EDITED: Are you happy with CURRENT zombie implementation?

Says it all right there. -
Fantastic news wind will affect bullets

Is this a sniper fapping thread? Am I in the right place? :D Excellent video overall and some really nice information presented. Good to see the emphasis on pseudo-realism is still present, Anything that makes ultra-long range engagements more challenging is good in my books. Let the specialists actually have to have a skillset. The COD tards will fall by the wayside. Getting sniped in the SA from LOOOONG range should be more of a "Wow - nice shot" kind of experience rather than " AS50 clown - what a scrub". -
Odd Occurrence, everyone in a server dies spontaneously

Lets not forget the timeless classic - teleport entire server together into a giant death-match arena and watch the mindless masses amuse the hackers by instantly trying to kill each other. Can't wait for that one TBH. -
Server hopping, "matchmaking" and incentives to gear up on a populated server.
AryanBoogeyman replied to hefeweizen's topic in General Discussion
OP your ideas have already been discussed and many valid rebuttals have been offered. Whether you prefer to acknowledge their validity.... well that is another matter. Round peg - square hole kind of guy here. /Thread. -

lol at this guy. Another "pro" sniper. -
Must join guild for better combat rolls... or something..... :| Edit: Love your avatar. Mr. Bean should be a custom character for DayZ.
-
That is correct. When you kill the Electro sniper the game resets and you have won. B)

Hahaha that should be good. Almost choked on my beer when I read that.

Melee is a lot of fun - especially with multiple targets. The pipe-wrench is good for teh lolzz too.

All the *ahem* new players... can't really find their asses in the dark with both hands, what makes you think they even know where NWAF is? :P

Server hopping, "matchmaking" and incentives to gear up on a populated server.

Once persistent storage is implemented this entire argument is moot. No matter the source people will have huge encampments on multiple servers to restock their weapons from. The mod proved this again and again. PermaDeath will not be an issue and the only problem will be the time required to rejoin the firefight in progress. Personally my group had no less than 4-6 starter camps setup near popular spawn points on at least 4 different servers ranging from high traffic to very low specifically for rapid redeployment into battle. Anything from small vehicles and starter weapons to military transport and high grade military weapons were stashed in these locations. Decoy camps were also deployed to reduce the inevitable losses. Further North we had heli camps and large vehicle stashes all over the place on multiple servers to save on losses. My point here is that no matter where you imagine people get the weapons, persistent storage will make a hash of any in game economy. All it takes is time and persistence. P.S. Leave the matchmaker B.S where it belongs.... on consoles. -
Best troll thread 2014.

The use of Viking was not in the negative sense. It was meant to evoke the warrior/bloodlust ethos of the Viking raiders, not the entire civilization which to my knowledge was trading and agrarian based for the most part.
-
@Dean Hall, you didn't touch much on character customization!
AryanBoogeyman replied to extremenuggets's topic in General Discussion
Beards. That is all the customization we need. Epic beard man winz da gam.... -
Good backpack with axe. Everything else is a bonus.

How about ..... helis in AND Stinger missiles? Lock on - fire and forget heat seekers? Why not have fully functional APCs and MBTs? Of course then you would need heli gunships to fight the tanks... Apaches anyone? I mean... it's all possible right? Slippery slope engaged.
-
Love the Mad Max theme. That would seem to be reasonable IMO. Not a fully functioning Huey with pristine LMG door gunners. Cobbled together scraps of the pre-Apocalypse FTW. Totally with you on that. What people don't get here is that in a scenario with no running water and no electricity, everyone will be scrabbling just to survive the elements never mind waltzing around abandoned airfields looking to power up and joyride a Raptor or such. Edited for mistaken identity. My apologies.

If they absolutely have to have this level of pre-apoc tech in the game (which they will - too many COD scrubs paying to not do it)then that is not a bad compromise. Coupled with a passive skills system this could be a good way of handling it. Nothing as asinine as just reading a Popular Mechanics mag and then building your own airport but over time( a LOT of time) and with regular practice a specialist could amass the skills to get your vehicle running. I'm all for a different game experience but I'm really against having EZ mode anything in DayZ. Make the player-base work for it Rocket.

Have you ever picked up any type of tool and tried to physically repair anything more complex than a nail-clipper? Your comments grow more and more ludicrous.
-
I think you are correct in that they have an actual timeframe and roadmap presented. What you fail to recognize is the ramifications of some of what they propose as it pertains to meta-game behavior. If you are confused perhaps watch the videos again and re-read some of the comments here.
-
You assume too much. Having seen the laughing stock that abundant helis make of the game in the mod, I speak from experience when I say they are better off left out. Fixed wing small aircraft would do the same job but would have significant drawbacks that a military heli just doesn't have. If you want a military flight game there are plenty out there. DayZ really needs to focus more on the survival aspects like Dean mentioned.
-
Yes it is a big problem with no readily apparent solution. Having your character randomly change position upon server change would break immersion as well IMO. The whole central hive thing is a novel idea but to me not ideal for DayZ unless it can deal with hoppers properly. The log in timer is a good start to deal with ghosting which to me was the worse issue. The announcement of no timer for re-joining one server is better, perhaps they could lengthen dramatically the timer for others?

Humans that have been trained, worked on and maintained that specific model of helicopter? Or just some guy that washed up on the beach? How about the logistical concerns? Lubrications, oil, fuel, electricity, proper parts and tools...... did we wash up on the beach with any of that in our back pockets? Helis are completely counter to the supposed survival aspects in DayZ.

That reads like a list of shit that no sane person wants in-game. Include pre-apocalypse technology that functions on a level that no untrained person or persons could hope to operate or support logistically to that list.
