Oh the irony... I suggest if you want to question if I am making any sense you write something that actually makes some sense. :P But yes i would like to see the dot cross hair removed. But it does not help you shoot someone at 700m... And? Maybe he doesn't know how to shoot a gun, or use a tin opener, or craft a backpack or make a split.. should i continue? -

Yeah.. makes sense. But there should be a greater chance an iron sight is accurate when you pick it up, as it is already attached and may already be 'accurate'. -

The Arma engine has always made my GPUs run super hot. My whole rig goes from silent to a a hover craft effect playing Arma/Dayz... better that than blown components. -
Interesting.. would love to see some more testing at different rangers. But I suppose its all temporary as Dean has said a lot of work will be done on sounds. Having accurate bullet sounds is very important imo, so i hope it sees a lot of love in the dev process.

I've never seen a spawn timer.... I can't imagine why. I'd never heard of it until yesterday, heard of it yesterday as it was on the BBC news... so you are not alone. They described it as.."you tap the screen to keep your bird flying"... yeah, I think i'll pass on that.

Legs broke when logging in on a hill...now game crashes 100%

I can't think why you are connecting fixing broken leg and the game crashing... Have you tried verifying the game files via Steam? If you have and that didn't help, try re-installing. If you were on a 'normal' server try a 'hardcore' as that will have a different character. -
You combat logged if you then joined another server. If you stopped playing after logging off you didn't combat log. That's my take on this.

Combat logging, server hopping & ghosting are IMO game breaking exploits. And need to be addressed from the get go. So i'm surprised they are only approaching a system to combat it now. IMO it should have been in place before the alpha went public.

I can't say i agree with your analysis. When i say military loot only in random 'heli crash' type locations, i never meant that you would not find other good weapons elsewhere. I think 90% of hoppers do it for military gear. Therefore they are mainly hopping at the static military gear hotspots. If these simply did not exist a lot of the problem would go. With regards to 'spreading players' and therefore detracting from gameplay, the solution to this is very different. Loot should be diverse and totally spread.. all we need is more player.. 80+ is what i would like to see. You will never get rid of hopping & loot farming as long as the requirement for loot exists. All you can do is make it tiresome for hoppers by penalising them. If its incredibly dull, time consuming and frustrating server hopping for loot a lot of this behaviour will stop, but never all. Regarding penalties.. i've never seen a timer when i have been disconnected or lost connection for some random reason. So maybe types of discounts have different characteristics that can be observed/recorded. I also think the majority would be okay will some collateral annoyance by being delayed by a penalty if to greatly reduced hopping and the like. That is the way i see it anyway. -

There are many areas that can help with this problem. More military locations with a lower probability of good gear. More random loot spawning. Having a chance of potentially finding good gear in even the crappiest locations. Longer server switching time penalties Player stat tracking and penalty system for server hopping characteristics. (removal of gear, death, etc) Having gear hotspots that are reliable for good gear will always cause server hopping. Personally I think military gear should only be found in random 'heli crash' type locations. These should be too numerous & random to allow easy loot farming techniques.. -
I'm not saying you did anything wrong. And i was summarising how i interpretative your interaction. You didn't say 'friendly', you said something along the lines of 'hey guys, put your guns away, we would have shot you if we were hostile'..and i think you shot 1st.. not that you had much choice by that time. But confronting 3 armed players, some with masks is very rarely gonna end in the exchange of beans! I'm not criticising your play, you likely could have killed them before they got a shot off if you'd shoot on sight.. just commenting of a vid the starts with were friendly and ends you killing 3 players you could have let go. They may not have understood English, they might have feared being killed or robbed by a lone bandit once they were disarmed.. clearly they should have responded on VOIP.. i'm curious why they didn't..

AFAIK there is little point talking about Arma1/2/3 & Take on Helis as if they are different engines. Its all one engine under constant development. As Dean is now part of BI he has access to all the code, and therefore uses the sections that work for Dayz. I bet there are sections of code from all versions of Arma in the present standalone.

I don't use a loot map, as it does take away from the game some. But i do like to use a os type map. http://meta.filesmelt.com/downloader.php?file=A2_Chernarus_Map.jpg I enjoy navigating using this.. just adds an element of gameplay to me. I also like that it is out of date.. that adds something. -

I think 30 seconds is too short.. i'd prefer 2 minutes. Maybe some dynamic system can be created. 30 seconds if no bullets have been fired within 5 minutes within 1000m 60 seconds if bullet has been fired within 5 minutes within 1000m 120 seconds if bullet fired within 5 minutes within 500m Not prefect.. but something along these lines. -

Zeds... I did notice when the experimental servers got their 2nd patch last week they were upped to 50 players.. but after 30mins or so reduced back to 40. :( -
