OP you are generally right...The fact that loot does not spawn is a fundamental game feature yet to be implemented. Count yourself lucky there are also f all zombies. But you can do it... I did and many others have. New life last night after patch on hardcore hive, 40/40 players, nighttime... just managed to survive the 1st hour.. now i'm prospering inland. Happy days. This is what all the alpha warnings are actually about.

Sounds like you were unlucky with the shirt disappearing.. that is not that common. Apart from that, as other have said, welcome to Dayz Alpha.. its a blast!

Have you: Restarted Steam? Restarted Windows? Restarted Router/Modem? I know they are obvious but.. have to be asked. Have you: Deleted Local Content for Dayz? Try..closing Steam... then Go to \Steam\SteamApps and delete everything in downloading & temp folder. Restart Steam and try downloading Dayz.. Let me know if any of this helps of not.

1ST character.. dodgy start at the factory on the east coast with about 5 other bambis.. get into a 4 way fist fight, two zombies and another survivor! Other survivor went down 1st and then i manged to knock the two zombies out for the count! Was not in a good way after that. Luckily I found an axe after that in the factory. Yay the savoir! I headed inland..hit a number of towns, haven't seen anyone since leaving the coast. Some villages had been cleaned out other not. After about 5 hours of play with only my faithful axe as a weapon I just stumbled upon a military base, it would appear to be new one added in the standalone. Got my 1st military gear! But damn.. no beret! I want one after seeing this thread!

It would be much more fun if when you get ambushed by bandits they were mostly armed with axes and bats.. with the odd shotgun or pistol with minimal ammo. Getting attacked would be much more intense and fun than the ..blam blam that we have now.

GunnerSquad... There seem to be a number of misconceptions. A massive part of the game is about equipping yourself in order to be able to survive. If it only took minutes there would be no game. The times you list are nothing.. it should be hard to find supplies. You found a rifle within 10 minutes and you complain about not being able to find gear??? Do I need to remind you the game is in Alpha and is simply not complete or ready for end users? I strongly suggest you take the official advice and don't play Dayz until it is more complete. I agree with Greaves.. would love the map lots bigger. Good luck

I don't get it either. It worked fine before, you choose your server according to the settings you wanted. Now you either have two characters or play solely in one mode. It's not always possible to find a low ping hardcore server, with good player numbers at all times of day. Seems a very odd thing to have done. Hope it gets reversed.

I could do that before. I prefer to play on 1st person only servers, and that was an option before. But if there were none of these servers with anyone on in my area I'd happily play on ones that allow 3rd person view. All this 2 hive thing has done is reduce options and solve nothing. I still don't get what was wrong before. It was up the the server settings. This will either divide the community or worse kill hardcore. Seems odd, maybe I'm missing something.

I don't get it. How does having separate hives for hardcore & softcore (not sure what they have called it) help anyone? I must be missing something! I don't get it.

1st time I spawned I was with a previous character.. had dinner came back ad i was on the beach. Oh well time to start over. EDIT: actually I think my new character in on the hardcore hive and my kitted up one is on the pussy hive :p That's a pain in the ass.

Not much point keeping it. I just removed mine and dumped it.. I got annoyed at it clipping through the top of doorways as i walked through them!

Wise words are ones that point out obvious problems with an alpha game? More like a Captain Obvious words to me. I'm sure most of us could point out 20 things that need doing / addressing / fixing.

I agree, I hope when loot gets balanced ammo is VERY rare. I think this will improve the fun of the game immensely. (for me at least) I want the game to be about survival not just another shooter. 90% should be armed with only malee weapons IMO. Much more fun that everyone armed with auto & semi auto rifles.

I really don't see why people who like 3rd person on those that don't need to worry or argue. Both options are available. Both can be happy. I do think there is some truth that 1st person only has a smaller niche and therefore attracts less hacks & grievers. But for me that is only a small benefit. Being an old time Arma & trackIR users I simply find 1st person better, especially when in buildings & trees etc. I do dislike the fact that you can look around things and even see through walls in 3rd person, but i do like to admire my attire.. :)

I think it is hesticial after telling your 'story' you manage to make this statement. Too funny and i doubt anything anyone says will enlighten you. With the present lack of content, being an alpha and all, there is not a lot to do outside PVP.. but the game is not being designed with its sole purpose as PVP. It is PVE and part of the E is the P :)

Thanks for the input. I'll likely do it now and then, but not as default. Some servers are good enough to say the times when they restart. Been seen with a big backpack greatly increases your chance of being KOS, so at times the risk will be worth it.

I'm only for basic vehicles. 95% should be push bikes.. the odd pickup & motorbike that'll need some fixing etc. No choppers or shit like that. My personal preference. I'd like to see row boats :)

Is this also true for other people's opinion or just their play style? The hypocrisy and irony of your reply is certainly not lost on me.
