They could have done it better, yeah. Like calling the items with their food names like 'beans' or 'chicken soup' but have the actual models with the witty names That or just made the names more subtle so most people would not have even realized what was going on. -
Apples would be kinda cool as there is already an orchard in the game

I feel that it's not very clever as most people don't get the inside joke they added in there. If a player does not know about your fruity remarks they will just find the name bland and uncreative. Something in the lines of "Orlok's fruity Oatmeal" would be much more thematically fitting at least in my opinion. I'm fairly open for this kind of shenanigans from game devs, I know many of my friends would get their jimmies rustled for even more subtle names -
Also we should map some human genes in there so some players would get inheritary heart attacks or other diseases like osteophorosis and alzheimer. There are dangers everywhere!

I don't mind having some made-up products here and there but they went a bit over the top here. Something like "Conrad's Whole Kernel Corn" or "Curgon's Chicken Soup" could slip right past me without a cringe as they are somewhat witty and entertaining but "Orlok Mixed Fruit" or "mZLY yZLY" are just bad taste IMO Add in a rhyme on a thematically fitting product and we have a good made up product, force a name onto an in-game item and we have a community crying about it -
Both can be an option, these kinda things are simple to implement

IMO they should just allow heavy barricading so people couldn't just walk in. You would clearly see if someone had broken in while you were away and it if they did it right, it wouldn't be too easy to break into the bases -
Dont forget to add a % chance to feint/bone breaking chance to running as well. Also a chance to accidentally choke on your beans is necessary

Crowbar is quite terrible. LMG is my weapon of choice, or an AK series gun. Preferrably both *wink wink* rocket, i want rpk in the standalone *wink wink*

I hope they fix the eating & drinking in SA so the player character isn't a gluttonous soda guzzler. In a 16 hour game session my character drank 15.84 liters of soda, that's almost as much as I drank during the session but still it's kinda preposterous amount -

I thought they were going to add melee options to standalone and the reason they aren't in the current version is because arma2 engine wasn't really designed for melee combat (that's why you need to reload fire axes) -

Yeah I kinda figured out the numbers weren't exact that it was the concept you were trying to get across but still, I was curious why so many people think 5 letters is a suitable minimum lenght for a name :) -
If I were you, I'd just wait for the standalone. I was going to do the same after I stopped playing last september or something when I heard that the standalone was coming out december. Well, It didn't so I went and playind the arma2 version and boy, things had gotten a lot worse. Got killed by a hacker thrice in a day while playing in a server with less than 10 people, different servers. It's not worth the time anymore at least not for me, standalone will fix so many things that make dayZ as it is unpleasant

Can agree with everything but this. Why 5 letters? 3 letters seems more reasonable at least for me -
As mentioned, goups gonna hoard and hoarders gonna hoard. Towing would give that one dude a fighting chance to get some of the assets away from the groups

I think you missed my point there. It's a feature that takes a lot of time and effort to develop with very little effect to gameplay or enjoyability for a limited group of people. Adding let's say planks would affect the gameplay of more people with less effort

They really need to minimize the stress that servers go through. With everything handled by the servers and all the zeds & loot spawning at the start of the servers they gonna have a hard time keeping up with everything, let alone adding a giant amount of new entities in form of shell casings. Don't get me wrong, the idea itself is great but it's just technically too difficult to implement to make it feasible -
They eliminated bunnyhopping quite well in planetside2. You can jump once like normal, the second jump slows your movement like 50%, thrid by another 50% and after about 4 jumps you aren't really moving anymore. With stamina and it affecting your jumpiness I see this working out pretty great. We'll see what kind of survivor animations they gonna mocap in the next couple of weeks
