    Why use tents?

I've had three tents (all naturally gathered from supermarkets mind you) setup for days on end and they've not been raided (and no you can't have server name and coords :P). I somehow managed to actually get them clumped together in a group of encircling trees so they're well hidden and off the beaten path somewhat so its a low risk area. I do still expect to be raided so like others have posted I tend to just keep backup supplies and nothing overly rare in them. Mainly they're my insurance against death/respawn so I have a place to go to 'quip up rather than risk a city run. One tip with tents, save them, but twice in a row. Seems to help.
  2. Background: I was running west near a DS just west of Pustoshka, was ordered to stop running and asked if I was friendly, when I meekly said yes you offered me a rifle extra you had I said no but thank you and explained I was just in the market to replace my lost backpack and supplies due to a server glitch out. You said okay see ya, as did I and we parted without shots (at each other though I heard a burst from behind a little bit later, someone was listed as killed shortly after I think but I don't think it was you). First, thank you for not shooting outright. Second, I'm pretty sure this is the first time in any game I've played that I just about damn near wet myself.... I was downright scared to death (and simultaneously smiling at how strangely surreal it seemed to be interacting in a nice way out in the woods). That's an aspect of this game that I like, two paranoid players meeting and not firing first off, and parting calmly and collectively (yeah okay I boogied about 2 klicks further west and logged off so I could go release the bladder that suddenly decided it was full :) ) Whoever you were thank you for adding that extra bit of heart in throat but great experience that makes this mod unique... you just never know what's going to happen around the bend. (Also the URAL was up further west of where we met just a heads up I stayed away from it, it looked fixed so watch out unless it's yours :) ) The TL;DR: My 21 dayz character (so far knock on wood) was not ended abruptly by a random encounter in the woods, and despite being scared immensely it was amazingly a fun aspect of the game that sense of not knowing what exactly was going to happen and then being pleasantly surprised when it worked out without gunfire for both of us.

Lost equipped guns and bag on login

I've seen that recomendation, but my character didn't reset though at least not fully, he was still in the same location as when he was last logged out in and still had clips; bandages and food in the ammo slots for rifle/pistol

Lost equipped guns and bag on login

So I've since started to go back to my primary server and now I'm getting stopped on "Wait for host". I'm hoping this indicates server-side glitch but time will tell...

Lost equipped guns and bag on login

I tried that one I've played on before and one I've never played on at all both times still nothing, though I do still have the food and clips and bandages and (pistol) clips I had before on all three servers I've essentially lost rifle, pistol and toolbelts, I'd just requip from my tent but im afraid of either a.) duping the stuff I take out of the tent or b.)losing the tent stuff if my original equiped items return (if this is a glitch). I'll try a full restart > new server and hope but ... gah!
  6. So I go to log into my 'home' server tonight and my bag, primary and secondary weapons are gone (apparently all my toolbelt items are too)... as in poof just not in my gear. Was this a hack and if so how to report? Report the server it occurred on (US256) or what? If not a hack will my stuff return?
  7. (Although funny and rightfully so I swear to you this actually happened! *Cue Twilight Zone theme*) I was walking around in Chernarus when all of a sudden (without any apparent reason that I can figure) my "Pain" icon popped up on screen. Thinking nothing of it I popped some pain relief and went about my playing for a few until I went to go off to have a smoke. As soon as I went to get up I realized my knee was hurting and it had not before.... at all... all day... or even recently... Needless to say I'm off to get some RL asprin but yeesh that was funny/creepy! :)

    US 100 down?

It was listing on an arma 2 server list as down, and I couldn't find it but I also found I had 'hide full' enabled in my filters, so it may have just been my newbish-ness with the multiplayer server list but it does appear back online again in any event as it lists as playing on that server list now.

    US 100 down?

(note this is US 100 not US100, it and US 105 are "Hosted by .50CalGaming") It's been down a day or so now afaik, anyone know about it? If anything this is just a request for info if any is available and a heads up for its admins if they're around.

    Luckiest loot you've discovered?

Mine was probably sneaking into one of the eastern side grocery stores, got a tent, map and I think an Alice bag though that might have been earlier on the same trip in a resi' area. Most unluckiest was the the (full) water bottle sitting in an outhouse... (No sign of Bear Grylls so I took it). :P (True story!)
  11. ... on US 334, with the ten cokes, one pepsi and some wood piles, I took a coke but left a bandage in return. Thank you that is all. ((Seriously my first encounter with a vehicle in-game and its a big blue truck sitting in the woods, took me twenty minutes just reconn'ing the area before I approached, all the while I had Admiral Ackbar in my head "It's a trap!". Found it wrecked but stocked with a vending machine of cokes couldn't resist as I was thirsty.)) :)

    Friendly list.

I like this and it does have a nice dynamic addition to gameplay feel to it in that it would be easier for players to identify themselves as friendly, maybe more a toggle for players to use to id themselves as such. Granted bandits would use but on first 'murder' it would flag the opposite as maybe 'aggressive' (moreso than 'killer' or 'bandit' at least initially just to avoid tagging someone who accidentally shot a group member trying to peg a zed for example). Over time the 'aggressive' option could modify up (more survivor kills) or down back to 'neutral' then eventually back to friendly. Hard to find a way I think to code that in but it could help somewhat certainly with things like easier ways to tell if someone 'looks' trustworthy. Looking at it from a realism standpoint you can often (if you're perceptive enough) easily identify people to 'steer clear of' so it makes sense that a game mechanic could take over since in the game we pretty much all look the same.

    Okay my turn

Just a bit of a few ideas that I've had kicking around since I started playing, and getting a feel for the mod. Can all/any be implemented, probably not but that's why they're suggestions. Should all/any be implemented, that's not up to me either, I'm merely posting my ideas. :) Rarity of weaponry: I know there's endless chatter about banditry, some for some against etc but one thing that I thought wasn't really put out there that I could see was the rarity of all that high powered military hardware. Firstly after days of careful playing; my current character is more kitted out than some troops deployed in real-life warzones. I'd be willing to bet that if bullets were significantly rare and there was less military hardware just lying around in big pools you'd see a lot less "Sniped for a can of beans oh yeah and his high-tech sniper rifle with 500 rounds of FMJ". It's not unrealistic to think that even in the midst of a military action that was Chernarus during the apocalypse, that hardware may still be there but with the plethora of easy to get high powered weapons and associated rounds right now, did these guys just not shoot a single zombie while they were evacuating the populace? Ammo as a commodity would make you think twice about shooting that guy for a can of beans if it means you're going to have to crawl around for 6hours to find a replacement on that bullet. I feel like this way you're not really punishing someone who wants to be a bandit, you're just giving them more of a reason to think about doing it because it becomes a more tactical decision. Encumbrance: That's the other part of the above, yeah maybe a carbon fiber stocked bolt action rifle doesn't weigh all that much but I'll tell you what even just 50 rounds of rifle ammunition is like a brick, add that up and you're looking at some serious weight in that Alice backpack. Encumbrance should be a factor when you're out digging through the ruins, after all you weigh yourself down with an M4 and 6 magazines it's going to be serious weight. If encumbrance cannot be implemented as an effect on your characters movement speed then make ammo take more slots maybe, that way cases of "Hmm this steak takes one spot but this clip of AKM ammo takes four becomes a genuine choice that you have to make in order to survive. Minimum static Zombie population: Right now the zed populations are dynamic based on player count, but what if there was a base minimum say of 150 or 200 that went up as players joined. You would I imagine see less server 'farming' on low population servers given that no matter where you go there will be zed's to contend with. Anyway these are just my .02 cents bits of suggestions. :) Edit: Quick one I forgot about, bicycles should be more common. They won't unbalance too much and you could have roving 'biker' squads. (Okay this one maybe is a tad unbalancing but would be amusing to have someone pull up on a mountain bike and 'rob' you of your beans.)
  14. What I mean by 'challenging' is not so much that it become more difficult to stay alive' date=' (as in by zed being tougher etc) but rather that there be a wider variety of things that have to be done to stay alive, such as resource allocation, and time management. As it is now, once you find the basic survival kit you're pretty much set. [/quote'] Agreed definitely! :)
