I'm curious about people's apple/berry picking technique..how do you do it? I... search each tree twice, once kneeling, once standing and then move to the next whether i find anything or not. (I find something 1 in 5 I'd guess. I have no reason for this method apart from it seems logical to me!)

Was my first farming and only through desperation. Almost the first things I found were a hoe, seeds & canteen.. Picking apples and walked past a greenhouse with lime.. Still took ages.. But I'm now stuffed!

Just had my my 1st run on 0.56.. Is it normal to get spoiled plants when grown? Grew some peppers, 5 plants in a greenhouse, all fertilised with lime & watered... 2 were spoiled & 3 were good.. Is this normal? Cheers

What's the state of play/servers today? Last couple of times i've tried to play recently servers have been up and down and unplayable. Hope to get a game in a bit..any feedback greatly appreciated.

Presently it's living up to its 'unstable' tag.. servers are up & down like a whores draws.

Sounds like Dayz is getting there...the game is meant to be about raw survival, not about running around with a auto-rifle and pockets full of ammo. Regarding running around.. are you searching everywhere? or just military hotspots?

I think a full wipe would be good. All persistence; players, tents etc.. wipe the lot.

'normally'... however this is based on Arma.. that has always had a lot of the 'graphics' CPU bound. Who knows if this will be the case with Dayz full release.

.....there was a time when the difference between 'hardcore' & 'normal' was going to be more than just camera view. I hope this will be the case one day. We can have servers for folk who want to gear up in short period and go PvP deathmatch and another set of servers that challenges players to survive against the environment & players alike. One can only dream. (in this latest patch I was stuffed & healthy within literally 100 yards of my spawn... hardly a challenge.)

Game is boring again. I'll try again in 0.56 or experimental. Endless loot and all the guns that make the game dull.

Is the improvised bow broken in this patch?... I couldn't draw the arrow back..

Well I've played Dayz for the 1st time in months and i really don't get the complaints about everything being too difficult in this patch. Infected are too hard, loot it too rare, get hungry & thirsty too fast etc etc etc.. Its made the game more difficult which has made it a load better. I've had a blast. Not starved, not been killed by infected, found tons of loot inland. Couldn't find a gun...been snaring rabbits, made a bow, got a hatched, pick-axe, meat clever, box of matches, 3 canteens & a cooking pot... I can survive forever in the wilderness if I want. Glorious patch. Love where the game is going.

Oh the irony... I have a pot and just about nothing else! What do I need to make a tripod? Sticks & rope? Or something else?

I consider myself a casual Dayz gamer and I play under the exact same rules. Seems like 101 of Dayz to me. Beauty of Dayz is the number of different ways you can play it.

Might be a time to make a return. Am i right there is a hive/character wipe with this update.

You are entitled to your opinion. But if you think this CPU @ 2.8 Ghz out performs one at 4.5Ghz then I believe you are the foolish one. The K at the end simply means it is unlocked and can therefore be overclocked, so yes the K is important. Real life examples are more relevant than benchmarks.

I'm using a Intel i5 3570k overclocked to 4.5Ghz with a GTX 780.. getting good fps.

Excellent for email, internet & word processing... not good for running dayz/arma.

yeah.. upgrade or overclock your cpu. 2.8 is slow, and this engine needs a lot cpu power. FPS is a combo of cpu & gfx card.
