    Dying and the Consequences-SA

I usually move so far out from the coastline it's not worth the effort to gather my stuff up after dying. Having the arguably the best gear in the game creates a sense of threath every time you are in a situation you might get killed in. Not that I would not have spare gear in a tent somewhere but I will do everything I can to survive, too often that means killing someone Death timers are not the solution, often the corpse is a target for a murderous bandit to lure in more prey, I never check my corpse unless it's absolutely 100% sure it's safe, usually it aint
  2. When I try to launch arma 2 at all it gives me the following error message: error creating direct3d 9 graphical engine This started happening after 1.7.2 Tried googling some fixes but nothing worked for me. Searched this forum but everyone else seemed to have their error magically disappear Apparently this has something to do with the command line you give at start. Mine is following and it doesn't work -beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ -world=empty -nosplash -skipIntro My friend has the following and it does work: -beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ -world=empty -nosplash -skipIntro We both are running this via steam with arma 2 OA full version and arma 2 free I've tried removing parts of it but it fails to work no matter what I do to it, only way it works is if I leave the line completely empty After working on this for some days I have reached an impass and need someone smarter than me to help

    Spawning Scenarios

I like the spawn ideas. Fairly balanced For additional spawn: Farm - winchester, backpack, hatchet and toolbox or something in those lines

Death should really be the end.

This would just result in more deathmatch so I am against it. Once your inventory full of good stuff it's either find more stuff or go shoot players. I rather hoard vehicles and items than go shoot players at the coastline
  5. I found this lee enfield about 2 meters above the ground level. I tried to get my aim on it but it wouldn't let me pick it up Any tips what I could try to do?

Make Dayz Harder! Part B: Zombies

I'd love to see the zombies be more like the walking dead zombies. They'd move jogging speed at best, straight at you, and appear in HUGE masses. Easy to shake off but would make some places inaccessable by sheer number

    Refillable ammo clips

Make the crowbar appear on the toolbelt and you have my full support. Axe should be enough to break the lock though. Also if this gets implemented we should be able to break down m249 belts for tons of 5.56 x 45mm rounds and then fill empty stanag magazines with them. If all this sorta things gets added we would need the new inventory system added else all this would become too much a hassle
  8. They should overhaul the whole zombie mechanic of the game. Make zombies spawn in hordes, make these hordes gather in towns and cities, then sometimes wander off to forests and countryside. During rain and night they should group up in cities and structures to keep oneanother warmer like bacteria or swarm of insects. This would make rain quite scary once they add the body temperature mechanic. Player held safe havens would then become more important as they wouldn't have zed armies in them
  9. How about allowing players to sloooooowly inch our way thru it

    No more zombies?

You have got to be kidding me...
  11. Parachutes seem too military themed for my zombie survival I agree with the melee weapon slot Zombies are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY easier to shake than before. Just run thru a brush/evergreen and start crouchrunning after it. Shakes any zed in no time. It used to be impossible without buildings in the past

    Feature Request: Drag Dead Body

How on earth can you think that carrying your friend's body to cover after he dies is exploiting a mechanic?

Possible Day Z Map Additions (Opinions)

As long as all our stuff isn't lost when entering water I'd like to see more water

    Lets Brainstorm... on Morale.

Buttsecks to raise morale. All board the fishing boat of love and join the navy

    Nighttime is NOT realistic

We have moon cycles implemented and when it's >halfmoon it's fairly easy to see around. Only at newmoon/cloudy it's pitch black as it should be. If they just fix flashlights so they dont take pistol slot playing nighttime would actually be quite fun

    ZealD's new Inventory System

Inventory tetris is all we need. No separate sections for different loot. One grid for backpack and one for your inventory, weapons fill slots according to their size if placed inside the backpack, toolbelt is separate from the inventory
  17. This is just bloody brilliant! Also I can sense all those polish cod kiddies writing it full of 'kurwa kurwa' whatever that means

    Eliminate the Bandit/PK'r Advantage

Punishing someone for playing a certain way is not the way to go Read my signature and improve your play. Good luck! :)
  19. There is a simple and effective way to punish bandits. It's called shooting back. If you wish to avoid bandits alltogether you think twice before you go running on that field next to the airstrip. In my 130 hours in game I havent died to a bandit once without killing at least one trigger happy person before that. I haven't got ambushed once either, the times I get killed is when 2 groups spot oneanother near a valuable loot spot and try to prevent the other group from getting the good stuff. That usually results in bad things for both parties but it's not really banditry, we are not killing others for beans yet we would get punish for our actions. We can't split that sniper rifle in half even if we wanted to Instead of making bandits get this kinda guns in reward for their playstyle we need smarter players and better endgame objectives.
  20. Maybe just increase tent spawn rate and allow people to destroy other people's tents. More tent usage, less tent cities

    Show backpacks with ghillie suits.

Did you ever read the opening post? It's not about ghillies, it's backpacks
  22. For the recovery, I do agree, it's only logical For the self blood transfusion, no. If you are in a lot of pain after being shot or when you have broken your leg you would not be able to treat yourself properly. I'm counter suggesting that you can give yourself blood, morphine and bandages but with less effective rate, you need 2 bandages or morphines for the full effect and you only get 50% of the missing hp back from a blood transfusion without a help from a friend
  23. I made a wrokaround by adding sixlauncher to steam. It wont record my gametime but that's about the only thing that's not functioning the way i want now
  24. The fix for this problem clearly is not punishing the bandits. What they need to do is encourage friendliness and teamplay. There are a ton of great suggestions here in the forums, in the past 5 minutes i've read about: -non leathal weapons -ability to throw your gun down/put hands up -making your survival/shooting/medicine skills increase over time -adding 'class system' so some players start with better meat gutting skills and some start with better medicinal skills for example All this sorta little things would make 'shoot on sight' less preferrable option

    Increasing challenge over time

Maybe make players make a 'scent trail' that zombies even from far away would start to linger towards. This way zeds would track players into forests and unhabited areas as well forcing them to act quicker and camp less
