    helo's still endgame!

The inherent problem with a central hive is that even with a managed loot economy server hopping is not only inevitable, it is the preferred method to gear quickly and efficiently. Private hives are the only way to break this cycle but go counter to the entire premise of the central hive. Is the idea of character bound loot even tenable? Making server hopping have zero rewards should be the goal but from what I just saw it seems they are intent on making it even more prevalent.

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

That is fine but there needs to be a realistic encumbrance model to go with the ASslown 50s. There is no way in hell you should be able to carry a .50 calibre military sniper weapon with a full pack and mountains of kit and still be effectively mobile. I preached this throughout the mod. Make the wannabe snipers choose. Overly complex, heavy as fuck long gun with minimal ammo or a backpack and kit. Not both. Simple and effective fix. There is a reason 50s were taken out of the mod. Ridiculous engagement ranges pure and simple. There has to be some semblance of gameplay balance decisions made, even in DayZ.

    helo's still endgame!

Absolutely. These are huge changes that are being discussed and would completely change meta game behavior for sure. It makes a guy wonder if Dean ever plays his own game. :|

    helo's still endgame!

Based on what I just watched they are planning on encouraging server hopping with hive loot management as well as having places that others cannot spawn into. That seems like a recipe for disaster IMO. You will be forced to server hop ad-nauseum to horde your precious helo parts then you will be able to stash them in a remote location only accessible from the air in a shelter you have built that cannot be spawned into. Hmmmmmm....

    Link for confirmation?

    Why shoot.

It explores the basic viciousness of the human mind in a consequence free environment. It is no coincidence that the best selling games are the most brutally violent in our pathetically PC society. There is no modern outlet for our inner Viking.

    Logged in, stuff's gone

So much drama in here. 1 man's opinion versus the world. Entertaining to be sure. I really didn't think a gamer's ego could get that big .... better get that looked at, it looks infected.

Do you want a Bike now!

Stealth as opposed to an internal combustion engine. Seems even you got it eventually. Transport will throw the map wide open and make encounters even more interesting. Nothing like stumbling across a bike as a new spawn. Wheeeeeee !!!
  9. Was driving down the coast in a UAZ just outside Electro (mod). I spy a new-spawn getting wrecked by a mob of at least 8 zoms. He is down prone and bleeding, weaponless. I pile out and clean all the zoms off him (M14 AIMpoint), bandage, transfuse and offer him a ride. Turns out he was a brand new player in his first run through of the game. His first response once I showed him how to use his microphone.... " Dude that was like some sick movie back there - thank you so much." I ended up taking him all over the map and showing him the ropes. It felt good to show a new player that all other players aren't retards. I could have just ran him and the zoms down for lols (considered it) and I have done it repeatedly before but something just felt right about introducing a new player to the community in a positive way. That would probably be the watershed moment where I realized the potential this game has beyond simple death-matching.

    if you had the choice

Kamenka. For those who know. :)

Do you want a Bike now!

While they still have a lot of basics to work out in the SA before vehicles arrive, bikes will add a lot to the experience. They were actually one of the best vehicles in the mod. Relatively fast, silent and easy to hide, they were excellent to scout with when stealth was preferred. Zero gear storage and fragility would be the cons.

    Organic DayZ experience

lol There are those kind but I hope they fall by the wayside as well. I could give a fuck about some scrub in the bushes/3pp hospital roof with his niper rifle, I've killed so many of those tards it becomes boring. My point is that they are in the long run only doing a disservice to their own experience of DayZ by not taking a chance and interacting. Most of my best experiences from the mod onward have been totally unexpected encounters where one party took a chance and didn't immediately KOS resulting in some crazy adventures. It was a stroke of genius on Rockets part to have people participate in a truly open alpha as the game will change so much that inevitably so will the players. Here's hoping.

    Organic DayZ experience

This is the part of this game that some meat-wads will never get. ^^^^^ IMO if people are too thick to see that they don't deserve the really rewarding experiences to be had in DayZ. Made a ton of friends in the mod by just trolling around the coast in a vehicle and giving newspawns a ride wherever they wanted. Got bored of the Death match mentality ages ago. Hopefully by the end of the Beta most of the A.D.D. clowns will have moved on to the next flavour of the month BattleCall of Field Duty NaziZombies7....

Killed 2 campers with an axe.... felt good.

Good thing this isn't ARMA. Get into the role play and get off the sniper hides. Your gear means nothing - your life means nothing in DayZ. It is the experiences and encounters that really matter and you are totally missing them being a scrubby little bitch hiding in a bush.
  15. AryanBoogeyman

If you steal again my bacon..

This guys problems make that idiot crying about pistol ammo spawns pale in comparison...
  16. AryanBoogeyman

Are they serious with these new pistol spawns?

All I hear in my head right now is circus music....
  17. AryanBoogeyman

Killed 2 campers with an axe.... felt good.

Instead of camping faggots call them skill impaired differently gifted individuals. Or just scrubs.
  18. AryanBoogeyman

    Almost 700 hours in.. and...

Are you also a Navy Seal sniper? Internet retardation.... careful, it's catching.
  19. You lost me at the LRS. You are doing it wrong son. Get off your ass on sniper hill in Electro and actually play the game.
  20. AryanBoogeyman

    Unfortunate fate

Good story. This is what DayZ is. Player driven organic gaming. Love this role playing stuff. GL on the chase.
  21. AryanBoogeyman

It's too easy to get guns

Agreed. The end product will it seems have much reduced military gun spawns. Total randomization of spawns would be great because then it would pay to hit up the smaller towns. The airfields/military bases will always be PvP hotspots and rightly so, but having civilian weapons scattered about will be a lot of fun as well.
  22. Excellent OP. Great thread overall. I too played the mod extensively and share your disdain for NVGs and the crippling effect they have on night play. Flares, glow-sticks, flashlights, all good. A hard cap on gamma adjustment in game would help. Is this doable from a programming POV? I still have hope that Rocket will not take the easy way out and cater to the COD ADD fools. There are so many vanilla FPS copies of copies on the market already that we really don't need one with zombies for flavour. The latest patch and the copious tears in the forum is encouraging. :D
  23. AryanBoogeyman

    It has happened...

Ahahaha I love this guy. True comic genius. Sits in Electro with niper rifle..... <sad face> No onez to pownzzzzzz.... I hope that this threat level is maintained and actually amplified for the final product. As stated before, this is a zombie apocalypse SURVIVAL game not your generic FPS bullshit. The disclaimer should now add "Actually using your brain might be required." :D
  24. AryanBoogeyman

    It has happened...

lol Good. There are more than enough brain-dead FPS games out there to satisfy the ADD crowd. These kinds of challenges are more in line with the "anti-game" Rocket has promised for a long time. It should be life and death to loot a major city while firing your fucking weapon. No more of this COD horseshit. It was old a long time ago. Bring it on Rocket and Company. Turn up the difficulty on this bitch.
  25. AryanBoogeyman

    It has happened...

Ever pop a smoke grenade indoors in the mod? Hilarious. I did in the industrial building near the North barracks. Entire structure collapsed around me and stuck me in a corner that zombies could access and I couldn't vault out of. Burnt through my entire stash of M4 ammo - all sidearm and finally succumbed swinging my axe wildly. lol Cheer up nubs - this kind of patch is what legends are made of.
