Is having hacked weaponry bannable?
Entaro (DayZ) replied to Charlizard's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
23586249 / 23791095 / 23808130 might be the players uid (hive id), not really sure though, only familiar with this stuff on the db end (private server). you were mostly right about location, just tha tincludes the 139 as well: [139,[1860.25,2012.54,0]] I have not figured out how this translates into ingame position yet. amovpknlmevasraswrfldfr / aidlpercmstpsraswrfldnon_idlesteady04 is his state, though that shouldn't matter. I've heard battleEye is detecting scripts now though, so maybe they are just filling it with variations of bullsh** to pass through the detection. As I said not sure about uid, sounds like you have 2 or 3 script kiddies though from that log I think. M4 SD Halo M203 is the popular cheat gun right now, seems like there is a little epidemic going on on the hive servers at the moment with it. -

Eh, I agree with you, people are getting very uppity about this supposedly ALPHA PROOF OF CONCEPT RELEASE. Save this sort of player management bullsh** for a release title. -
no need to go against alt f4 :-)
Entaro (DayZ) replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are broader implications though than just the beginning of a firefight, or somebody sniping headshots. Its when you hit a team of people, kill one, the others go into cover, then altF4. It just sucks all the tension out of the air when you have your own personal escape pod. -

"M4A1_HWS_GL_SD_Camo" is the halo M203 SD with Eotech scope. The weapon isn't banned on the dayZ files, but it does not drop in the game, hence it is possible for cheaters to push it into the game via a script or hack. So yeah, its not a legitimate weapon. That would be easy for rocket to permaban for since its easy to search the databae for "M4A1_HWS_GL_SD_Camo" and any results that got returned would obviously be hackers or people who killed a cheater and picked it up off his corpse. -
I wouldn't exactly call them "hacked", but they are not currently on any drop tables, so whoever has them was either running a private server or used a script to force a skin change. There is no item like the Ghillie suit or camo clothing, it requires a database change or script force to change into one of these skins at the moment. Two playerskins in DayZ are in the game but don't drop: "Soldier1_DZ" which is the british soldier skin seen above "Rocket_DZ" which is a british soldier skin with a red beret

Killed an unarmed man. It changed me. For the better?
Entaro (DayZ) replied to Buick72's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Kill on sight is boring IMO since surviving in DayZ (players aside) is easy. You get more interesting events and interactions from opening direct communication and not blasting on sight. Its a sandbox game so your experience is yours to an extent to make. Some people server hop at the barracks and to look for crashed helos for the best gear to PvP with. That is Zzzzz to me. More fun to roll the dice. The other day a guy spotted me in the Elektro fire station tower, told me to hold fire he was coming in (didn't explain further beyond that at this point). Met up with him in the garage area of the firehouse, turned out he needed somebody to give him a transfusion before he headed up north to meet up with his friends. I coulda wasted him and been some morphine, blood bags, etc.. richer, but that stuff is easy come easy go and doesn't bring any story with it. The only enjoyable kills for me are the ones were you are reacting to violence. -

The mechanics don't really support banditry or stealing, or taking prisoners, tackling somebody, handcuffing them, whatever. Simply put, if you are a bandit (meaning you rip off other players) your safest bet is to kill them first, because otherwise you are putting all your trust into them to not kill you in the process. (Yes I know there is a mechanic to lower/raise your weapon but it is pretty shallow). If mechanics allowed a bandit to run up to a player and restrain him or knock him unconscious, etc... then that kind of play might be more viable. You can't loot gear off of a player (only pack) that is alive - it requires consent of him to drop it on the ground, etc... the whole process is too slow and delayed and based on CONSENT. As it stands you either grief or "roleplay" a bandit. Roleplay is nice, but it requires cooperation to a limited extent. Banditry and consent are oxymorons. Plus while permadeath is a nice mechanic that influences player behavior, at the end of the day you will respawn, so when a player is faced with being robbed, you don't really have anything to lose at that point (since life with an empty bag is what you end up with either way). If you are being robbed in real life why drop your gun? Well because you don't want to die maybe. In DayZ situation? There isn't a lot of weight behind the decision making process. You can either go out fighting and end up dead with nothing, or (possibly) live and have nothing. So the only weight of the decision is your distance from the coast, which you may or may not care about. We should also clarify that anyone who considers themselves a bandit in the sense that they loot players to further their own survival is roleplaying. The vast majority of people that would consider themselves a bandit are just playing deathmatch because there is no endgame and the people they're killing aren't in their guild.

Good news! There's always going to be dedicated hackers, but if the detections are frequent enough, then most of the leet kiddies will not last past 2 or 3 CD-Key purchases in my experience.

If DayZ was ever made into a stand alone game, would you be open to a single player experience (eventually) being included?
Entaro (DayZ) replied to xPandaHunterx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Singleplayer sandbox lends itself to a Skyrim sort of experience, and that involves NPC's and quests. Seems (IMO) that DayZ should be centered around the survivors (players) meaning your experience should come through interaction online. I could see some kind of tutorial though, like a Left 4 Dead Campagin, something that gets you familiar with the game inside of a few hours, nice little rollercoaster ride. I wouldn't favor any kind of meaty single player portion though - It'd detract too much from the sandbox multiplayer mode. -
I've tested and confirmed that only .45 pistol ammo is affected as well.

idea: players without gun cannot die by other players?
Entaro (DayZ) replied to anton364@hotmail.nl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There should never be a mechanic that limits what a player could otherwise do. There might be consequences or benefits (mechanics) for certain kinds of behavior, but it should never have an artificial limitation. Maybe new spawns should start with a crowbar, god knows youd never use it otherwise. -

When the admin logs on, and then that happens... I guess I have no proof as to who was responsible, but awefully coincidental. -
Depends on server somewhat. GTX 690 i5 3570K @ 4.5Ghz SSD In a "busy" scnene (City with zombies & players) I will average 45 to 60. Anywhere else upwards of 90-120. (120Hz monitor) The single biggest frame booster in the video options that I have noticed is Object Detail. Reducing it from Very High to Very Low gains me about 10+ FPS easy. AA is worth a couple FPS. Textures 0 FPS difference to me. AS 0 FPS difference to me HDR quality 0 FPS difference for me, recommend High as it really pops the colors on screen and adds considerable visibility at night. Post Process looks like shit anyway so I don't know who would have it on in the first place. Video memory should be set to default on everybody's machine. Visibility & Terrain Detail are server-side/hive. Shadow detail is worth a couple FPS. Vsync sucked some FPS from me, should be off for everybody as very few people I imagine are getting 60+ FPS in busy scenes. Mainly though, see how Object Detail changes FPS for you, it seemed to be the only setting that really made a dent in my numbers.

In the hands of a spotter it negates pretty much all tension with regards to other players, since other players are where 99.9% of the tension comes from. NVG is rough enough - I don't see how you can justify a scope that outlines players against all of the terrain... As the poster above said its a wall hack... its ESP.

The one and only Anti-PVP/PvP Discussion thread! Whine/discuss here!
Entaro (DayZ) replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is the truth of it. Sniping could be made more difficult, or more rare, sure. But ultimately the best way to deal with the issue of serial killers is by making survival a bigger element of the game. The lack of constant survival in the later stage of character life is what fosters the environment of bored players engaging in deathmatch behavior. Its not anti-PVP. You can't take pvp out of the game, it is a huge part of the exhilaration and constant fear/frustration. But getting ganked for no reason by somebody you didn't see 100's of meters away is just boring. ^ And that above behavior has negative consequences for the game. It fosters the KOS mentality that is more and more prevalent. It is frustrating and nerve racking enough when you encounter somebody you don't know without adding the baggage of being constantly ganked. Getting constantly ganked just reinforces a shoot first policy and further dilutes the gameplay.
