Request: Allow Bans for Death Dodgers
Mojo (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As both Black and Legacy suggested, find a different server and report it. When reporting it, especially if you have no corroborating evidence, remember to a) be polite (not necessarily to the server admin himself, but without any noise of hectoring or entitlement) and b) speak to the facts as you see them, not the emotions they make you feel. If admins do engage in this behaviour, and people adhere to basic common-sense methods about informing others of it, those admins will find their servers empty, their players having made their home and taken their donations elsewhere, and an endemic pattern of bad admin behaviour will have been established. -
Instant kick, Battleye?
Mojo (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
During the early days of DayZ' date=' the most common cause of this problem was attempting to load @jayarma2lib client-side. If either of you are attempting to load @jayarma2lib or @CBA or anything like that to try to mirror the servers' mods, [i']don't. They aren't required and can and will cause errors like this. The only things you should be loading is Combined Ops (Arma2 + OA) and @DayZ. Otherwise, as Black suggested, it may be a problem either with your files themselves, which would require at least verifying the files through steam, or a reinstall, or a problem with your RAM itself, such as malware loading itself into memory. You may wish to run a scan on your system to see if anything comes up. -

For clarification, when you say this, are you saying you're getting an error concerning corrupted memory? Is the error something else? Are you getting no error at all? -
Server issue - Out of memory, just a matter of time

Yep, that's basically exactly what I mean. Every chatty little statement hive or hiveauth generates is dumped to a text file. If it's a concern of tracking players, I can already watch things like the class names of their inventory show up in hive. Trust me, if I wanted to monitor particular players, I would first need to divine who they are, and even then it's much more useful (cheating-wise) to do it in real-time than through a log from several hours ago. If it's a space concern, if you're the kind of host that likes to obsessively log things, you're the kind of host that can ren incremental log files and del the oldest ones through batch scripting. I like to know what goes into and out of the expensive stuff I'm legally and financially responsible for, and maintain it at its highest possible operating capacity, either through active intervention or regular feedback to the application developers. That's just ol' control-freak me.

Indeed' date=' you hit upon the other thing I wanted to see. A way to force fail state for automatic recovery in the parameters. If one isn't well-versed in computer administration (be it server or PC or what have you), forced fail states can often be catastrophic and far more annoying than error generation. On the other hand, if one [i']is sufficiently experienced with what they're doing, forcing a program to fail, especially when entering an otherwise benign error-reporting state, is sometimes ideal (and far more graceful). For example, I wouldn't want hiveauth to force fail if it got a single Error 2006. There could be many reasons for that, some of those reasons causing hiveauth to immediately refresh its connection could compound. On the other hand, terminate application after X minutes/increments of errors/retries would be a very nice option.

Oh, we all get those. 2006 is a "MySQL server has gone away" error. While the hives can be quite verbose, I have no idea if there's a debug or log flag to actually save that verbosity to an output. If there's not, I'm throwing my voice behind hive logging. (And if there is, please, God, tell me what the hell the parameter is).

improper use of admin rights on the server RU9
Mojo (DayZ) replied to Vaseline Jelly's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
And what makes you believe it was the admin that did this? Administrators have no "special" powers to spawn any objects whatsoever, or manipulate the game environment in any way. Injecting malicious or non-standard objects, be they buildings, weapons, vehicles, whatever into the game is not granted by logging in as admin, and is typically done by script injecting to call already loaded assets (in this case a building loaded into memory with the base game assets being forcibly placed at Balota). Unless there was an administrator logged in, at that moment, who was communicated with and informed that this was a problem, who refused to take steps to correct it (which would involve a total instance restart), calling this "improper use of admin rights" is a stretch. -
Can't connect due downloadable content that has been deleted ".chenarus"
Mojo (DayZ) replied to RadiantDusk's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You aren't loading Combined Ops properly. Chernarus is the landmass the mission takes place on, which means if it's reporting it as deleted, then it isn't being loaded. You'll need to start Operation Arrowhead in Combined Ops mode, the particular means do so dependent on how you've installed. -
This is typically an issue with @jayarma2lib being used by clients. As a client, you do not need @jayarma2lib when running DayZ. If you are attempting to load @jayarma2lib from your launcher or shortcut parameters, remove it. The only @modfolder you should be loading is @DayZ. (Or, possibly, ArmA 2 vanilla through symlinks. If you don't know what symlinks/junctions are, ignore this parenthetical completely.)

Request: Allow Bans for Death Dodgers
Mojo (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Because they've committed a violation of the terms of service to my physical' date=' chatter property that they knew (or reasonably ought to have known) was contrary to agreement that permits them to establish a connection to that server. By analogy, if I host a house party, and somebody drops trou and shits on the floor in my bedroom, I don't kick them out of my bedroom, I kick them out of my [i']house. -
Request: Allow Bans for Death Dodgers
Mojo (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Ha! I already do ban for spying, but only ghosting in TeamSpeak (abusing public first come-first serve channels). It's a Term of Service on our server, and while we won't ban you for spying on us in game (following us/stalking us) or legitimately ingratiating yourself to a group, integrating with them, and then betraying them, if you violate the terms of connecting to my server, if I can't use in-game measures, I'll just IP ban the player from seeing my server at all for violating my private property agreement. Which, incidentally, would stop a player from seeing the game server. If you disconnect to avoid death, well, now with 1.5.8.2 that's apparently been "fixed", so hopefully players will organically try to avoid penalty instead of attempting to have it enforced. -
Okay so I, 1.Re-installed 2.Ran the games right after download 3.Went into OA folder and I put in a @DayZ folder then an Addons folder inside of that. I then uncompressed everything within the Addons folder. 4.Then I go to make a shortcut of ArmA2OA.exe but it said -profile path default. Please help I've been at this for two days...:( Does the Amazon version come pre-patched? If not, patch A2 and OA. You can force ArmA2OA to create a profile using the -profiles and -name parameters in the parameters line as well. You can use relative paths or absolute paths. You will want to modify your params line to look like this: Creating a profile wherever the fuck the executable wants to create it: 1. "[your directory path to arma 2 operation arrowhead]\ArmA2OA.exe" -profiles=\profiles -name=lonelyhooker "-mod=[your path to vanilla arma 2];expansion;@dayz" Creating a profile where you specify: 2. "[your directory path to arma 2 operation arrowhead]\ArmA2OA.exe" "-profiles=c:\[your path to the OA install directory]\profiles" -name=lonelyhooker "-mod=[your path to vanilla arma 2];expansion;@dayz" Remember to use quotation marks around paths with spaces to avoid errors. Edit: You will want to create that directory first, just to make sure it doesn't freak out when it can't find it. However, the -name= parameter will force-create a profile with that name in the directory you specify.

How to start the Beta Patched ArmA2OAServer.exe ?
Mojo (DayZ) replied to caspar's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You need jayarma2lib_new Edit: If you don't want to fuss with SixUpdater or go out digging for a mirror, I've thrown a copy of my @jayarma2lib_new on Dropbox for you. Edit 2: You don't need -exThreads=7, only -exThreads=1 (7 is threading for geometry, textures, and file operations, while 1 is file operations only; the server doesn't use geo or tex, so you're adding additional threading, and therefore overhead, for no gains and potential losses). Edit 3: Also that command line looks kinda sketchy to me. No -beta= parameter tended to cause my beta to freak out. Mine is this: -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ;@CO;Expansion;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\expansion;@CBA;@JayArma2Lib_new; (@CO is just a host directory for a symlink between ArmA 2\AddOns and @CO\AddOns, feel free to replace that with a proper path if you aren't comfortable with junctions.) You also don't need three CBAs. Community Base Addons covers Combined Ops, CBA_A2 and CBA_OA are only if you're using A2 or OA stand-alone (ie: not in combined ops). Again, pointless overhead. And wow I need sleep I should have told you all this off the hop, my apologies. -

Well at least now we know the problem is local to your network and not a problem between you and the GameSpy master server list. Ok. First make sure all your Filters are completely clear in the server browser. If that doesn't clear it up' date=' go into your Windows Firewall control and remove the permissions for ArmA2OA.exe (remove them, don't just uncheck the box.) Now fully re-add them by directing firewall to the executable again. Last, try opening up the ports ArmA 2 uses. It shouldn't make a difference, but what the hell. If you don't know how to do this, find your router here. Follow the instructions provided to get to your router's port settings. Open ports 2302 and 2305 to UDP (or open 2302 - 2305 as a range, in UDP). Are you behind any sort of other network? Or have any wonky user or permission settings otherwise?
-
Actually, before dragging yourself through a pointlessly frustrating experience, can you check to see if you can see servers when directly listening for them? In the server browser screen, click REMOTE. When it asks you for an IP, copy and paste this one: 74.91.119.196 You can leave the port as it is. You should, if it works correctly, see my servers there. This will help narrow down the problem.
-
Let's see. First, ensure you're running it with elevated permissions (ie: as an administrator). Second, while running it, alt-tab out of the game and ensure Windows Firewall isn't requesting permissions to allow ArmA2OA.exe to access the Internet. If it is requesting permission, grant it. Third, if that doesn't work, there's always the uninstall - cold boot - reinstall - cold boot - repeat steps one and two trick (a/k/a the Best Buy Geek Squad fix-all solution, "have you tried rebooting your computer). Fourth, if all that doesn't work, check the integrity of the files themselves with an MD5 checksum. If it comes to that, I can generate a checksum of my files and compare them to yours, and we can go from there.

ADMIN ABUSE: Admin "Karl" on TARKOVSKI server
Mojo (DayZ) replied to Gobbins's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bingo. That's any good administrator's priorities in a nutshell. Had one guy today screaming about wrestling in our server (seriously, wrestling) that needed a warning, who promptly informed me that no fucks were given. He got gone. Had one player try to announce server restarts. Nope. Gone too.
