That right there is the unsolvable problem of infinitely re-spawning loot. Saw it a lot in the mod on near empty servers. Add to that the persistent storage options and you will have a populace that can ignore perma-death and DM to their hearts content. Log timers will mean nothing when you can endlessly cycle the loot spawns. Some way of locking out loot and/or locking loot to characters needs to be implemented IMO. It does become ridiculous and breaks the whole survival aspect of the game.

Completely random spawn-points throughout the map would be my vote. Doesn't line up with the back story though so might be a tough sell to the devs. Yet another thing that we will have to just wait and see about. -
The central hive is the problem regarding hoppers. As long as there are different loot spawns on different servers you will get this. Private hives will alleviate the problem and hopefully bring about better role-play as there will be more of a community in said servers. Lazy, greedy people will always take the path of least resistance. If there were a way to lock loot to the character when hopping then that might be a cure. Any thoughts on how this could be accomplished?

This is the kind of third party easy mode BS that began the death spiral of the mod. I hope to God that the finished product makes loot locations and vehicles spawns completely, unalterably random to at least slow down the horrible loss of immersion which results from these websites and guides. The worst thing I did as a new player was to access these guides instead of just learning the map myself. -

LOL Brilliant idea. Don't address the fundamental flaw in having a railgun in game. Just have more of them. This clown obviously never played the mod with AS 50s raining from the sky. The less options for cowardly long range combat in the SA the better. Make people actually have to risk their gear and character if they want to engage another person. -
The hilarious thing is ..... this does not stop server hopping. It is a minor annoyance to them. Anyone sufficiently determined to hop for gear will do it. There is no cure except private hives. Ghosting on the other hand is a legitimate immersion concern and could easily be restrained by having this idiotic timer doubled when trying to quickly rejoin the last 2 servers you were on. I have no issues with the timer idea per se it just seems poorly implemented. IMO we need an interruptible log out timer that does not leave your character helpless in the in-game world as well.

Yes, that's exactly what we need. More options for ass-hattery in an already broken alpha build. How about more stable server infrastructure? Re-spawning zombies? Almost anything but this. Shows the mentality of a lot of people that this is even considered an issue. "How can I fuck over more people at once? hurrrrrrrrr" -

You see, that is the worst of both worlds. With only one heli the owners can stash it in an area inaccessible from ground or sea and completely own your ass, day and night. I have been part of a team that did this and nothing empties a server faster. -

You must be joking. Not easy to fly and completely own the map in under an hour? I don't know what you are smoking but pass that shit over here. Survival Sim... with modern working unsupported tech that in all reality would be one of the first things to go in the slide to the New Dark Age. Get real. I played the mod from very early to the end and all the end game became was a heli hunt. Control of the air becomes control of the server. That is all. If Rocket is smart he will not kill the end game content by using helis. While the Apocalypse Now feeling is fun and a rush, it messes the meta game up way too much to have a place. Get your heli fix elsewhere. Working vehicles are even a bit of a stretch IMO. Severely limited sources of fuel should be implemented. None of this 500 vehicles and 30 helis - AUTO REFUEL bullshit. -

As far as never having a heli - lol They ruined the mod as all my group did was run around chasing them after a certain point. Don't make me laugh. It is all about being able to control the entire server from the air. Nubs want it. Veteran players who know better will oppose it. You make good points about the maintenance aspect of helis and I would agree to a certain extent but the fact remains once airborne they are the EZ mode answer to any kind of vehicle/camp in the game. A better solution IMO would be fixed wing aircraft as they require a lot more space to put down and take off from. As far as immersion goes I still argue that no one that washes ashore in Chernarus will have the technical knowledge or ability to repair/maintain a modern military helicopter. This is not Arma people. This is the apocalypse. The focus of the game needs to be more on survival than bullshit bells and whistles. -

No moron. Ground vehicles are plenty powerful in that respect (base acquisition). They just take time and effort. Helis completely nullify any kind of effort to acquire any other vehicle. If you want to play a heli flight sim then go play TOH. -

No to Helicopters. Just fucking NO. Besides the ridiculous destruction of immersion (carries heli main rotor assembly in backpack) they are way too EZ mode once operational. Haz heli? Own all camps and vehicles on server. I hope the Rocket man sees sense and has zero aerial vehicles. Unless there is an effective way to camo your vehicles/camps introduced, then I would consider fixed wing aircraft that require a long runway/open space to land in. That is all. :) -

lol at this topic. If you set up shop in any area for the specific purpose of KOSing people it is sadly apparent that you are not only lazy but just plain bad at DayZ. Lowest common denominator and all that. If by chance encounter I am killed by a player who uses actual tactical maneuver to best me - well played and Good Game. There is a huge difference. The Arma series of games gives a huge advantage to the immobile, tent pitching jerk offs. Challenge yourself and don't be one of them. -
In this game - stats are for scrubs. No other answer needed. Now as far as a skill progression mechanic - that's a different story and one I am in favour of.

Post count of disrespectful asshats - low. Intelligent quotient of said asshats in this thread - very low. On topic - Hope you take a good long break OP and come back refreshed to the project. Having been here through-out most of the mods development I took a good long break near the end and found the fun in SA when released. Deans comments may seem to be pessimistic but the guy is only human and seems to be pretty burnt out. At any rate I have faith in the people that Rocket has around him to carry on in his absence. BI has a lot riding on this project, I can't see them letting it fail in any way.
