddies and I like the game hard, I'm sure not many do, but its their loss. -
To hell with vehicles, when will we see small hordes of the infected?
airfell replied to danceswithzeds's topic in General Discussion
For us it was the shooting range military base in Tavi. We'd have a couple guys go in guns blazing while a couple others grabbed loot. Good times. -

airfell replied to danceswithzeds's topic in General Discussion
Yep, hordes are what made the game(mod) fun to me, although my group typically avoids other players. Sometimes you've gotta make a choice between shooting through the zombies yet making your whereabouts known, or sneaking around a town. -
sounds like there could be lots of variables- your config files may be corrupt, game files could be corrupt, could be bad settings, or hardware issues. Try to verify files in steam and make sure your drivers are up to date. I had left for about 6 months but came back a couple weeks ago and I've had the opposite happen. I used to get a good 20fps, now I'm running 40-60.

one month ban all players upon death. Its the only way. You guys are pussies if you disagree with this hardcore-ness of dayz.

I know its not full on film studio quality, but for never doing anything like this before, I think it turned out pretty good. Enjoy!
-
I've been working on this project for awhile, the finished video should be ready soon, but for now I've got a trailer ready. Note: I've never done anything like this before, but had some good friends and a few professional contacts at my disposal. ENJOY!

Got bored. Made Rock Paper Scissors in python. Since you can't attach .py files, I changed the extention to .txt - if you download it you should change it to run(provided you have python installed.) RPC.txt
