I've been in search of a mosin...this life i've found many many m4s, magnums & fx45s, but not a single mosin! I could have equipped a platoon with M4s!

Well OP if you have been shot 30 times you need to consider that you are a lot of the problem. You must be running around like a headless chicken. If you don't get seen you don't get shot!

Hi lads.. I've had a few in-game maps now, but i can't figure out how to view it. "Put the map in my hands, press the key assigned for map", but all i get is a black screen. I presently have a Western & Northern map, and I am out west.. but i just get a black screen. I only play on 'hadcore' mode, if that makes a difference. hanks for any help.

Thanks Steak & Potatoes it worked as suggested. It was just the buggy hotbar that caused the trouble. Sometimes that hotbar is just fubar, And yes i'm well aware of the loot maps, but don't want to use them. The ingame maps are more fun to navigate by.

Hmmm I did try this but nothing happened at all. But the whole hotbar is a bit hit or miss at times.. i'll try it again. So you dont press the map key, i have assigned m as map in assignments. Thanks

OP IMO they are trying to fix dayz as we know it. The game will be a lot more fun when high powered rifles & scopes are incredibly rare, or non existent. Personally i think the vast majority of players should be armed solely with malee weapons. Nothing would be more fun than being help up by bandits armed with bats & axes! I actually think it should be ammo that is very very rare.... so you might have a gun but only one bullet! Dayz mod was just another shooter in the end... Dayz should be different and be a survival game, not another shooter.

Hi lads, I have a question. I have a 35 item, think its called mountain backpack, Its massive... and red! I normally play on 1st person only view servers. Ideally i want to take it off and hide it before I enter a town or similar area. I want to do this for two reasons: Its massive and RED! I feel like I have a big shoot me sign on my back. Secondly you cant see over your shoulder with it on, this is really annoying and troubling while sneaking around a town. My main concern is if I leave it somewhere will the game remove it? And if so after how long. I'd really hate to loose all my gear by the game 'cleaning items up'. If someone finds it, cool... but loosing it ot the game mechanics would really suck. Can anyone advise on the safety of this strategy in reagards to game mechanics. Thanks.

Hi all.. I've heard a few times that cars can be a good place to find loot. I must have searched 50plus cars and never even seen a can of tuna.. let alone anything decent. I've been opening all the doors & boot (trunk, for you savages :P ), searched under them.. nadda, nilch, squat! Unlucky? Looking in the wrong place? Or something else. Yesterday I got to raid Stary Sobor, no one had been there before, maybe 10 cars.. nothing.. saw a police car, nothing. Is it a myth.. or are cars good loot spawns? Cheers.

Well good day to you... Fruit is on my mind....and the discussion here. :) I played quite a bit over the weekend, bought the SA on Friday. Experienced both the good and the 'alpha' parts. In my 1st life i nearly died after eating a rotten banana. It fact it was the main cause of me being knocked unconscious by an infected as i was very low on blood and still sick, at this point with a lot of gear. Promised I would never eat rotten fruit again. But one of my favourite rules is.. rules are to be broken! New spawn last night on a full server i simply could not find any food apart from a tin of tuna.. that i was unable to find anything to open it with.!! Anyway I was literally starving to death and came across a "pristine" rotten kiwi! The irony was not lost on me.. i checked my personal rules, and then promptly ignored them and gobbled it up. And yes i fell sick. Does the condition of the rotten fruit have any bearing to the chance of getting sick? Eating rotten fruit is a last resort.. but on a full server without respawning loot is a potential necessity. Lastly I'd like to tip my hat to the insightful person who raised a very large bug in the bug tracker. I tip my hat to you sir! :)

What have you done to try and fix it? Verified? Reinstalled?

My advise: Don't ignore buildings near your spawn. Its amazing what people miss. A single tin of tuna can be the difference between life and death. Ideally find a water pump.. drink until you are full. About 10 times or more. Don't avoid large interior towns until you have a gun. An axe is the best weapon in game IMO, you can live for a long time with that alone. You are in more danger with a gun.. as people will be a lot quicker to shot you. Large inland towns are your bread n butter. Don't agro Zeds willy nilly. Creep around, dont be spotted.

That's not how i see it.. I've meet lots of people with lots of interactions.. I've neither died nor killed anyone.. Of course it will and does happen.. but that is the fun of it.

I don't need to read 20 pages to give my opinion. We don't need it, and I certainly don't want it. Its gamey and unrealistic, so its no from me. If people want it in private servers.. go for it, i don't give a rats ass.

Did you see anything when you opened your eyes? There a 6 threads on this subject on the 1st two pages alone.... so before you start with the insults engage your brain.

hmmmm ok... all my car searches have been post patch.. and i've searched a hell of a lot and found nothing.. thanks for the heads up. I think car spawns may have been removed..

Cheers lads... I'll keep opening them doors! Seems so odd.. cos I've been to numerous towns that have not been looted, found loads of loot in buildings.. and not a single thing in the cars in the same towns.. just unlucky i guess.

To be a hero you need to be like a crazy evangelistic Christian type.. and always turn the other cheek and come back for me. Pffft you take to two and turn!
