  1. Actively staying in an organization that requires you to signup (and pay) for membership, means you accept that everything any member does, as something you agree with. If they do it, YOU are also responsible. The only exception, is when it's publicly denounced via some press release or something alike. Since you have, from what you're saying, no leadership, well... For example, if someone pays membership to a news organization that is known to allow some of their reporters to use very illegal and nasty ways of investigation, with lies, slander, spying and whatnot, he actively supports them and is therefore responsible for their behavior from the moment he knows about it to the moment he stops being a member. Exact same thing applies here. On top of that, SA is well known for it's...let's say "behavior" over the years and apart from members of the Goons, I have yet to read, see or hear anything from them that is not overall detrimental and destructive to others in games. That reputation (true or false at the start) might however have been luring players with specific behaviors into it, making it truer than ever now. I'm not judging, but coming here and saying that the Goons and SA is all nice and fluffy is bullshit in a can. :)

    backpack space disappeared

Confirmed, that happened to me as well. That said, it apparently only happened on my character that was alive BEFORE the patch. Once that character died (after patch), my new character didn't have any problem so far with that.
  3. Just adding my voice here. Can't seem to place a tent anywhere either. I also tried on the spot where my old tent was, no luck. The new fireplace everywhere thing might have fucked things up a bit, not sure. Ah well, hopefully I won't die while it's still in my pack.

    Leaderboards? ...

^^+1^^ Leaderboards promote personal e-peen and anti social behaviors.Same for personal stats. So glad we can't see humanity score anymore while at it.
  5. I think he's still in this mindset, which is perfect for me.

    Performance Drop; 1.5.8.2 Hotfix

Another report, might be duplicate: Had a character alive for about week now, played yesterday and today just fine, perfect FPS as usual. I died, respawned: down to 10-15FPS no matter the graphic settings. Logged out completely, exit the game. Log back in, new server, it's fine again, perfect FPS.
  7. Doesn't logging off do a hardsave all the time now? Yep:
  8. 2 hours playthrough: - Run all the frikkin time, cross country!! This is insanely tiring. - Crouch run everywhere in urban areas (that shit is TIRING!! I mean, try it, you won't last long.) - Ultra adrenalin rush with zombies all around and bandits possibly hiding at every corner. Adrenalin I think I'd grab myself a good snack and keep hydrated in these situations. I mean, I down a minimum of 3l of water when I don't do shit in term of physical activities. When I'm trekking, I down way more than that and I eat some fast acting dried fruits every hour or so. Sure, "can of beans" doesn't ring too good, nor does a cow steak, but it's the idea that counts. Plus, an hour of jogging burns about 500 to 600 calories I believe, which is what a can of beans represent, more or less. Plus you're pushing it. You only need to eat/drink when it's full red/flashing, not as soon as it's not green. And it takes more than 30mins for that to start flashing.
  9. Xbow forever. Tried it, trained on it, will never let go of it.

    Instead of player killing, mugging?

When I play, I play to survive as long as possible, total immersion. So for me: - Get mugged: lose gear, possibly keep life, it's a 50/50. If more than one, I'll choose that any day over dying. I've already been bugged out of my basic pistol and pack a couple times, never had a trouble gearing up again. - Die: lose gear, lose life (obviously), it's a loss. - Shoot the mugger: If it's one guy, maybe, on a good day. If it's two or more guys, too big risk. If you don't care about surviving, then just, shoot whoever. I'm totally opposed to the OP suggestion however. It IS possible already to get mugged but nobody's doing it because the risk is too great. An option to tie someones hands (with some kind of "do you accept" feature), that would last for about 5 minutes for example, would alleviate the risk for the mugger and stabilize a situation, giving less reason to shoot.

    Day/Night System Argument

I don't know man. I mean I play a couple hours a day all in all, split between a bit in the morning, bit noon and rest evening. I play almost always on the same server, which has my tent, and it's just one hour ahead of me time wise. I quite like the day/night cycle as it is. In the morning I can do a quick scavenge run with the sun just on the horizon, at noon, likewise, and then in the evening, it starts with the sun settings down and as I play, shit gets worse, which is great. I usually end my playtime around midnight top, and by then I'm just completely drained because of the stress level of playing at night, and I'm ready for bed :) All in all, I think it works just fine. Flashlight, flares, chemlights, they're tools prefect for night time. Make sure you had HDR turned on, or the moonlight will not reflect properly sometimes, but also make sure you don't go past 1.1 gamma, because you'll just ruin the experience. As a note, I'm in France but I can play in russia or the us with a 90-120ms ping, so if I really want to play daytime, I can without a problem.
  12. Definitely need some tweaking but the idea's there, that's what counts. Also suggestions & comments after playing some more: - Hypothermia and Infection systems should be completely separate. Of course both can get you killed, but you don't fight cold by gulping antibiotics, you fight it by getting warm, eating, etc. - Food should, due to calorie intake, gives you a non-stacking buff, lasting about 1hour or so, maybe reduced with stamina consumption. The buff should provide something like a 1 tempval per 30 seconds or something. - Wood needs to go, it's just not realistic in this setting. Good idea, but it's just not gonna work I believe. Replace with an ammo system for matchboxes, like 10-20 uses per box or something. You'll have the same effect overall, but not that "wtf, no wood in the middle of the forest" factor. Hatchet wouldn't fix it either, it's just...not useful for the concept I think. - Buildings should give about 2 tempval per 30 seconds inside (constant of course). Combined with the calorie intake buff, that means you don't have to spend 2 hours in there to raise your tempval again. As it is now, buildings barely prevent tempval drops. - Tents should have a 5m radius around them that behaves like buildings (upping your tempval no matter what). Not realistic I know, but it would allow people to cool-off near tents without having to worry too much. - Skins (future implementation) should offer variable tempval factors. I understand that in the default skin, rain and night is shit, but gimme proper clothing I can sit and read a 1000 pages book at night in the wind and rain without a bother. Good fun otherwise, but wood piles are the new beans! :)
  13. Any and all bushwackers knows that one of the most important item beside adequate clothing is a proper multi-tool. - Saw - Knife - Pliers - Can opener Some even come with integrated hammers, compass, fire starters, watches, etc. Maybe somewhat rare item to be added?

    Where's my trusted multi-tool?

Multi tool's got a small but sturdy saw :)
  15. 1.5.7 could be overwhelming with the respawn, making any attempt at clearing out a place a bit pointless. Now..after some hours playing, there are still plenty but I'd add a wee bit more for good measure. Currently, as some said above, zombies are back to no longer being that much of an issue, especially since they are NEVER in buildings anymore. Will reflect on it more as the week goes by and I test it more.

    Timing of Patch 1.5.8

Yea. I'm quite ok with simulating hypothermia, but antibiotics have nothing to do with that. If you're really cold and wet, get warmer and eat/drink, that's how you solve it, not via antibiotics. Hopefully some skins will have temperature variables linked to them. Also, if you stay away from animals, cook your food and boil your water, do your best to avoid insect bites and have no human contact, the chances of getting some kind of virus is...very very remote. Getting chewed on by infected zombies however...yea....that's gonna fuck you up :) It's just the start though, no biggy.
  17. Tried to test it a bit, using text in global chat. Didn't seem to trigger much zombies. Will test some more and see the radius.
  18. While I don't mind the new fire system much, I agree that with so much forest around, wood shouldn't be the issue, even with hatchet and whatnot. Having a limited amount of matches in a matchbox but not require wood would be a better way to play around this concept I believe. I mean, in such environment, I would understand people killing for a lighter or a matchbox, but not for wood :)

    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

Funny' date=' I felt that this game had the worst time when 1.5.6 came in and everything went back to getting better, after 1.5.7. Good thing for me though is that Rocket seems to lean my way :) There is: - crossbow - lure them away, kill them - use diversion to clear a path ahead of you (flares, bottles, etc). - don't trigger them.
  20. Guys, chill out. It's an experiment so go with it for some days, report obvious bugs (the car/temp seems like one) and suck it up/adapt. What does it matter if you die because of it, it's alpha and we are all meant to die anyway. Simple "it sucks", "it's not realistic" serve no purpose. From playing this morning: - Was an early morning, cloudy day. I seem to lose, over the course of about 1h and a half scavenging/running, around 20-30 temp. Seemed fine. - Found about 6 wood piles in various buildings. - Fireplace system worked perfectly and brought back my temp to 100 quite fast (from 70ish). - It seems that if you put out a fire even just after lighting it up will consume the wood so you can't just relit it afterwards, you need a new wood pile. - New Interface system worked wonder. I didn't have a chance to try bandaging others however. - Filling bottles in ponds work wonder now, no need to swim anymore. While at it, swimming does fuck up your temps fast. - Tents do not seem to raise your temp or provide cover. Maybe a mix system with it could be nice, something like you don't lose temp within a 5m radius of a tent? - Could not find any antibiotics in two different hospitals, various medical tents and one airfield/tower. Might become a very serious issue especially since the server I play on usually is like always cloudy and rainy and I play quite often at dusk/night time. Maybe having them drop at a very, very low % chance from civilian houses would help a bit. - Noticed a lower zombie count overall and didn't notice issues with respawns. Compared to 1.5.7, this was pretty much a walk in the park. I'm worried that we might revert back to a 1.5.6 situation where people got bored with zombies and just kill everyone, everywhere, just for kicks, because nobody's afraid of zombies anymore. I'll reserve final judgement till end of the week when I have more played time. - Flares seem to lure zombies decently, didn't test chemlights. - Cans and bottles don't see to do much anymore when thrown, maybe was just bad luck. - Noticed a drop in bolt drops (could be just bad luck), which sucks since I'm a heavy xbow user and corpses get fucked in walls quite often :) I'll post more once I get more play time into me, but so far, so good. Can't wait for custom skins.
