Yeah don't upgrade just for DayZ alone. Upgrade your hardware when you notice multiple games you are interested in are starting to show signs of having trouble. Yes it is early access, and yes they havn't worked on any kind of optimazation yet because of it being EA. Truth be told (this is no complaint just an observation) like most simulator type game engines they arn't known to be running on the average machine with high FPS for obvious reasons. This has always been the case and I'm afraid it always will be. It kinda is like the days of old with PC gaming when games where always pushing the technical capabilities of the hardware of the time to the max. In the years of the gaming consoles this is for 90% a thing of the past, and maybe we arn't quite as used to it now. It's both a blessing and a curse, but this is another whole discussion so I won't go any further into that. Anyways I digress.

Alright, since I'm already responding let me give you some advice. If you want your channel to grow it takes a lot of work and dedication. Especially when you're one of the many let's players, even a DayZ let's player. To get some good will and viewers from here it doesn't exactly help that your first post on the forums is about you promoting your channel. No body is going to give a shit. Sorry for being blunt, I'm not trying to be a dick, but it is the truth. I do wish you good luck though with your channel. Keep working hard and hopefully viewers will come.

Ok two things. One: This is still an alpha so that means that optimizing of the engine isn't great yet. Two: That GPU you have is a bit dated. I realy doubt it will be powerful enough. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but to be blunt it is the truth.

I think you're talking about "Postprocess Quality". Put that on " Disabled". It is in the Rendering menu.

Strange, my old GPU was a HD 7770 and I didn't had that problem.

Awesome mate, and good luck. I know it is a bit annoying, but in the end you'll be happy trust me. Don't forget to back-up your saves though, if you have those that are not saved by the Steam cloud. Just a warning. I lost all my Dark Souls 2 saves. :(

I upgraded my system a few days ago aswell. When I installed my new motherboard (amoung other stuff) I had to do an OS reinstall because of that (driver conflicts, the old windows 7 wouldn't boot up). When you reinstall Windows 7 (I'm not sure about other OS) you have the option not to wipe your HD clean. It will rename the old Windows and Program files directory as Windows.old. That means you can't boot it up again from the old Windows and all the installed drivers are not usable anymore. It does let you keep all your programs and files though, but you have to reinstall them in order for them to work again. 32-bit only applications will still work in a 64-bit version of Windows. You can install them and they'll be fine. Most games are 32-bit anyways, so that would be silly if they didn't. ;) Mate, seriously Install a 64-bit version of whatever Windows. Now you shot your PC in the foot with that 32-bit one. NP that you didn't knew. You can't know everything when you build your own system for the first time. We all learn from our mistakes. :)

So let me get this straight. You run 32-bit Windows on that machine?! What a shame....You know that because of that you won't utilize your 16 gigs of ram right? 32-bit OS are ment to be for systems that have 3 gigs of ram or less. Install a 64-bit OS A.S.A.P.

Yeah that's indeed the case with that site. It is absolutely no garantee that it will be an enjoyable experience when you meet the recommended requierments. The same goes with the system requierments on Steam btw. It always seems to me like a shot in the dark. Luckly I gave my system a upgrade an few days ago, so I should be alright for a while. :)

Don't feel disheartened. I think it brings (almost) every PC to its knees. Hell most of the time, especially in towns, I'm happy with 25 FPS while my GPU is bored to tears (30% usage) and my CPU is only mildly flexing its muscles (50-60%). I'm not sure what is up with that. In open fields and forest areas my FPS is around 60 though. To be honest I stopped caring about FPS as long as it is playable.

I'm a lone wolf aswell trying to survive, observing other do their thing while shadowing them from a distance. Sometimes it doesn't work out and I get spotted and chased down by some russians, but I find it a load of fun. I never shoot at another players unless I get shot at first. I get killed a lot of times though because of this fact, but I don't rage about it. It's part of the game and I enjoy that tension. When I join a PVE server for instance I get bored easily. When another player spots me I try to be friendly and do a little wave. If I don't get shot (let's face it, 90% of the time you will) I go the opposite direction and go on my merry way.

Meh I don't understand all the outrage on here and the Steam forums (what's new right?) and Reddit. He leaves when the game goes into beta, big fucking deal. After the Alpha stage is finished all the game elements should be (largly) in place, so there will be only bug fixing. Dean isn't a bug fixer, I bet BI will have some very competent programmers for that. At that stage it doesn't matter who is in charge of the team, as long as he is competent leading the programmers and gets stuff done. I honestly feel sorry for Dean, I bet he feels pretty shit right now explaining what he ment to all the ragey people out there on Reddit and elsewhere. Was it smart of him being honest? No not realy, but he is a honest chap. Secondly I don't understand all the Dean worship. He made a mod, which grew very populair and BI gave him the chance to make it into a standalone, great. He isn't some sort of god, and him leaving after alpha doesn't mean the project will turn into a giant turd. He isn't that star quarterback or Leonel Messi that when he leaves the team the team will turn into shit. I don't know the guy, but I like him. He had a good vision which spawned a new game genre and that's something the gaming industry lacked for many years now. I tip my hat for that, but I am not panicking now that it was announced he will return to his home country after his usefulness is done. TLDR: I feel sorry for Dean. Stop being so fucking cynical.

This is basicly the EVE Online solution and in that game it works like a charm. For a number of years the disconnect trick got exploited there aswell in pvp until they implemented the exact same solution and now combat logging is a thing of the past. I agree with this solution.
