Dayz players in last 24 hours
[email protected] replied to outlawxxable's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Kids are back in school. Not all of them will be playing everyday. With all the scripting going on, kids back in school with much less time to play will just elect not to play. GW2 just came out. I'm sure a fair number of people left to play that. Lastly, yes, some people have quit playing due to the abundance of scripters. Kids back in school and GW2 probably account for most of the drop in players in the last 24 hours. -
You dupin' some hacked weapons? Watch out.
[email protected] replied to FFrank's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's more effective to remove everything from their tents and then put something of your own, not something you pulled out, and then save it. I put in things like meat or bandages. I have never had a save fail when doing this. -
Does your server have working tents or vehicles? [1.7.2.5]
[email protected] replied to Obsolescence's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have no problem changing inventories of tents. I find peoples tents, remove everything and place something common and save a few times. I've gone back and checked after multiple restarts and the tent is just as I saved it. I suggest each person has their own tent and never save the same tent 2 times in a row and always place something new in it before you save. -
So IMO the Hunger Games event failed. Hope the next one's more prepared.
[email protected] replied to Dancingg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They just said a bit ago that they are going to do this again. It really is to be expected that there would be problems. This has never been done before so there is no way they can possibly know what kinds of issues can crop up. I also heard them say that they stupidly named the server Hunger Games and people found out the ip because of it and they got ddos'd -
How do you avoid raging? (hack rant)
[email protected] replied to Fyre (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I simply changed what I want to do in the game. I simply run around with an axe, the best pack I can find, basic survival gear, map, compass, knife, matches, bandages, morphine and either drinks or water bottles. I then run around emptying camps and destroying any vehicles I find. If I die, everything is easily gotten again. I will expect more and do more when the standalone comes out. -
Do you consider the mod playable any more?
[email protected] replied to oshi7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm pretty sure they were saying that all the streamers and Youtubers who have been constantly streaming and making videos are the people who made the game popular. The more popular the game became, the more people who started playing it. As the masses started playing of course the scriptkiddies came into the game. I have no doubt that if the mod stayed at the size that Rocket figured it to be, just a couple hundred people, these issues wouldn't have come up. It's my understanding that this mod was never intended to be this big. It grew too big too fast. I could be wrong but I believe Minecraft didn't even gathered this big of a following this quickly. There was no way for Rocket to have prevented this from happening and there really isn't anything that can be done about it except for stopping production of the standalone to work on the issues of scripters in the mod. The best suggestion I have seen is the taking down of the hive and just letting each server fend for themselves. Sure there will still be scripters in the games but without the hive and with server owners able to lock down their servers and do whatever they want, it might curb the problem until the standalone is released. -
Players in last 24 hours: less every day

Kids started going back to school this week, at least in the usa. Numbers are going to be down. -
The Standing Dead
[email protected] replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I saw this the other day. After waiting 10 minutes for the one guy to walk past the doorway I was aiming out I got up the nerves to walk up to him. Earlier that night, like within the last 45 minutes I had seen a few people get kicked by BE for high ping, around 300 or more. Both of the bodies I found were two of the people that got kicked. -
No one goes up north anymore..
[email protected] replied to NaturaI's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Buy the game twice. I first bought it on steam and DayZ ran fine but OA wouldn't run on it's own. Rather than try to fix the issue I just bought a copy from https://store.bistudio.com . Sacriel has a video on Youtube that shows you how to change between the two keys. Profiles are tied to your GUID so you can change your profile all you want and it will still be the same gear and stuff just different name and possibly face. -
Broken legs mechanism is... broken
[email protected] replied to Thadeum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Easiest and best way to break into the hospitals is to throw a tin can at the far left or right windows. If you can't find a tin can within spitting distance of the hospitals you have more than a couple of issues. Clouds move from West to East. Figure out where south is and craw south. Eventually you will either hit someplace you know or you will hit Elektro or Cherno. -
just try servers with only a handful of people on it. Most people won't play on night time servers so they are usually pretty empty

Hoarder Instinct- How bad do you have it?
[email protected] replied to amaROenuZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I even grab cans and bottles until I find better stuff. They are useful for pulling zombies away or to send them towards others. Empty bottles seem to work best for that. I've seen 5 or 6 head to a spot I threw a bottle and just stand around it. I always have a full pack and inventory. I just dump out the least useful items I have when I find better loot. I'm not going to bother with any other storage until the standalone. -
Am I the only one who doesn't like to use or have snipers in Dayz?
[email protected] replied to Brutal-Hunter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't use sniper guns but that is only because I don't know anybody who plays pc games. If I was in a team and had people to watch my back and go down and loot the kills or lead people to the killing area I would be using them. I have always preferred sniping. When I play cod4i loved to go on sniper servers. Contrary to popular belief, they aren't the easiest to get kills with. Range finding is always a factor. You also have to deal with movement. Sure anybody can hit a target that is just sitting there or walking/running away or towards you but trying to hit someone who is moving perpendicularish to you it becomes another ballgame. And if you don't get them on the first shot they know you are there and any decent player will make themselves a much harder target to hit. The problem that people who continually get shot by snipers have is they generally do stupid things like stop moving out in the open or in view of a sniper spot. I suppose there are probably aimbots out there too -
Just combined ops

Correction. Less than 25 euros, alpha heavily discounted.
-
Lol@ a lot of money. Arma2:CO is $33 The standalone is supposed to be what, $15? Less is you buy it in alpha. So that's less than $50 for 2 games plus an expansion for one if them. Seeing as most crapy games cost at least $50, that is neither a lot of money or a waste.
-
I do that. Whats the point of running back and picking up duped gear all the time? I actually enjoy running around getting gear and doing my best to avoid the PKers. If all you do is just run to a tent and grab duped gear every time you die you might as well be playing a game that starts you out with gear at the beginning of life. It is also another form of PVP. Just instead of camping nwaf or stary trying to kill people when they loot, you let them loot and take the gear from them when they put it in their camp.

Would you play Dayz without Zombies?
[email protected] replied to Flavalicious's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I couldn't really care less if they are zombies or skeletons or hostile chickens, it just the fact that there is a wildcard factor in playing the game. ignoring the NPC's can get you killed and if you pay too much attention to them they can cause you to miss a player and get killed by them. It will be interesting to see what Rocket comes up with in the standalone game. -
Favorite server to play on?
[email protected] replied to unSeen 1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
While this may be true, if a scripter has a choice between a nearly full server or a nearly empty server which one do you think they will chose almost every time. They pull the crap they pull to get people to QQ and come of the forums and QQ. The more people they can get a reaction from the better they get off. As to the OP's question: Whichever one I happen to be logged into at the time. I have a few that I roatate between but as long as the ping is less than 70 and there are 20 or less players I will get on it. I have been killed or ran into people up north in the little villages with as few as 6 players on a server so that crap about less populated servers feeling like single player has yet to apply to me. -
Rocket and team are Lazy/Incompetent/Do not know what they are doing.
[email protected] replied to TheDee (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The fact that the standalone will be a different game is reason enough not to add new features to the mod to test. They will be the same game but completely different in how some of the stuff works. Read through the redit questions and answer stickied thread. -
1st person only, waypoints, what more?
[email protected] replied to echosyp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Regular, Veteran, Recuit all of those tags are meaningless. All the settings are Customizable. The Veteran and crap is just junk from the Arma II game that DayZ is a mod on. -
Weapon/backpack/toolbelt wiping
[email protected] replied to Josh225's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It happened to me one day. I actually happened 3 times over the night on different servers. I logged out because I changed the UI size and when I logged back in I had lost all my guns backpack and all tools, and yes they were all loot spawns. I tried a couple of servers to see if it was just a glitch but they never came back. After the second login I ended up over by that village over by the nwaf, I had been a stones throw from Berezino. I finally said screw it and since there was only a handful of people on I decided to loot the NWAF. I got a DMR and PDW along with a handful of ammo for both and an assault pack. I believe I even picked up a couple of basic tools like a hatchet and maybe a compass or knife or something. I don't remember why I logged out the next time, probably due to artifacting but again on login I lost the guns, backpack and tools. I started looking around Vybor and Pustoshka to get a pack and some food and drinks to replace all but 1 of each I had in my first pack I lost. I then decided to head over to Stary to see if I could get some weapons again, without a map and compass I got turned around and ended up over at Lopatino, but didn't know it. At that point, after playing about an hour more than I usually do and being very tired I didn't think and logged out and back in to see where I was at. Of course I had lost the guns, pack and tools I had acquired since the last time. I then quit for the night and made a thread on here. The next morning I logged in before work and ran to a barn and picked up a shotgun then logged out and back in and I still had the shotgun. I haven't had a problem since. I have no clue why it happened. I know the server was connected to the hive because I had logged in the first time with everything from the night before. There was just some type of glitch in there somewhere that happens occasionally. It was bummer to be sure but seeing as this is just the mod I'm not going to let it get me upset. Once the Standalone comes out this game will be totally different. Rocket will have much more control once he isn't dealing with Arma II anymore and can just deal with the 3d engine. -
1st person only, waypoints, what more?
[email protected] replied to echosyp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First I don't do PKing. I don't play DayZ the Deathmatch Mod, I play DayZ the Survival Mod. When I do have to do combat I go into 1st person. I don't use it to look for people to avoid them or find them. When I do happen to be in one of the cities/villages I am at the very least standing up and running. At this point in the mod I see no reason to hide from the zombies when you can just lose them very easily. Almost all of my time is spent running around in the woods constantly looking around as I run. Sometimes I even forget to not hold down alt I use it so much. I even find myself trying to alt look in skyrim and Minecraft. I do have headbob off, it is the second thing I do in every game that has it right after turning off the music. Post processing has also been off since day 1. guess what? If I spend any amount of time running around in 1st person, even with all the little tweaks that are out there, I get a headache. It has to do the the narrow view that you get with first person. Yes the FOV in 3rd person isn't any wider but it still makes a difference. I had the same issue with another game. I had never played Skate. My first experience with the series was with Skate 2. From the start of when I played it I used the higher angle. Eventually I bought the first game and tried to play it. After about 15 minutes of playing my head and neck start to hurt. Why is that? Because I am constantly trying to get a higher view than the game provides. I have no problem if people wish to play that way though. Right now there is the option, and I personally chose to not play on 1st person only servers. If the standalone is made with 1st only, I will still buy it simply because I like what Rocket has made and I will support him but it would take a lot for me to continue to play it beyond a couple of days. And seeing as the game isn't a Deathmatch game, I see no reason that you should be forced to be in 1st person always. -
Sick of glitchers....
[email protected] replied to The War Is Ours's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you're sick of glitches but you're QQ about people running in squads instead of solo. Shouldn't you be bitching about the glitch instead? -
Causing them to lose LOS is causing them to lose LOS. Standing in a tree is no different than ruining thru a forest between trees until they can't see you. I don't know if you have ever been in a stand of pine trees, but I have and if somebody was hiding in the branches of one you would be lucky to see them. If there are multiple next to each other, no chance without going in after them. Unless they are going to give zombies wallhacks again, you should always be able to lose them by breaking LOS and sneaking away.
