Exactly what I said earlier in the thread. Its a sandbox, you want a purpose or mission, make one for yourself and do it. There is tons of stuff you can do in DayZ.

No, I didnt mean the "npc" notes, player made notes. A player can leave a note saying loot here or whatever, or it could be them luring them to a place so they could kill them. Sure it wouldnt work now, but when a standalone comes out, the game would have alot more features and this could make it interesting. I do not want random/non player made notes though. I edited my original reply to say what i meant to say.

I agree missions would not fit within DayZ, and would kind of make the whole aim of DayZ obsolete. The note system they talked about in The War Z(ugh, hate to say it. lol), would be interesting if done right though. EDIT just like to add, that the note thing from warz i talked about, I dont like the idea of npc notes. If this were to be put into DayZ, I would rather they all be player made. maybe you need to find an item beforehand like paper or something. And if someone comes across it they have the option to pick it up or just read it and leave it there(for the next person).

With how good the game is now(and its only in alpha, and a mod), and how good it would be as a standalone, I would pay 60 for it no problem. I have enjoyed DayZ more than most triple A titles released now. And thank you for the beans. I have given some of my own in return. :P

You kind of said why some sort of goal isnt in the game atm. Its alpha, if you have seen any interviews with Rocket you would see some of the features he wants. Factions, player made structures/bases, etc. More will be added, but its still early days for DayZ. TBH, atm, you make your own goals. I enjoy doing this. By the sound of it you are not in a clan. Why not join a good one? Then you can go repairing vehicles, make camps, do raids on towns, etc. The game changes alot when your playing it with others(that you can trust).

The intended purpose of the game is to give the players the freedom to play how they want, and do what they want. Do not be discouraged by the amount of player kills you hear about. I am playing a few months, and have gotten killed by players less than anything else. It will take a while to get the hang of the game, loot spots, pvp hotspots and the map, but once you do you will begin to love the game(tbh I enjoyed learning how to play as much as playing, and still learn new stuff with each death). If you think you will enjoy the game, I say go and play it. I have never played a game(I know its a mod but still) like this before. Ive never gotten so immersed in a game before. This MOD, is better than most triple A titles released today. I have gotten loads of people playing this and they all loved it. Sure there are bugs, but DayZ is still in its early days. We are here to test after all. if you are interested in DayZ and think you will like it, don't let the PVP stop you from trying it. Its probably the only game that I dont mind dieing in, because DayZ is like 2 games, getting what you need to survive, and then actually surviving.

Phenom II X4 980 and a GTX 670. Have not had any problems running anything. I run dual monitors aswell and never disable one when gaming and everything still runs perfect. I only upgraded to the 670 a few weeks ago from a 560ti. The 670 is a beast of a card. If you could splash out the extra money for it I would highly recommend it. But if you don't wanna spend the extra money for the 670, my old 560ti was great aswell. It would be in your price range and it runs DayZ well.

What? I never said anything about DayZ making profits or them maintaining servers? I was just saying that I, and most people who play it, would do anything they could to help DayZ become a standalone. Not flaming or anything, I just don't understand your reply in regards to my post.

The wow timer thing is used in lots of things, and its used because it works. And you dont even need to add a thing to detect whether your being shot at. They just need to make it so if you alt f4 out(I think the game can detect that anyway) that your character stays in for X amount of time. But yeah, this is the best solution, and sure, it would suck when you need to do this against a hacker. But it is alpha, and when this goes standalone it will likely use a new/better anti-cheat system so hackers would not be as much of a problem.

People have already said it, but the best(and tbh only one imo) is to add a logout timer. I know Rocket tried this(or some variation of this) and it failed as it resulted in dublicated stuff. It needs to be focused on, and done right, and it will solve all the DC probs. A 20 second-30 second timer for logging out would be fine. I mean if you are logging out legitimately, then you would be in a safe place anyway right? I dont think anyone would mind waiting 20-30 seconds to log out if it stopped the DC problems. I feel it is the only effective way to stop it.

I would do anything I can to help DayZ standalone. Getting it off the ground is Rockets turf though. I'm sure if/when he needs us to do anything for it he will not hesitate to ask. He knows DayZ has a great community and are willing to help where we can. :P. I can not wait for this to go standalone though. XD.

Indeed. I have joined loads of servers where i experienced a lot of lag, whilst others gave me none. I think it has to do with how much they look after their server. I found that servers that restart regularly had less/no lag. It is usually best to go to a few servers before you start playing to see which one is best. You will nearly always find a good one with enough looking. This is actually weird to me. I have always encountered the opposite. My GPU temp would be usually low, along with its usage. I felt with how unoptimized the game is that it must not be using the full potential of the users GPU. This would happen an aweful lot in cities and around structures for me also. I never knew it was doing the opposite to others(overheating).

Running a GTX 670 and a Phenom II X4 980 and do not get any fps problems. I don't run fraps or anything(as i just pay too much attention to the fps then. :P) but my game stays smooth all the time and ive never noticed any lag. Though when i played with my old 560ti I did get a massive decrease in cities and around buildings/structures(the more was there, the more the fps went down), but I blame the game for that as it is very unoptimised. Also weird is that when I used to go to a city(on the 560ti) the fps would go down, but so would the GPU usage, it was like it used it less when it needed it more. lol.

You should definetely go for a gaming pc. I prefer pc gaming way more than console gaming but do still have an xbox360 for some of the exclusives. If you are in/near the UK and don't want to build one yourself you could try pcspecialist.co.uk. They do custom gaming systems and are pretty cheap. I'm in ireland and I bought one from them before Christmas and didn't have any problems. HIghly recommend if they deliver to where ever you are.(If you do decide to use them make sure to upgrade to the silver warrenty for an extra £5)

You can filter stuff. Download this http://www.dayzcommander.com/. its a launcher for DayZ like six launcher but way better. It has a friends list, you can favorite servers, you can filter whatever you like, you can see if it is day or night, etc. Loads of things on it. Way better than 6 launcher.

When I first started playing I thought because there were empty bottles in the game, there must be full ones and they must just be rare. So I went on a mission to find a full one. unfortunetly I found out there was none. :( It was a sad day indeed.

So I was in berezino with a friend. He broke his leg and lost a bit of blood so I decided to take a trip to the hospital for supplies. Anyway, I get to the hospital, get the supplies and make my way back to my friend. I climb up onto the roof where he was, give him morphine and let him open my bag to get the blood out. While he is looting my bag, I suddenly appear in the middle of knowhere. At first i was like "oh, I must have rubberbanded back a bit", so I take a look around and had no idea where I was. Within seconds I hear gunshots from 3 different guns coming at me. It was at this moment the idea that I may have been teleported by hackers popped into my head and I left the server quickly(my friend also did). I didnt alt-f4, but i did leave in the middle of being shot at. Is it ok to disconnect while being fired at if it is a hacker? The reason I did it is just thinking of them looting me after hacking me there sickened me. lol. Also was it hackers? The place I teleported to, at the time, I had no idea where it was. But when logging in to another server I realised I was at the other end of berezino, which I had not been to on the original server. So it must have been hackers right? Anyway, just thought i'd share my first experience with a hacker(s) in DayZ. I was surprised it took me this long to encounter one with all the talks about them on the forums. lol.
