    in reality 99.99% would not survive in zombie apocalypse. Most that survive would be children/teenagers, the older you get the harder it is for your brain to cope with different reality - suicides - suicides - suicides. survivors will turn into savages/animals and cannibalism will quickly become a means of survival once the beans are harder to come by. The hollywood scenario where people "team up" would be a joke, try to sleep next to someone who will gladly eat you or much much worse, morals are your biggest weakness now:"eat or get eaten". Being alone for a human would also result in becoming crazy or animal like, that's why solitary confinement is the hardest punishment in prisons and even the toughest men cant handle it, it leads to all types of mental disorders. Try not sleeping 5-10 days or staying completely alone for 30+ So yea, in reality zombie apocalypse is nothing like hollywood made you believe(like all the other things). Humans cant survive it, and few that would...... dont wanna imagine.
  3. Hello, it seems a lot of people prefer this option but the lack of servers with it leave them always full and crashing due to people spamming enter to get in. I have been playing on EU7 but due to inappropriate admin have left it for NY2 - but its probably the most unstable server there is, its just not up most of the time. For past few days I have been trying to find another server with these options to play on and noticed that there are only a few and always full even when others are not. NL2 is full 24/7 day night doesnt matter and so are others. TL:TR Anyway what Im trying to say is, please consider setting these options on new or existing servers. Thanks.

    Suggested tweaks to balance game play

    I agree, as it stands now, you can easily survive alone, the only real threat in this game so far isn't a lack of supplies or number of zombies, after you get the basics down the only way you can die is bug/lag or other players killing you. On my own, for example I can roam the map indefinitely with more than enough supplies to last me for days and getting them easily by myself till another player kills me ofc. The enviroment should get drastically more dangerous, getting supplies should be a high danger level operation/mission, just staying alive should be by itself dangerous. This should imho increase the motivation to group up and change priorities from - "I'm bored, should I go kill some players/bandits cause I'm full on everything I need" or create a situation where you never are certain that you gonna 100% be able to survive in next couple of hours or so and you always feel a need to stockpile resources and be careful. This way I think the killings aren't gonna be and shouldn't be "just for fun/cause I'm bored", people will be killing to stay alive, and an act of killing should naturally bring high risk and not necessarily high reward ratio. Besides as it was pointed out, trying to arbitrarily punish certain gameplay style isn't gonna work, imho it will only ruin the game, instead changing a motivation behind the choices made by players should be a way to improve IMHO.

    Simple solution to disconnect exploit

    Is it possible to let you character stay inside the server for 30sec after you leave the game? This way people will look for a safer place to log out in normal situations and enough time to kill the person trying to alt f4.

    no, only skills you should have are your own. No magic book giving you magic advantages. You wanna get better at stealth? go ahead and learn it by practice.

I was about to give up on gaming altogether, no game could interest me and after I realized all the new releases I was hopeful and waiting for ended up being "meh" I thought maybe I just got too old for gaming (im 24) or that the gaming industry gave up on me and went all hollywood "lookz diz awzome trailer!!!". But now I have played dayz for over 300 hours and I guess thats all I need to say.

    YES YES YES!!! ZOMBIESSSSSSSS!! Rocket you rock. -I think zombies should spawn beyond visible distance maybe, so that you cant tell if anyone is in the village sneaking around or nearby. It's a giveaway, people might start using tin cans a lot more now to get around town especially at night but other people approaching towns will be able to tell if someone might be there cause of all the already spawned zombies.

    If they can remove moon's effect of brightness or the moon itself this could be mostly fixed. But im not sure if many people would play at night then, which would mean overpopulation of servers where its day. And servers are not in abundance atm as you all know.

    Honestly I dont see any proper use for barricades or barbwire yet, mostly they are glitching everyones graphic and people just randomly place them to annoy other people, I dont think that should be their purpose really. especially the tank traps. Maybe when game gets to a level when groups can set up defenses or camps.

    Not to mention ARMA's mouse smoothing is pretty crude. You'll never have the fluid feeling aiming as you have in other games. It's hard enough to hit those damn zig zagging zombies with a shotgun!! This is something I never liked about ARMA, the camera feels clunky at best. thats why you can turn smoothing all the way down. also reduce aiming deadzone to 0 and you have counter strike when in first person. eventhough I only got this game for dayz I still win most fights.

    went on over 15 servers, no loot spawning no zombies, now running in empty chernogorsk. gonna quit for now and wait until they fix this.

    talking to people with no imagination is pointless i guess... Seems people like to argue just for the sake of it. I guess thats the whole point of forums in general. To argue without even properly reading or thinking about what was written and just giving own irrelevant opinions. plus this mod was possible thanks to rocket and not the engine, if anything they told him no when he brought the idea.

    Well I seriously doubt ARMA engine is anything special or even very good, at the very least it's one of the buggiest engine I ever played especially for DayZ mod, where your stuff disappears if you misclick or your AK 74 shot isn't powerful enough to pierce through household glass windows, zombies ignoring walls etc etc. And yes ofc it's not complete (duh), I understand it's far fetched, but still imagine what if...

    Trading post and money.

    Hey it seems many people like the idea of having a trading post in the game. Many ideas have been posted but I havent seen any which doesnt involve ai vendor or safe zone and protecting might need many people and who wants to stand and wait to get shot in the open? So here is what i got in mind, everything is player controlled, realistic and doesnt need artificial powers to make possible. Add buildings on the map with 1, 2 or more entrances which are easy to guard, player/clans/groups will have to have guards or no guards thats up to you, but dont cry if someone sneaks inside while nobody is covering the entrances, defenders will have advantage on anyone coming inside due to position and expectation which is realistic and makes sense. Buildings should be big enough and entrances shouldnt be easy to infiltrate. One trade post will need at least 3 people to work which sound fine. Other clans/groups or players can attack at any time so the more defense the better(set up machine guns, barb wire?). You can announce your trading post on forums and chats(give it a name?) and building up reputation and trust through comments on forums for successful trades, safety of the trade post or scams thus having more clients as a result of good rep. This will be completely under players control and only requires initial buildings designed and set by devs. Now the problem people getting sniped from outside coming in and out can be resolved by adding multiple paths to the main 2 entrances, that can be achieved by placing the buildings in cities, towns or woods, ofc some places might get camped but so what? everywhere is dangerous and if you are careful enough you should be able to get inside with no problem. Players can add rules like, you must walk into main entrance crouching and move backwards or get shot, stop at check up leave your weps at designated area have your backpack checked for other weps and then let inside the trading post. this is a bit hard due to not being able to see grenades or handguns but traders can keep a list of trusted people as well. Now money is another thing that can be added as a new item or maybe people can chose some needed but rare resources as a currency or something which you can even hire guards with(other players(hire some extra afkers cheap too maybe? just to make it seem safer, its all up to you, your rep is on the line after all)) This is what I could put together so far from what people seem to want. I am thinking about the possibility of some type of auction house inside maybe? for rare items, guns, bullets. I'ts ll up to people, you can post notifications of forums at what time they start etc but I havent thought this through yet. Anyway post your ideas and suggestions, I think we all want something like this we just need to formulate it into a working structure. Edit: I think the game might not be ready yet for something like this, but when it is, having a thought out idea might come in handy. Edit2: using forums/websites as a medium might not be realistic but what else? this is still a game.

    Vehicular Disappearances

    Has anyone seen any vehicles at all since the patch? We've been searching all over and asking haven't seen or heard anyone spotting a single vehicle. Looks like they are all gone. As usual it's the most fun things that get screwed up... oh well we'll have to wait, and while waiting we'll go murder people in Cherno or Electro or raid and kill someone at NW airfield, that seems to be the only way to have fun atm. Without persistant world there is no point in setting up camps and search for vehicles, everything dissapears after the next restart anyway.
