You boviously don't read the logs. I don't see mention of DayZ anywhere. I understand they are modifying the base code, but i don't see many things (if any) pertaining directly to DayZ. My clips still regen to this day. I get it, they are making progress, but I see minimal changes with these Betas. I see huge changes with DayZ updates. I don't expect Bohemia to drop Arma II updates and work on DayZ 24/7. But I want to know whats happening! All of us do. We want details! What is Bohemia focusing on? How are they helping this mod? What are they doing with BattleEye? What are they doing to thwart hackers? Is it just me or does it seem that Rocket and his team are the only ones in this?
-
As far as I can tell, the logs discuss things about weapons and features that don't exist in DayZ, hence many of them can't pertain to DayZ. New beta up btw!
-
What about the Beta patches? Have you seen the patch notes? The log? Correct me if I'm wrong but, It almost seems like they fix multiplayer issues for everything BUT DayZ.

Good to know

This /\ They have made a killing on Arma II and OA sales. Everything has been rather hush hush though, wouldn't you say? We rarely, if ever, hear anything about Bohemia's involvement, leading most of us to believe that they are not being proactive. Regarding the pulling of the strings: Agreed, I just want to know who is pulling the strings and where. Rocket seems pretty adamant about the community being involved in the making of this game and it seems strange so little is said about Bohemia. PS. My apologies for getting my story wrong. I knew he approached someone, didn't know who and can't quiete remember where I read the Bohemia thing, but I'm sure it was in this forum.
-
That makes sense. I hope Rocket gets a big fat bonus check.

Yes, but Bohemia did not say "Hey Rocket, stop working on Arma and make a Zombie survival mod." In fact, I have heard the complete opposite. Not to spread rumors, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that he approached Bohemia with this idea and they didn't like it and told him it could never be profitable (wrong... sorry). I'm sure they appreciate the 700% sales increase this mod has provided now. I have been expecting for weeks an OFFICIAL announcement from Bohemia and Rocket about partnering to work on a standalone DayZ game based on Arma III engine. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors. I'm hoping this thread might clarify.

Just posted a thread about this called "Shutup and take my money". I say $15-$25 gives you access to the game. At $20, you should net at least 5 million dollars (maybe much more). Pay yourself and your staff to develop the game but have Bohemia help you port over to and manipulate the Arma III engine into what you want it to be. Seems logical that Bohemia would do this since their sales of Arma II have increased by more than 700% since DayZ blew up. Servers should not be community run. You cannot rely on the community to host servers when dying is permanent and character progress is such an important part of the game. Perhaps some of that initial investment can be put towards hosting servers of your own as too many people are complaining of admin abuse. EIther eliminate that, or take the reigns. Good luck!

I believe this has to do with 1 of 2 things, or both. 1) In a vehicle, you enter the town much more quickly than on foot. Zombies and loot don't get a chance to spawn and you must be a certain distance away for loot to spawn, so once you drive into the town, it says "na dude, no loot for you, ou be too close". This is done to prevent people from hopping from server to server in high yield and military loot spawn areas and just taking everything. 2) Perhaps when you are in a vehicle, you are not really a player, or seen on the server as one. I noticed you have to get out of vehicles for zombs to spawn. I could be wrong as I didn't really test it.

Check out this awesome weirdness. 4am PST last night we joined US 625 (or 652...), me and a friend decided to go kill snipers in Cherno. I took out 2 ourof 3 guys on that middle roof with a lee enfeild. I think I FAPsed it, have to check. Anyways, the third guy got me. Disconnect, disconnect, OK. The usual routine. I loaded in in less than 10 seconds! Not in Cherno though, so I respawned. 6 seconds later I'm in Kamenka. Respawned again. 6 second, maybe even less from the hitting OK and I'm in game ready to go. It was awesome. That is how it should be! But a very rare occurance. Soon after, we died in Cherno again and it took 5-10 min to get in.

When you have a game where players invest in their characters and part of the experience of the game is to progress the character, hacking is a huge deal. If this was CoD and someone was hacking, no big deal, switch servers and play on. But when you have a character alive for multiple days, survive Cherno, Elektro, Staroy and NWAF only to get hatcheted to death by some god mode ball sack, the game starts to lose its appeal. As a party, we no longer build up bases and search for vehicles because of bugs and hackers. No point in running and fixing a vehicle for an hour if the game is going to glitch out and destroy the car as soon as you put the last wheel on (happened twice), or the server wipes your bus and 2 cars just cause (we know it was server because server restarted after vehicles were saved multiple times, we logged for all of 10min came back and cars were gone). No point in setting up tents far from the coast only to get killed by someone teleporting ON TOP of you. Just today, I killed a guy on US 625 who had ghille, gps, as50 and nothing else. Not even a pack. Couldn't loot anything and couldnt hide body. Funny thing is, he used his hacks to kill newbs spawning on the beach and got killed by me, a 1hr old character with an AKM. The point is this. Hackers are killing this game. Thats exactly what they want, and they are doing it pretty well. There are 2 ways to stop them. 1. Do not allow for privately owned servers. That would get rid of a lot of admin abuse and give the devs a lot of control over who to ban and how to do it. 2. Go standalone with something BASED on the Arma engine that doesn't even have menus for spawning things in. If you remove the function, no one can exploit it. This will not stop wall hackers (client side). Without literally millions of dollars, this game will not go standalone. We are talking Blizzard level. We are talking about Diablo 3 hardcore. Those guys spend mucho denero on secure servers and on thwarting off hackers, and plenty of accounts do anyways. I have sworn off DayZ on multple occasions due to hackers. But I always come back... its just that good.

I;ve noticed that even when there is no loot or only trash loot, backpacks are always there. They don't spawn and despawn the same way other loot does.
-
On a side note. The way servers are handled is kind of a mess. I'm sure you are aware, but a lot of server hosters are doing some pretty douchy stuff thats not allowed, and no one is really enforcing. Not sure how to fix it. You hosting them is too much on your plate while your developing, but if you look at games like WoW and Diablo 3, they host their own servers because people invest lots of time and even money into building their characters and they don't want to leave the gaming experience in the hands of some random hoster. I get it, right now, neither time nor money could be put into this, but something to consider considering the popularity of the game.

My observations on latest patch. Server Issues: 1. Tents are still unreliable. We have tried and cannot figure out when they actually save their inventories. 2. Zombies do spawn rather erratically, and sometimes they are broken and stuck in place. 3. Loot spawns are better, but are still often broken. Just ran through Elektro on US 236 (all of it) fresh spawn, and not a single useful item in firehouse, grocery store, 2 high yields, church and 3 cottages. 4. Our very remote camp had three vehicles before 6PM. Server restarted and 15 min later all vehicles were gone. They were saved multiple times by multiple users. 5. Z glitched out and spawned ON ME while walking through a door. Broke my legs. I saw him suddenly appear directly infront of me for a split second, legs broke, life down to 6k, and then he was gone. Ninja Zed. 6. PVP and sync is much better. 7. Often get ren and yellow chains. May pertain to quality of server. 8. Zeds are deaf. At least they have hawk eyes. I think a good balance would be to turn down the site by 25% and increase the audible range by 25% or so. 9. Less hackers since 208. 10. A few times, on Veteran servers, I was hearing people talking in chat. Last time I heard that they were in Stary, and I spawned in Berezino. I have no idea how or why. Thats all for now...

US 236 God Mode, Teleporting, Hatchet bastard
dimak415 posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well, it happened again. Server: US 236 Location: Just East of Lake Prud in the field at a Helo Crash Time: 10:04PM PST Latest Beta, Latest Dayz, Latest BE (obviously useless) What Happened: God Mode Hatcheting player teleported directly behind me, Dima Karpa, and my bud JestyrSaavy and hatcheted both of us, taking about 4 shots from a M4a1 CCO and more than a clip of MP5SD. After killing me, he calmly picked up my CCO while Jestyr unloaded on him. He then teleported behind Jestyr and killed him as well. This exact thing happened to me 5 days ago. I didn't have FRAPS on this time, but this dude had some custom skin, it looked like a mask on his face. I absolutely hate to say it, but the hackers won. I can't continue playing this game. Its not a matter of loot, its not a matter of guns, all of that is replaceable, but part of the fun of this game is making progress with your buds, and when you get killed by some dickless hacker every 3 days, and spend half of your time running through the woods to regroup with your buds, the entire game becomes a frustrating and epic waste of time. BattleEye is the most worthless piece of software I have ever seen. The system of banning BY SERVER instead of having master Ban List that blacklists IPs and GUIDs from the Hive is useless, as a hacker gets banned from one, they just move on to the next. In fact, I'm pretty certain that wouldn't help because these a**holes have probably found a way to generate random GUIDs. I can deal with the bugs, I can deal with the broken zombies, tents, guns, backpacks, vehicles, servers. Whatever. Sh*t happens. But these hackers could very well be the end of an amazing project. -
I don't know if you've listened to any of Rocket's live streams, but he wants this to be a player generated MMO. He wants users to create cities and bases, currency, IE a real post apocalyptic zombie world. Comparing this game to Battlefield and CoD is ridiculous, no matter how popular those games are. Go play a small map on Arma II if that what you are looking for. The goal is to build a "realistic" zombie infested world, and adding realism has everything to do with that. Though, I will say, I should probably have been adding my comments to the suggestions page and not the rolling update page.

WHOA! That gives me an idea. What if you ahd to find PARTS to BUILD GUNS! I know it would be a serious hurdle with the Arma engine, but imagine crafting your own weaponry. You'd have to find stocks, barrles, the works. Maybe have some alternates. That would be awesome, and I agree, military weapons and ammo are too easy to find. We had 3 snipers in our squad at one point, and 2 of them had m107 and AS50. Thats a little intense, no? I'd like to see clothing too. That would be cool. If you could find different colors and styles so you can identify your team mates. It would take time to loot a bunch of red shirts for example, then have your whole posse rocing red shirts and black jeans or something. Or camo. The possiblities are endless in a standalone, but as an Arma 2 mod, no so much. I doubt anything this cool would happen. I think the best we can hope for as an Arma 2 Mod is better zombies and loot spawns. Let them fix the core of the game, then hopefully port it to standalone.

about 5 min after finding this car and linking with my bud, we hear a rumble going down the road... about an hour after this we were all killed by hackers on US 236 :(

New hack? Entire server population + broken bones = rage

Broken legs in 239 around 1:30am PST. -
Agreed. And according to Rocket's live stream today, he has plns to stop Alt F4ing. I have never alt F4ed in my life, cross my heart. Even when a cheater attacked. I would alt tab, turn on fraps and report, thinking it would do some good. But no. Most servers don't have active admin. And I am now considering alt f4ing when a god mode hatchet rat bastard teleports on top of me... if Rocket gets rid of that, the cheaters will be raping even harder then they are now. Priorities?

US 236 God Mode, Teleporting, Hatchet bastard

I've gotten some PMs about the silenced teleporting hacker. We weren't the only ones. And today, the clan on US 236 is kicking people. 39/40 20 seconds later - kicked. So not only are they kicking for friends, but they haven't responded to this post. I do not recommend this server. -
Rocket (inpersoantor?) in god mode running around Staroy on US193 AZ5 with PROOF

Server - US 193 AZ5 Who I was with -, Dima Karpa (me), Mishka (my bro), [Friendlies] M. Boudreau (our friend) Location - North of tents in Staroy Sabor Time - 5:56pm PST What Happened - Me and two friends were looting 2 bodies after a fire fight when some guy spawned RIGHT behind my friend Mishka wearing Rocket's skin and wielding a hatchet. We lit him up with CZ550, Colt and MP5. I had time to turn FRAPS on and caught the last bit where I put 13 or so MP5 slugs in him. Video below. In the lobby, you could see a guy named Rocket (see pic). He spoke on direct chat yelling things like "Come here, I just want some of your skin" lol. Funny thing is, he had an Australian accent. I didn't catch that in FRAPS because I didn't have it open. I just caught the part where I put 13 shots in him. Anyways... do what you can I spose' -
Ya, he did all the work, I dunno what the hell I was doing going into my gear and stuff... nerves I guess

Thats not fair. If someone who is paying for a server that you play on wants to help other server owners maintain hacker free servers by posting confirmed hacker GUIDs, more power to them. I suppose it is up to other server owners to ban those GUIDs at the moment, and obviously getting them blacklisted from the Hive and mod all together would be the ultimate goal, but far from a priority for the devs. Their is this strange Admin witch hunt going on that I can't explain. Half of these cheat reports point fingers at admin without a shred of evidence. Why would someone who is paying money to host this game deter other players from playing on it? I think that a vast majority of server owners believe in the mod and have its best interests in mind, and hacking is contrary to that.
