BAD SERIAL NUMBER GIVEN IN SETUP??
Hesher (DayZ) replied to diegorossi2011@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I think it wasn't the fastest solution, I will describe more or less exactly what I did, I did a lot of things like deleting files in regedit, I deleted everything I could delete (arma2 files i mean), that left me with only "Bohemia Interactive Studio" with no visible subfolders. Then I right click that folder -> permissions -> a dialogue screen with 4 horizontal tabs appear -> in the 1st "permissions" tab I checked the "include inheritable permissions from.." and left the second option unchecked. In the same tab I can see all the users and an edit option, I edited all of the users listed there and checked allow for every user there was, and also once you go to the edit option you should see "apply to" option above the list of users, I clicked it and where it was possible chose in a scroll down menu - "apply to" -> "key and subkeys", not all of them can be applied to every user, wherever I couldn't choose both(key and subkeys) I checked subkeys only. Edit: just in case you're not familliar with regedit thingy, as I weren't prior to this problem, in "search programs and files" (windows start button) - type "run" -> enter, dialogue box should appear, "regedit" -> press ok -> a folders list should appear, select and expand in following order: HKEY_LOCAL__MACHINE -> Software -> Wow6432node -> Bohemia interactive and Bohemia interactive studios. Yeah and after all that I ran a game as administrator. Hope this helps. P.S. "Windows 7, 64, Arma2(no expansions), Now I will try to fix Arma2 OA the same way. -
BAD SERIAL NUMBER GIVEN IN SETUP??
Hesher (DayZ) replied to diegorossi2011@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey, I've tried every fix I could find googling the error, none of it worked, I've almost given up and tried the permissions change in regedit, I basically allowed every possible acces for every possible entry that I could find there and it worked. -

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
LOL Better hurry and store your important stuff in your tent/car and sprint to the NW airfield for 1 last "hardcore PVP" session.. Soon death might matter to you like it does to us carebears. Ha so ignorant and condescending. I was in top death leaderboards for months, knew the map inside out while you were still getting achievements for pressing space in some carebear game of yours. By the time I hit 1k hours playing dayz I pretty much done everything possible in this mod. Items are far down on my list of things I want from this game. But the group/clan aspect that this game has is practically being removed due to not having a lasting objective/goal/base because you whiners want free and easy stuff BECAUSE YOU CARE(bear) about it more than anyone, why would you be so happy otherwise? pathetic hypocritical ignorant twerps. This was suppose to be unfair unentitled antigame, but I guess it's a losing battle because these arguments start getting weight "i only has 2 hourz per dai so i deserve to try all teh vihicles and dont wanna get shot by organised hardcore gamers cuz Im so spephial(my mom told me so), I just wanna ride ponies and meet other carebears to sit around fire share beans and have ana....." This is what I hated to see in WoW and now its here. -
Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
So the carebears got their first victory. Very sad day for Dayz. I guess its only a matter of time till they will ruin yet another game with their constant whining. I play this mod since only 3 servers were up and I knew once the game becomes popular the mainstream self entitled people will dominate the forums and eventually will sway dev's opinion over time and it'll snowball from there. It's disappointing that rocket decided to ignore reason and common sense on this one. -
Deny saving tents/vehicles outside of map.
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Paah (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
-1 cause the map isnt big enough. Even a single person can scan half the potential wilderness in one day by foot, having atv or a bike pretty much will guarantee you a find if there is a camp. So if that person knows there is a clan or group of people playing on the server he will find it(I know I did). several people can do it much much faster. There isn't much space to hide the camps if you think about it. You also cant set it up anywhere in the inner section of the map because it will be found by random travelers pretty fast. Unless there is some other way to protect or hide camps limiting it only within map barriers will discourage people from teaming up, setting up camps and eventually playing the game altogether. So before going all hurp durp use some logic and common sense. thanks. -
The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I dont think removing solo aspect altogether or making it impossible is good. I agree on overall idea thought. Surviving alone should be very hard but possible so if you are a lone wolf you feel like its an achievement on its own. Because many people want to be able to enjoy the solo aspect of surviving the apocalypse and "realistically" they can but of course its much harder than having a group of people on your side. -
Its not getting stupid, this is how dayz is and will be. I guess this is just not a game for you. And I dont mean it like "gtfo u nub or l2p" but this is not designed for you. Go play other games there is nothing else to tell you. If you expect the game to change and fit your needs, just dont cause its not meant to be that.

Hello, could you please move me back to the map? I have 3-4 days survived+gear and really dont want to suicide or run 20k km. It happened after I got stuck at loading, had to ctrl alt delete and when I logged back in I was in debug area. Happened on NY22 thats where I play and was near Gvozdno before it happened. Everything is 100% up to date and all files are in order. I always check it before playing. character name is Hesher.

Rare Collectable books - Realistic alternative to class system?
Hesher (DayZ) replied to combatcomm1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not every survivor is a clone or a drone you posses that needs certain knowledge. People are all different and start with different experiences and skills that's what makes the idea of apocalypse so interesting, thinking how would I fit in and what can I bring to the table. You are suppose to represent yourself and the knowledge you already have, but what you are suggesting is a gamey thing find this item and now you are suddenly more important and we know DayZ is a type of anti game. For example I dont know how to fly in arma2 so reading a book will not change that and other way around, thus taking away control from players. When we repaired a chopper after 2 days of bugs and looking for parts, we decided on a pilot based on the highest skill in our group so one guys was always our pilot due to KNOWING how to fly it better than others. Your idea isnt that different from skills and talents system. Having only few books on a servers makes no sense either, what will other people do? So only those lucky or hardcore ones get to certain things and others not? Playing favorites on people due to possessing something others have no access to is not fair or realistic. -
Hey, I think the panic idea isnt that good, I remember Rocket saying not having some things is better and I think panic is one of them. The reason is, it will never be in sync with players, I mean why my charachter is panicking when Im not? he is screaming and shaking when I have the situation under control . On top of that every person is different for someone 30 zombies rushing your building is nothing to worry about for others its "oh shit" moment which also depends on experience. I mean we have the emotional responses in real life and having artificial screaming wont help it, but on contrary might even ruin the experience by disconnecting you from your character. Imo stress sounds more reasonable, have a bar for it and it will build up over time due to different encounters with zombies, players, walking at night... You can reduce stress by smoking, sitting near fire with other people or take drugs? or something like that. Stress makes more sense than panic because everyone gets stressed, even veteran soldiers but they dont panic. So the more days you survive the slower stress is accumulating due to experience of surviving etc. But overall having none of them is better than having panic.
-
flawed logic' date=' you do panic in real life when your precious gear is in danger and perhaps on that exact moment the panic script just wont trigger. therefore, you should only panic IRL. [/quote'] This exactly, Im playing dayz since there were only 3 servers and I still "panic" IRL, ofc not as often now but thats due to experience and knowing the game well but thats what makes it annoying when your avatar is living his "own" experience, thus the emotional disconnection with the game so to say. But yea I proposed stress as a better alternative imo but not a necessity.

WTF is happening to the server community.
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket, respect for not being an asshole, you're the first dev I know that is sane and passionate about his work, ok enough buttlicking, I actually have a suggestion of sorts, it maybe bit off topic, but since you are following this thread I'll just write it here. The idea is simple, the forum is overrun with threads and suggestions and I understand it could be quite a hussle going through all of it, trying to pick out usefull stuff among all the whining and shit. I think you can actually delegate some of this work(filtering out good ideas/suggestions) to a group of forum members or whoever you might see fit doing it, so they can present and refine a grain of sanity sometimes found on this forums, let them present a list of ideas/suggestions to look through, to spare some time and frustration and speed up the whole process. For example you can tell us at glance what could be realistically implemented immediately and things that are far away, so instead of just throwing ideas around that are far off, you could tell us what is more important at this very moment and let people brainstorm something specific you're are currently working on or about to implement and give us kind of priority list of features in some order so we can be of some help. Something along the "Dr. House" kind of teamwork. The general idea is to make the whole process more effective and organized. -
A mechanic to prevent DayZ turning into a massive DM
Hesher (DayZ) replied to reuter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Reuter your idea of punishing players for killing other players is plain retarded. Want arguments? Say one gets jumped by say 4 players and somehow gets lucky or outskills them and drops them all, 10 minutes later he's sniped by "some asshole bandit", now he's punished for killing the "assholes" who jumped him, and the "asshole" who shot him punishes him by ruining his day - that's extremly fair. -
WTF is happening to the server community.
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think we are finally getting somewhere with last posts, it only took 30+ plus pages of mostly useless whining of butthurt people who come to forums after getting shot and basically asking to punish the guy who did it. I think the main point here is that at this point due to overall alpha state of the game, lack of persistency, no server attachments, amount of bugs, death being just a nuisance etc., a lot of people don't really care about staying alive or work towards a goal simply because currently - THERE IS NO POINT, NO INCENTIVE, AND NO FUN to play otherwise. I mean if you can get killed by a door after a week of carefull survivng, sneaking around, after you respawn you're likely just run to nearest city and try to shoot someone in the face and take all their shit, if it doesnt work - hit respawn and try again. To people coming here suggesting awkward highly arbitrary or plain retarded game mechanics to force players to play as they see is a "correct way of playing" - stop wasting forum space with your butthurt whining. To people saying that this game isn't forcing any playstyle at all, it's just what you make of it, imho you're missing the point, the game already forces you to play a certain way due to how it is currently BALANCED, if death(no matter how you die) will carry more drawbacks than it is now, this imho alone will change a lot and shift priorities, there isn't much to loose atm when you just respawn, you might just as well go gun-ho and see how it's turns out and try again if doesn't turn out well e.g you get killed, just try again. Why don't we brainstorm ideas/mechanics that might change the priorities by simply changing the enviroment without coming up with ideas how to punish players who "play unfair"? -
How can we make DayZ more unforgiving/brutal/fun?
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Books/manuals for advanced surgery, helicopter flying, car/weapon fixing(if weapons have durability), and what not, making you a specialist when you learn it, till you die of course. -
WTF is happening to the server community.
Hesher (DayZ) replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Quote- "As it said the problem is not PvP (its great part of the game), its that right now its people with everything to loose vs people with nothing to loose. You can make Bandits have something to loose, but preferable way is to add some reason why one would actually care about survival and in game goals, so that risk would be worth it. Right now, the problem is not player fighting - the problem is that theres literally nothing to do except for it. Even if you organize, wipe everyone, build a base, repair a vechicles etc - in the end, you can only continue to stockpile resources pointlessly, knowing you`ll die eventually loosing it all, or use them to go kill other players. After that, repeating the whole cicle becomes to tedious - you skip the whole "survival" part and just go kill other players from beginning." Agreed. Can't be bothered to look up who wrote it but anyhow I think you nailed it. The thread turned to a philosophical discussion about human nature and how we should preach to a playerbase how to play the game correctly. Really? You wanna change people's behavior or their nature? And how are you gonna do it? People Pk'ing mindlessly simply because "they can" and because the can hit respawn, run to nearest city, shoot someone in the face, get their shit and keep doing it, till they get killed and start over. Is it the jist of the "problem"? I assume that's what some of you are complaining about. And suggestions to "fix it" - is to preach the "correct way"? Right, that's totally gonna work. I hear people saying - "You need to adapt", Adapting is what causing this type of playstyle imho, since there is no real or compelling enough reason to play otherwise, it's boring and pointless, there is no motivation to stay alive except seeing your name on a leaderboard or if you made up a goal for yourself and you WILL get killed sooner or later no matter how cautious you play, unless you go total hermit style, which again is boring and pointless. The game is called "zombie survival", which I think is a total misnomer, zombies/environment surviving is piss easy after you get the basics down, I for example can't remember the last time I died from zombies or environment and I died many times. The fun for me in this game comes from specifically firefight encounters, so lets be honest about it - this a free roaming/sandbox deathmatch with a zombie flavor and people ADAPT accordingly. The question is how to make it more of a zombie survival than it currently is? And how game mechanics can change the motivation/behavior of players? I read somewhere in this thread about vaccine thingy, can't remember exactly what it was but that's not the point, imho introducing game mechanics that will shift priorities from mindless killing to actually making zombie survival a real challenge on it's own could change people's mindsets as well as making death more than just a run for x minutes to get the gear, and eventually ending up hunting other players, since there isn't much else fun to do anyway. -
"This was relatively recent, so humanity and human costumes would still be around. And I actually think the movies highly exaggerate on the destruction because of zombies. We would be able to take them down." Yea I thought we were talking about realism and apocalypse, its not an apocalypse if we can take care of/handle it, just a disaster. Now who wants to play Zombie disaster? (a·poc·a·lypse/əˈpäkəˌlips/ Noun: The complete final destruction of the world, esp. as described in the biblical book of Revelation. An event involving destruction or damage on an awesome or catastrophic scale.).. i feel like you didnt bother understanding my post or the whole concept of what you are talking about. try again please.
