    Day/Night server filter?

    "Usually", night and day cycles are tuned with real life time-zones so if it's night time in Europe, All European servers will be night time. That said, it seems that server managers can disable that and that it's also affected (maybe side-effect) by the regular restarts being done on a lot of servers because there is no re-spawning currently. Personally, I have yet to find a server that actually handles time properly and they all seem to be perma day time, which is a bit of a shame...

    MORE ZOMBIES!!!

    There are other important things of course but it's a core feature and many other things that will need to be addressed later on will depend on balancing the zombie presence. Once we start seeing 1000+ zombies up on the map at all times, it suddenly makes finding food/water/ammo/guns much more intense and therefore created a full experience from freshly spawned to veteran survivalist.

    Getting thirsty/hungry to quick

    In real life, if you started running everywhere while starving and dehydrated, you'd probably die before you get anywhere far. Conserving energy, doing slow precise movement, preventing any sweating process and controlled breathing, that's what you'd need to do.... Stop running everywhere and you'll be just fine. I think it's recommended to drink 100-200 ml of fluids every 15 minutes for things like marathons, which is pretty much what your guy is doing when constantly running and load isn't even factored in yet I think. in DayZ I walk a lot and jog only until character starts breathing heavily and I can go a long time without any need for food and water. Usually during travels I take 1 gulp of canteen every 30 minutes. I also can jog/sprint a long time before the character actually feels the effects, useful for when it matters. When I reach town or have enough supplies, I take a breather every 2-4 hours, get as much food and water in the character as he can take until stomach is full. Usually, it's rice until satiated, then full water until full. That keeps the character in an healthy state overall. If you fresh spawn, do NOT sprint/run everywhere or you might die before even finding anything to drink. Just try to locate a fountain, take your time, drink your fill, THEN start running to get some food.

    MORE ZOMBIES!!!

    From what I understood, a lot of the time spent on them so far has been to completely strip down all the now irrelevant AI from the game engine (since there are no NPCs, just zombies) and design a much more "zombie focused" pathfinding and AI. (as seen here, with Rocket explaining: LINK) The big part that remains now I think is to restructure the pathing inside buildings, which I think was scratched totally (according to Rocket in his latest stream I think). The overall goal is to have an ultra optimized zombie AI, and nothing else, which will alleviate server issues when we get increased spawns, since it's all server side.

    That's their problem now isn't it? Why the hell should anyone care and why would you post here? It has nothing to do with DayZ whatsoever. Any mod to just sink this thread into some off-topic dark corner or something?

  7. Hmm, haven't run into this issue so far and nothing really different since patch either. Game's overall quite smooth, running around 30-60FPS depending on where I am without any "freeze" of any kind. Have you tried different servers? For info, I got a: i5-2500k 3.3 4GB RAM Win 7 32bits ATI HD5770 1GB
  8. Because you..you know...died... What do you want next? A "teleport to friends" button? I'm really starting to wonder how many people actually play DayZ as it's designed. :)

    25 sec wait before u can exit!!!

    It'll come, don't worry. Rocket stated multiple times that they have a system being worked out called "Server Queuing" I think. Basically, from what I understood, the first time you log out, you'll have like a 30 seconds timer before you can rejoin another server (hence server queuing) and during that time, your character will still be on the previous server. Then, the more you do this within a specific time frame, the longer the timer is. This will partially solve server hopping (there is no real fix for this but it's a start, make it really annoying) and will help somewhat against combat loggers IF the character instantly stops and is frozen in place doing a specific animation AND sound when it happens so others know you're combat logging.

    These are "decent" reasons...problem is that there is about 3 trillions of bad ones for such idea...Don't see (really hope not) this ever happening apart from maybe private hives and whatnot.

Funnily enough, in DayZ, they usually don't. :) The "psychopath roleplayers" (whatever that means) usually hang around with a so called "payday", gas mask, motorbike helmet and/or mosin with long range scope. If not, they're just not decked up properly yet. That's been my finding so far. Otherwise, I agree, do whatever you want, that's the beauty of DayZ: There is no goal but what you choose to do. That said, now that there are 1st person servers, I finally can respect the proper "bandits" once again, which was pretty much impossible on 3rd person servers filled with people like these real life beavis and butthead (LINK). Funnily enough, remove 3rd person and there's a lot less "maniac roleplayers" suddenly :) edit: Now we just need a server option to prevent disabling "cloud cover" setting and we'll see how they handle proper night time.
  16. While I'd love to see some beard growing system (if it can be shaved too), I think the "trophy" system is silly, "proves" nothing and is not needed since there is nothing to prove anyway. If you NEED such things to feel better or something, then why not, but you could just as well write "I'm a veteran of DayZ" on a post-it and stick it up on your forehead, so that everyone can see it :)
  17. Two topics confused into one here. OP stated a clear bug with his mouse when used in DayZ SA. Best is to report it including driver # and mouse brand/name/etc then hope for the best. Another thing you could try is, if you have a secondary mouse or a friend with another mouse, to try for a couple minutes, see if works proper. The other topic mixed in is with mouse movement in general. I think it's meant to be a bit "clunky" to simulate the fact that you just cannot do a 180° perfect aim headshot in half a second then another 180° to finish that second. Basically makes game-play less "twitchy", therefore putting some slight disadvantage on people who, through training, become quick-scoping aimbots while running full speed on a 600m target. If you're good at aiming, you'll still be better than others, just less so. I believe this is by design.

    Not really, there are close to 6.5 billions definition of "amusement" and video games usually try to cater to a general denominator but ultimately cannot please everyone, because we all have different definition of it. I think, but could be wrong, that DayZ tries to cater to a form of amusement some people refer to as "!FUN", which is usually understood as "going through the worst and craziest possible hell before ultimately dying". Games like Dwarf Fortress come to mind when !FUN is involved, but there are others of course. Therefore, he's right on the money I think, DayZ is NOT a game of "conveniences" but a game of pain, suffering, ultra crazy hardcore features and the wonderful pleasures of "crawling for 2 hours to try and find a splint because your leg is broken" as well as "not seeing shit at night because it's too frikkin dark!" where there is nothing to win and you can only enjoy the experience on your way to ultimately death. For example, if you rather suicide your character than indeed crawl for 2 hours, if you rather up your gamma to see at night than play as intended, if you get pissy because you need to run everywhere, then DayZ might not be heading toward your form of amusement, which is totally ok, there are tons of games out there. I could be wrong of course, but Rocket's been pretty clear on what he's been trying to achieve here.

    Antibiotics

    As soon as you start ingesting antibiotics, you will get the "sick" status and messages about your wounds. Don't worry, eat and drink regularly and you'll get more messages about your wounds as time passes, then finally a green notice about your wounds being clean and the "sick" status will disappear. Do not keep taking more pills and whatnot, just take one and let the process go through, might take 30 mins or more.

    Damage Models Stepping Backwards

    Oh, don't get me wrong, any bullet hitting you should be a catastrophic situation. Just think would be interesting to have more wounding options than "die instantly" and "just bandage it". Arma engine does track hit location though to some extend. After that, can be handled with a weighted location table depending on the body part hit, and apply various effects as well as require various treatments. Just rambling of course, never gonna happen :)
