    Looking for 'Legit' Bandit Crew

I can DL it. Haven't used it much but I know how to set up the PTT key so... ;P Just died a bit ago as well. Planning my first trip to the NWAF tonight or tomorrow solo to see how it goes.

    Looking for 'Legit' Bandit Crew

Dr621, I think I may have mislead you. You sound very honorable and seem to want to just PvP. I want to hunt other players, allow them to loot a town, let's say, and then kill them after they're out of town range. Then proceed to loot them. The tracking is what is most interesting to me. If I can continually track you after you've done a town run, I feel like I've earned your loot, hehe. I'm not concerned with if they have a weapon or not. I am not concerned if they are new or not, though I'd not just camp the noob areas as that is a lack of challenge right there.

TOTAL WIPE - Yes or No ONLY

I'd be fine with a full wipe once a week. I mean, first off, it's Alpha. Secondly, skill would be required. Imagine if every Sunday everything was wiped. The coasts would be full of players on Monday trying to get gear. Maybe some would team up, maybe some would try to be the first to get a gun and shoot everyone without a gun. That's the kind of crazy interactions I would enjoy. Pretty sure that would never happen though.
  4. I'm fairly sure this game is about the loss of rules. There is no government, no law... That is certainly what attracted me to it. I had no idea what ot expect, but I came in and got sniped several times over the course of a week. I'm sure I will be sad to lose the only matches I've managed to find so far, but really, that's the beauty of it. You either put value in items or you don't. You either accept potential consequences or you don't. And if you do not, with all due respect, I doubt this will be the last thread you write in this manner.

Going far up north, whats the point?

Black Lake is nice. I check for the vehicle spawns there from time to time. Nothing yet. I'm going to get bored enough to check out NW Airstrip one of these days though.
  6. I hope he finds a way that doesn't punish players that legitamately disconnect and try to get back in. I understand this is a problem though. This kind of abuse is unacceptable. :( Something like after disconnecting from a server, you can't return to that exact server for like half an hour or an hour. That way someone who disconnects because of server or internet issues can just go to another server and if they had friends playing with them, those friends can move to the other server as well.

Going far up north, whats the point?

I think he's talking probability. There's a place up North I go a lot for reasons I won't say. Call me paranoid, but there is a certain logic to that area that involves survival and protection. Also, a lot less shooters in the area as well. This game has a lot of hidden gems around. I've only been playing a week or so and I've found a few. Just don't expect to keep them secret for long lol

    Zombies = superman

In the debug box I'm seeing a visibility stat. Has it always been there? I'm assuming the number is how many meters away you'll be seen. It seems to calculate in being in the shade and being surrounded by walls. In a house, prone, I'm 1.5 while outside it's 12 (10.5 in the shade). I think this is a great system. It blends challenge with a requirement of common sense:
  10. You know, I've been playing it since the update and I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but zombies aren't any more of an issue that they have been, except the long distance visibility thing. But that happened occasionally before to me (I assumed ti was a glitch) and zombies are not seeing me through walls or anything. Maybe you could explain what has changed for you so I can understand.

    Zombies are OP ATM

I always thought it was strange they couldn't hit me as they chased me, though if they're able to see through walls and see prone from 75 meters, it seems the game will be about dodging glitches over dodging zombies. I'll have to see for myself, though. I still can't get into any servers. I look forward to trying to find a way to avoid death in a more difficult manner. I'm hoping it's less impossible than some are making it out to be.
  12. troll or...? Maybe I don't understand the question.
  13. Not sure if anyone mentioned this, because I don't have the time to read all the responses, but you can run to the extremely steep section of some mountains that make both you and the zombie walk. The zombie just walks much, much slower and you lose him (90% of the time)

Why the core userbase of this forum sucks.

So, being a new player with no blind insidious love for anyone that understands that alphas are this way and are okay with it that want to show support for Rocket (Who I assume isn't making any money off this, though even if he was it matters little) are wrong? I'm sorry, if people love rocket for providing something they enjoy, I feel it's best to allow them to be as happy with it as you are not. The cup can be half full.
  15. Personally, I love the choice we have. Everyone will view what is better for them. You start hunting players, you're putting yourself at risk. You don't know if they have friends around. You don't know if you're spending ammo on a guy with just a hatchet, a bandage and a flashlight or if he's hiding blood packs and morphine. On the flip side, co op with others has that safety to it, but also it can slow you down quite a bit. You have to take the wants and needs of the party into account. If someone breaks their leg, do you leave them? Do you do a run for them or bring them with you to the Hospital? These are all relative to the player. Everyone will want something different out of Day Z, and leaving that choice up to the player is what makes this game for me. One day I might want to become a bandit. Until then, I have my friends I play with.

    Starter Weapon

I only just started a few days ago, so I never started with a weapon, so my opinion might not matter as much, but I'm glad we don't start with a weapon. The game is intense right now. Starting with a gun, imo, would cheapen it all. I would probably feel a bit less excited about finding weapons.

    Dear Rocket..

Gonna try the no insult to anyone approach: Godspeed on getting the patch fixed, Rocket :)
  18. Buddy of mine kept shining the light in our faces after I showed him how to equip and use it. I told him multiple times to stop. Didn't stop. 5 shots to the chest. "DID YOU JUST DO THAT?"

    First impression: This sucks.

It was a bit boring for me the first day as well. I had to be de-programmed from the crap I had been playing for a while. This game is like taking off the training wheels of a bike that has a couple loose bolts. It's an alpha so there are issues, I've died from glitches plenty of times, but it's worth it to push forward. After my friends joined me it became a thousand times better. Once, in a barn, I misjudged the edge, fell off and broke my leg. My old mentality was like "Take all my stuff, I'll just respawn" but I suggested something we hadn't done before; Hospital run. We all crawled all the way to Chernogorsk, dodging zombies while only crawling. We made it, though one of us was trying to look down the edge of the building and fell off, dying. We looted his corpse, finished the hospital looting and made it out without alerting a single zombie. All without weapons on any of us. Crawling through a zombie infested city relying on the sounds and what little sight you have with so many buildings, knowing that you can't run away if you get caught is exhilarating. Getting sniped right when you get out, not so much. But it didn't matter. We had a great adventure and we're still playing. My point is, you have to deprogram your brain for this game. And having allies makes it much more interesting.
  20. *Raises hand* I enjoy that which is hardcore... to a point. This game isn't ridiculous, but instead just the right amount of hardcore for me.
  21. I do not think I will ever have a greater Day Z moment than watching in amazement as a bus rolls up, a man in a ghillie suit jumps out and begins firing at me. I dodged you for a few seconds but after I went around that fence you took my legs out with ease. Enjoy the water bottle, sodas and ammo I had. GG ;P

To the Bus Driver in a Ghillie Suit

Yeah, not butthurt. I thought it was awesome. First vehicle I see moving and what would pop out but a man in a ghillie suit! My first instinct was to walk up and use direct chat to tell him I think his bus is b*tchin, but then I remembered the golden rule; Run from players. Good times.

My First Day in the Z

So, I've been watching videos of this mod for a while now, but no one I knew wanted to play at the time, so I decided not to buy the game and get the mod. Yesterday, though, an old friend came back to our vent community and mentioned it and next thing you know, a few of us are DLing it. The others won't be able to play until later today or tomorrow, but I decided to begin solo to get a feel for it. At first, I thought "How impossible is this game?" I came across a small town with many zeds, as you call them. With no weapons or any means of survival, really, I decided to try running into open homes to find equipment. This did not work out well for me. I soon realized there was no means of melee fighting (punch, kick) and when a zed got stuck in a doorway, you're pretty much done. Having accepted this, I allowed myself to be slain and started again. This time, I decided to crawl into town, which worked fine until a hopper was right around a corner lol. I jumped up and ran, realizing I could run as fast as the zeds. I ran until I didn't hear any more noises and then went prone. I had lost them! Deciding that town was lost, I went north and came across a barn. In the lower area I found a winchester rifle and some ammo for a 45. Well, no more crawling for me! These zombies were GOING DOWN! I killed the zombies at the barn and saw that my thirst was changing color. I had to find water. Continuing North some more, I came across a large town-like area and a small pool of water! I WAS SAVED! But then I couldn't drink from it so I started flashing, I couldn't aim the rifle any more. I felt like a child who'd had his toy taken away and been banished into the scary woods. I love this game. I've died two or three times and I'm gonna die a bunch more. Haven't had any player interaction yet, but I look forward to it. I read about how most players shoot first and ask questions later and we'll just have to see who's a better shot if that's the case. But with my upcoming pack of friends strafing me, well, we'll see how things go. :)
