Day Z is too Unrealistic. Fix or I Leave!
kayakinack replied to usszim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow sarcasm isn't the easiest thing to detect on the internet but seriously? It is rather scary some people thought this was a serious post. To the guy whining about how fast he needs food/water, first of all if you were running around doing all the stuff this person does you would need to eat a lot more than every few days, you would be burning ridiculous amounts of calories. Second, it's a game, the point is to have you making tough decisions and have tense moments, if you only need to eat every few days that kind of ruins the tense nature of the game. -
Nope you can't play the FREE mod DayZ without PAYING for Arma 2, therefore you paid for Arma 2, NOT DayZ, you spent the money with the intention of playing DayZ but that doesn't change the fact that you didn't pay for DayZ no matter how many insults you throw my way. Have a good day kiddo.
-
"who ever pays 30 bucks for arma 2 is a fucking retard" - well there are a lot of retards around here, including yourself kind sir... when did I say Rocket was doing you a favor? I said you need to take your entitlement attitude and shove it. I could care less who is happy about a bug being fixed, I find it just plain disrespectful for you to even type the words that Rocket and his team SHOULD be doing something, respect your elders kiddo Rocket should be doing whatever the hell he wants to do.
-
You are lucky Rocket is taking the time to fix it now. If I were him people like you speaking on what I should be doing would make me postpone it just in spite of you and others like you. You didn't pay a penny for DayZ, you paid for ARMA 2. Secondly, the game does not qualify as unplayable because there are a few areas you can't go to without some issues. Artifacting on barbed wire has been around for weeks, but it was always a rather rare occurrence (at least for me) until the latest patch that caused the new problems. Lose the entitlement attitude, no one on this planet owes you a damn thing.

You don't need to buy anything to learn about this game, its all in your face. There are wikis and thousands upon thousands of posts on these forums. As you get older (I'm assuming you're young due to your general attitude and the way you "carry" yourself) you'll learn that most questions can be answered with out raising your hand, so to speak. Read, listen, search, and then do it again. Patience is a virtue that you desperately need to learn. And if you are ever able to buy ARMA so that you can play DayZ you'll quickly learn that your impatience will not only get you called stupid on the forums but will also get you killed (and quite often) in game. Please to all others reading this thread (if you get this far) stop posting on here, you are wasting your energy.
-
Actually reading some of the forums and paying attention to the community you are a part of, or want to be, would go a long way in keeping people from calling you stupid. There have been innumerable posts about this exact same topic and numerous interviews with rocket (hopefully you know who that is). The guy meant to call you ignorant I think, because it appears you are rather ignorant of DayZ, its community, and its obvious future.

I'm definitely interested in joining Elysium, I have a friend that would most likely be interested as well. We've been gaming together for several years in a rather serious fashion, and can fulfill multiple roles in the group. We are both good at being serious when needed. my steam: bigackusmc or it may be Ack not sure which one will allow you to contact me. My TS name is BiGAcK

What is it with vehicle's
kayakinack replied to jamestrendall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Seriously no one has said a word about this sentence? Anti Astronaut Sniper? Wow. and 200km? That's quite an exaggeration makes me think you exaggerate about the rest of your post as well, you know searching the entire map for a vehicle.... Like the other guy said, find camps, I've found 5-6 vehicles sitting in people's camps. Never did understand putting all the eggs in one basket so to speak, but hey their lose is my gain. No easier way to gear up than finding player camps. -
A Final Solution to the Bandit Problem
kayakinack replied to EggMcSexy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Having a solution requires a problem to be solved, I think most would agree there is no "Bandit Problem" It's part of the game, if you think for one second it isn't realistic then you are horribly mistaken. Live in a post-natural disaster area for a bit and you'll see what I mean. The obvious Hurricane Katrina area has become cliche but an effective illustration of what real humanity does in a situation like that. Imagine if the world had virtually ended as we know it. You know like with a Zombie Apocalypse.. You wouldn't have snipers sitting in bushes, I don't think, but bandits you would definitely have, and shoot on sight isn't unimaginable. There are places in the world that certain groups have an actual shoot on site order and they follow it. That is every day life not post-apocalyptic. Anyone thinking otherwise needs to pull their head from the clouds, you need to see the real world because a bandit just may have you in his sights right now. -
Should the Stinger Missile be added to counter the helicopters?
kayakinack replied to Snakeyes1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Helicopters isn't exactly a recent addition, they were in the game since the mod began (I think) and were just recently removed for some issues I'm not sure about since I wasn't playing at the time. -

Is there a silenced weapon that can 1 shot kill?
kayakinack replied to pwnage13371's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are several silenced weapons, M4A3 CCO SD (I think it's called), M9 SD, and MP5 SD. and also the above posts are other possiblities. Also how do you know he was shot in the foot? -
The main thing that has gotten me killed in my lack of patience. Instead of carefully scanning a city/town/tree line I just do a half-ass job and dash in, usually to my demise. And when running around I don't like the crouch run, it's slower than the stand up run, damn it, I need more patience... And checking a body right after you kill a player, EVEN if there are only 3-4 people on the server, they still may have a friend with them. Patience..or the lack thereof is the only thing that has gotten me killed after the first few noob deaths.

I've always liked the idea of a game that required you to load magazines instead of finding magazines full, or just boxes of ammo that magically turn into magazines. I love the game keeps track of magazine counts, soon to be fixed to perfection (hopefully). If you find a magazine from a gun I've been firing, I was in a hairy situation and that magazine is completely empty and may even be broken due to the fall from the height I'm firing my weapon or the material it fell on. Also I'm fine with the amount of ammo in this game, but I think the limiting factor should be the number of magazines you carry. An ammo box of the pistol cartridges typically come in 50 round boxes (20-25 if they are JHPs) any self-respecting survivalist will have thousands of rounds of ammo on hand, any self-respecting Marine/Soldier will have as much as they can carry, and any self-respecting police officer will have at least 3-4 magazines. Ammo IMO shouldn't be that scarce of a thing, it's the magazines that are the issue. They are what limit real world why shouldn't they limit game world? I know many survivalists with THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo, and they are not in magazines. You need enough to get you through a firefight/as much as you can effectively carry and the rest of the ammo is held in a more compact package for future use.

What to do when you've got all the gear besides killing people like an asshole
kayakinack replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know, the other day a friend of mine and I were in Cherno searching for a few guillie suits and him being the thrill seeker he is decided to head towards someone firing off a .50 cal like they were sitting in the middle of a zombie horde. So reluctantly I back him up. We go investigate and when we finish we've killed 3 people and found me a new M4 SD and my heart was pumping like I've never felt before from a game. In DayZ I've probably killed under 10 people, and most were spur of the moment kill on sight because I learned my lesson the hard way. This fight was different. I've played more FPS than the OP has probably ever heard of, started with Wolfenstein 3D back when it came out. NEVER, has a game given me the rush this one has doing basically the same thing you do in all FPS, try to outwit and outshoot your opponent(s). I can't say I'm a huge fan of people sitting in Cherno sniping people that have just spawned, BUT, would Cherno/Electro be intimidating if it wasn't for those people? Currently running around gun-ho is not even remotely dangerous if zombies are the only thing you need to worry about. Run around, go in a building, kill 1-3 zombies at the door, loot, leave and find new building and repeat the process. If zombies are made to run indoors this will obviously be a completely different ball game, but currently that isn't the case. Killing someone in this game doesn't mean you are an asshole. Asshole of course being completely subjective. You apparently believe anyone that shoots another player is an asshole, I on the other hand have a different opinion. Killing brand new spawns, IMO asshole, killing someone that has helped you ESPECIALLY by giving you a weapon, IMO asshole, using hacks to kill someone, IMO asshole. Other than that I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I qualify as being an asshole move. BUT one of these days you'll learn (I imagine you aren't up there in the age department) that the world is full of assholes, take time to defend you and yours and don't try and spread your carebear attitude, it doesn't go over well in most circles. Except maybe a Green Peace rally, lol. Quit attempting to impose your will on the whole of this game, people will decide for themselves what they want to do in this game once they've gotten "end-game gear" They don't need to read forum posts to do it. I decided after that firefight in Cherno that I'm joining a clan that will allow me to indulge the adrenaline rush that is a firefight in this game. Not a single post on this forum (cept maybe a few youtube videos) peaked my interest to this method of play enough to get me to search out a fight (thus my friend had to virtually force me into hunting the sniper down). There are a group of people that run around helping people on this forum, find them and help them. Don't try and convince the rest of the 100k + players to do what you want them to do because you don't like them being "assholes." Kill the assholes if you must, that'll help the non-assholes, right? Or does that then make you an asshole? hmmmm paradox you say? -
Respawn wasn't removed to keep people from leaving when being attacked. Using it basically commits suicide and you respawn at the coast. One of the best things to me is navigating, pull up a internet map on another comp/monitor or just minimize and find where you are with land formations, trees and roads. And I hope they don't do the spawn point choice, everyone is well aware where everyone wants to spawn. Cherno, Electro, Sol, or Balota. No need for any other spawn locations.
-
You do it from outside a city, OR you fire, kill the person, and then get on the move to lose the zombies you just aggroed.
-
This is the problem with the world these days. People are too lazy to do work themselves, they think everyone owes them something. I play a game to get away from socialist idiots such as yourself OP go back to your Occupy Somewhere rally.
-
Whatever you want to do. There is no set course of action. You can sit in the north woods for a year with just a hatchet if you want. If you want "good" loot I assume you mean military grade weapons then be prepared to go into dangerous areas. Stary Sobor and the airfields are all hotspots for people that will kill you on sight. NW airfield is the probably the most dangerous location to be (player wise that is).

Need a Requirement to Warn When Server Will Restart
kayakinack posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Unannounced server restarts are constantly screwing with my inventory. I don't mind losing a few beans even some ammo, so far 3 different server restarts on 3 different servers in the past few weeks have made an M107 disappear, an AS50 disappear and all parts for repairing a vehicle disappear. If a server restart will jumble people's inventory then it needs to at least be announced a few minutes ahead so people can log out. Maybe I'm an idiot but if a person can restart their server can't they type a quick message that says hey restarting in 5 min. A lot of servers have designated times they restart according to their MOTDs, some say restart every # hours, which isn't helpful without knowing when the last time was (which so far none that I have seen this message on have given a last time restarted message) -
Need a Requirement to Warn When Server Will Restart
kayakinack replied to kayakinack's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Scheduled restarts are fine as long as they are accurately announced and timed. It could be, but damn that bad timing is really cramping my style.. now I have to hunt for some more camps to find me a new sniper. Yep, and some don't. My issue is with the ones that don't. -
Cosmetic Purchases = damn near F2P style of unbalancing. Oh you get a better camo b/c you paid for it... Purchase it like any other game. I bought ARMA 2 just to play DayZ in the alpha, so guess what, I'd pay for DayZ instead! I don't care who develops it as long as rocket's vision is what is being made. I've played many games that were awesome and then listening to the carebears became horrible. IF Rocket gets the say so on what happens studio all the way. I'd actually prefer this to be the WoW server style though, but it would need to be an MMO. I don't know if that is even possible using an the arma engine but it would be awesome, no more d/c if you have no where to d/c to except a new character on a different server cluster.

The friendly guy and the helicopter
kayakinack replied to iaxx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow, thats just dirty. I'm not a bandit hater or anything but I just can't get over how screwed up that was. I guess the moral of the story is as always trust no one. -
If you went swimming (which I'm guessing you did) you will lose everything in your inventory. Stay out of the water!
