I just hear this on the Rooster Teeth podcast. The Idea was that you could eat people you kill (using the animal eating system), but as a result of eating human flesh, you are given the "Canabal skin". This skin could be coverable by clothes.

A suggestion to drastically reduce the murders
Peninja replied to SwissArmy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
let me re-phrase this DayZ is humans reacting to a high pressure situation where hours of work is on the line. It's destroy or have you're shit destroyed. You stop trusting people after being shot a couple of times. Once you learn that, shit gets real and you learn no one can bee trusted. That is my opinion and would be if I were in an apocalyptic situation where I had been shot at multiple times. sure the game doesn't represent what would happen at first, but after a while, the people that trust everyone would die out, and the only people left would be the ones who rarely trust others. Once someone gets into a group, they have other people to protect as well as more to lose (chances are you have picked up some good shit with your group) and you're not going to trust anybody outside of your group. It's natural selection. Let's say at the time when DayZ takes place, the zombie apocalypse has been going on for a while and the people who weren't willing to kill on a whim or a hunch have died out. Now you're just left with a bunch of cold hearted bastards who have only two objectives: guns and beans. -
So basically, you want to turn this game into battlefield or CoD. If you're good at the game, you won't end up in situations where you are killed by someone you don't even see. That's where the skill takes place. Keep to the tree line and check your corners. If you're in a town, be on high alert.

the first suggestion belongs in the bug report forum, the prone stance does have an animation and you can inspect players to see what caused them to die.

Great idea! Logical and Probable!

look asskisser, you have just said what one million other people have been bitching about for a long time. The crossbows Idea is good, the a bounty system would be unrealistic, and the rest has been suggested about a million times.
-
I Suggest that you spawn with a hatchet.
Peninja replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
congratulations! you are the one millionth person to suggest this! but seriously, hatchets are so easy to find, and so are other weapons if you know what you are doing. -

Yet another "How to stop banditry" thread.
Peninja replied to soapmak3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
NO ONE is going to penalize banditry! It is part of the game! -
Bags do the same thing, except their universal. no need to overcomplicate things.

[PVP/Logging] Reasonable ways to stop combat-loggers

you may just be the first person to suggest this... if you don't count the other million people who have posted a thread on this (I'm one). -
Broken legs should heal over time (a long time)
Peninja replied to Zosso's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
you're more likely to find morphine before a broken leg heals. -
I don't have the problem with the cursor, but I do agree that the punishment for a simple missclick is a bit harsh. an are you sure? button would be great.

A suggestion to drastically reduce the murders
Peninja replied to SwissArmy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What do you mean " It has become uninteresting and 'unrealistic' in terms of the human reactions that would appear in an 'apocalyptic' situation."? This makes no sense. What you see in dayz IS humans reacting to an apocalyptic situation. -
This is a Video Game. It'll Never Be 100% Realistic. Bandit and Sheriff Skins
Peninja replied to krytosss's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How about this: This game is a simulation, which means realism is of almost highest priority. This game also has a lot of depth in the way you react to things, especially survivor to survivor encounters. The point of taking the bandit skin out was: a: get rid of a shit tonne of things wrong with the game b: make meeting a survivor even more special. you said, "I think [PVP] is essential and should stay, however it needs to be changed so it is more meaningful.". Well, putting the skins back in would ruin the meaningfulness of the encounter part of the game is deciding what kind of person you are and how you deal with meeting other players. Are they good? Are they bad? For example: my friend had a 5 minute conversation with some guy who broke his legs. Unfortunately, my friend had no morphine to help the guy. After my friend told him where he could find morphine, the guy said he was just going to start over, as he didn't want to crawl all the way to the hospital. so my friend said good-bye and turned to make his way back to the forest when the guy shot him in the back of the head. My friend made the wrong decision (and excepts that fully). He didn't once consider the guy's allignment (bandit/neutral) and for this, he payed. The skins take all the thinking and questions out of the game. You just want to be spoon fed the answers. Also, the mechanics behind the "who shot first" question would be impossible to work out. there are too many contradicting variables. -
The global chat is now mostly disabled, and there is no electricity to run radios or computers. I also have already created a thread on recognizing friendlies: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=26446&highlight=recognize+as+friendly

I think this idea, while creative, is useless. Realistically, you wouldn't be able to a smell a person IRL unless your within 2-3 feet of him/her (unless they have some sort of condition) and by then you've probably seen or heard them. Another thing is: flies are not attracted to things that smell bad to us, they are attracted to things that smell like they can lay their eggs in. people assumed that because flies tend to be found near shit and dead things (both smell equally nasty) that they must be attracted to bad smells. They only really care about laying their eggs in these things as they are both good food sources for maggots. Also, If the body odor mechanic was implemented, then zombies would have to have flies buzzing around them too ass they are basically walking piles of rot.

They already have this, it's called ArmaII. It comes with DayZ.

-Slower zombies: I agree, but only slightly slower. Just enough to make it possible to outrun them after a while. (and I mean a WHILE) -Zombies can't go through doors: No. Then you could just hide in a building for all eternity with no worries. Maybe if you could bar the door with a piece of equipment that spawns in any building but VERY VERY rarely. Maybe less rare in buildings with more doors. -Zombies can't climb up ladders: Also no. same reason as the door idea. -Zombie damage reduced (or that you loose less blood if attacked): No. Zombies don't do that much damage anyway, and if you play the game right, you shouldn't be getting hit by zombies in the first place. -Maybe new melee weapons: you are possibly the one millionth person to suggest this. The melee weapons in the game now are fine. the only thing I would like to see is the hunting knife being usable as a melee weapon, but does barely does any damage unless you stab your target in the back where it instakills. - Zombies Boss mobs (bigger than normal Zombies with loot): No. this isn't a fucking RPG or L4D. This a REALISTIC simulation game. (They also technically already have this. it's called another player. they are much more dangerous than zombies and they drop all the equipment they have.) -Weapons and backpacks can't loose in water (this is so ridiculous sry):This can be turned off by the owner of the server, however, most don't because, realisticly, you wouldn't be able to swim with a backpack anyway. Conclusion (about you): you want things to be easier. This is not an easy game. It is supposed to be difficult and realistic. My suggestion to you: go play this game: http://www.deadfrontier.com/ I used to play it when I was nine. Sounds like it's closer to what your looking for in a zombie survival game.

None of what you just said makes sense?

It is a known problem that players constantly log out to prevent themselves from being harmed. I suggest this: A 10 second log-out timer. During the ten seconds, the player automatically goes to sitting position. If the player moves, the timer is disrupted and the player must re-initiate the log-out. This will effectively stop people from abusing the Alt-F4 command to quickly avoid danger. It may also prevent them from loot farming via server jumping, as they will be vulnerable in highly zombie populated areas (as that is where the high tier loot is) for ten seconds before logging out.

An Idea that will make this game much more realistic and tactical
Peninja replied to ericdude88's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
cool idea. A urine system should be implemented too. -
bandit skin back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peninja replied to blazingbrandon's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Look. the problem with that skin was once you had it, you couldn't get rid of it. even if you wanted to try being friendly, you couldn't because people could always kill you with no penalty. Besides that, with the addition of different clothing, the bandit skin could easily be covered. I'm glad the whole Karma system is gone. Part of the game is real human reaction. It's more fun to react to something questionable and unknown than something easy to discern as a bandit or an innocent.
