One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
butter_milch replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should the gameplay really be this casual in the SA I'm not interested. -
They may be a shitty bunch but making them responsible for high game prices is ridiculous. Most games are expensive and are continuing to become even more so because publishers and devs can be a greedy bunch and people are stupid enough to pay that kind of money. And anti-cheat systems need to be in place no matter what. @Topic: Your friend could have disabled BE and should have known the risk.

Looking for active, private, veteran Dayz european Server
butter_milch replied to VidKo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Me and my friends have been exclusively playing on BMRF DayZ #2 (74.91.123.48:2303) for the last few weeks and it's probably the most fun we've had in months. It's an American server but the ping is still acceptable and doesn't pose a disadvantage. It's a veteran server with standard loot tables and a customized map. Lopatino for instance now has a hospital, Kamenka possesses a fire station and a supermarket and so on. This really spiced things up since Chernarus had become a little boring after all the time we played on it. I can really recommend giving this server a try :) -
DayZ Developer Blog 8th March

That motion blur is giving me a fucking headache. -
Help yourself and turn on your brain...

Only idiots and people who commute a lot buy laptops for playing games. The basic specs beast101 posted will run ArmA 2 just fine (AMD graphics cards actually perform better than Nvidia cards in ArmA 2). In the end it all depends on how much you want to spend and if you're willing to build a custom PC (which is always the better choice).

Of course you can disconnect when you're in combat - it's just not that easy anymore.

Allow Ghillie suit to offer reduced detection from Zeds
butter_milch replied to malau's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket prefers them being called infected. Other than that there's no difference ^^ Seeing as there's only an eye and an ear indicator zombies only use those two things to sense players. Of course smell could factor into that at some point but not atm.. -
Allow Ghillie suit to offer reduced detection from Zeds
butter_milch replied to malau's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These are infected, not zombies. And at the moment they see and hear, they don't smell. So a ghillie should give you an advantage. -
GTX 460 > GT 640. I don't think people get how bad this card actually is.
-
While your While your processor isn't as good your graphics card is a lot better and you're running the game on a SSD which does help in ArmA 2.
-
Shitty OEM specs. Go get a real PC if you want to run ArmA 2 on very high. This is kids stuff.

A celebratory release of new infos on the standalone is in order!

5-10 fps, high end computer, please help
butter_milch replied to Ranger01 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It really depends on how good you are at getting the most out of your money. I can build a high end PC with 1000€ and since most prices are converted 1:1 $1000 shouldn't be a problem ;) So what are your specs Ranger? -
5-10 fps, high end computer, please help
butter_milch replied to Ranger01 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A thousand bucks will get you anything from a crappy setup (if you buy a complete system) to a good one (if you build it yourself). So it really isn't enough for us to go on...
