Sounds like you are trying to make a new server and host rather than join a server. (You don't need to use 3rd party software.)

Sounds like you want the settings that give the biggest advantage to survive. Sorry cant advise on this. The area you want to test & play with is post processing, motion blur, & AA.. it's likely youy want to turn them all off.. but i'm an eye candy screw the consequences type....

Well you don't say what you are after, i.e what optimially means to you; highest possible fps or best looking game or some comprimise between the two! Personally for me I'm happy with 30fps with the settings to make the game look great.. so i set everything to high or very high and enjoy. Set everything to max and have your resolution set to 100%. Job done.

I survived!! It was a minor Dayz miracle! I left my PC and had dinner.. came back and was logged out of the server. So I assumed I was dead.. So I made a new character and joined a server... only to spawn as my old character!! It was not an ideal situation, I had all my prime gear robbed, but i still had some good stuff, I was bleeding and the screen was so blurred I was practicially blind. Yay to be alive! I am a survivor.

I'm new to Dayz SA as from last night. I played the mod quite a bit but took an extended break about a year ago. The new stand alone is looking excellent for an alpha game. The reason of this thread is: Do you think one should read some of the excellent community guides on how things work or just play and learn from your own experience? it seems for me a lot of the fun is working out how things work for yourself. The game mechanics seem to be well based on real world fundamentals. Personally I think this will be both more rewarding and extend my interest in the game. It can of course also be frustrating, but I plan to try this and also not use loot maps etc. I'm probably at a slight advantage or possibly disadvantage, depending on you view, knowing the map very well being an old time Arma player. Interested to know what others feel regarding this, so what is your opinion? See you in the woods!

I suppose i have that from playing Arma for years and having played the mod. So its not like i don't know how to do the basics. My first life went south after eating a rotten banana! Something i quite fond of in real life! LOL but i got sick and ended up with black & white vision and ended up getting knocked unconscious by a Z! Lesson number one learnt; stay away from rotten fruit.

Hmm that is a rather long shot. Was playing as a lone wolf. It's been about 30 mins I'm surprised i'm not dead.

Arrrggh just been attacked by a bloke with an axe... I turned around and saw him coming just in time and got some blows on him with my axe. I had a military helmet and he didn't... I'm now unconscious and suspect he is the same or possibly even dead....will i ever wake up to find out! After the initial shock of the attack i had a good laugh... I hope it was a double knock out. I think he would have finished the job if he was conscious.

It's very simple.. scale. Op you mention BF2.. common seriously? You can throw a rock across maps on any other engine i'm aware of. Arma is the only engine that supports massive maps with ease.

I must be a lucky man.. 3 months play, present character 48 days old.. not encounter a single hacker. Always play on public European servers with cross-hairs & 3rd person view off. Maybe hackers don't like hardcore servers?

Don't rely just on supermarkets.. lots of other locations have matches as well. I'd look everywhere in your scenario. Every residential location has a chance of matches. Random example Pustoshka has over 50 residential spawn locations excluding its supermarket. And its supermarket has 24. So by searching the whole town you are 3 times more likely to find matches than just looking in the supermarket. :)

Wipe the Hive and all gear please! Wipe everything please! A fresh start is needed, so much accidentally & intentionally duplicated gear. (i have a 50 day old character with everything.. so i do have a lot to loose)

I've searched the forums and looked in the wiki.. but i cant find any explanation of how it works. Obviously if you do good things your humanity increases, and bad things causes it to drop. Murder gives negative humanity, but what else does? Killing infected? Killing bandits? And what increases your humanity? Thanks for any info.

I went to NW airfield the other day.. the barracks had nothing of use in them.. but right outside the south barracks i found 2 tents loaded with gear.. one had a DRM the other had M14, as well as shit load of other decent stuff in. Pretty weird. neither were in 'bait' locations, both were stuffed with gear.

Anyone got screen shots of the different skins? Are they noticeable in 1st person view? i.e can you see the difference in your own skins from 1st person view? ( I only play on servers with 3rd person turned off.)

Ok.. i keep on hearing about the standalone being released using the minecraft model. Cool, but what the hell is the minecraft model? I've never played minecraft and have no idea what it is or how it was released. (yes i do live under a rock) Can anyone please explain this model to me. (every interview or statement seems to assume this is common knowledge.. but it is meaningless to me.) Thanks for any info.

It seems humanity is buggy... and surrounded in a certain amount of mystery. So its really hard to know if something is as intended or just not working as it should. We really need some input form Rocket or similar to explain the intended workings of humanity.

OP you are too funny... how many hours did you play this free mod for before you got bored? Must have been quite a few to achieve all that you have. That would seem to imply it is a good mod. Was it boring the whole time? If so why did you play? What do you expect out of a free mod? Endless entertainment? Get in touch with reality. Do something else you have obviously played the game to death.

Hmmm really? I have 2 in my gear but have had no reason to use them yet... i might now have a good excuse to throw a few now!
