A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
dimak415 replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Sweet... so I can play, say... tomorrow? -
What hurdles? The devs of the Oculus claim their SDK and integration is very simple on any engine. VR engine already supports head tracking... what obstacle? I don't think its worth putting on the mod, but the standalone... I've shelled out thousands on my comp (I use it for work as well), so I wouldn't mid spending 300 more for VR goggles. Good IR trackers cost that much.

I might just order a dev kit even though I'm not a dev. I want a pair of these... right meow

GUYS! Check this out... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game and then tell me this wouldn't be absolutely perfect for Dayz! It would mean ultimate immersion. Head tracking would be crucial, and the 3d element in the different environments would be absolutely awesome. Its already gotten critical acclaim including a Best of E3 nomination. Right now the res is 640x800 per eye, but given the fact that they've raised 8 times the money they had hoped to raise, they have stated that they will push it to 1080... PER EYE! The low res version can be picked up for $300 and the high res will be under 1k. Anyways, just dreaming away here. I remember Nintendo's Virtual Boy and how awful it was. I thought we'd be playing in VE goggles a long time ago. Hopefully these pave the way. ROCKET AND DEVS! Get the Dev Kit from Oculus for $300 and INTEGRATE IT INTO THE STANDALONE! pweez

UNOFFICIAL PATCH NOTES 1.7.3 Now in beta. (Not real, silly people)
dimak415 replied to daedrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I uninstalled Arma two days ago. A. Its incredibaly addicting and my productivity has gone down the crapper during a crucial time at work B. The level of frustration and disappointing started to supersede the level of fun. I then read this thread, fired up steam and thought I was going to get fired for sure... until I read on. If only indeed. Maybe its for the better. Let the dogs get introduced, nothing get fixed and the "active players in last 24 hours" statistic continue to drop. I'll hold out until standalone. Hopefully they introduce Oculus Rift... that would be INSANE. Good luck Devs -
Dude, I signed up for the WarZ "preorder" (just my email?). I'm curious. We all are. Thats my point. there is no evidence of this game existing other than some "screenshots". It is ripped off of DayZ down to the backpacks and hats. The developers previous games were no where near as ambitious and even they fell short and finally I am not whining. I am not bitching. I am merely pointing out that this WarZ seems like a scam with its promises of grandeur and awesomeness and imminent release date. The developers are riding the wave of success that is DayZ, playing off of our disappointments with recent builds and desires for a final game to SELL PRESALES. You have my 2 cents, now go ignore them and waste your 5,000. Way to ruin a perfectly enjoyable, sarcastic and humorous thread you ass hat.

Average Life Expectancy up to 65 minutes
dimak415 replied to DeadOnDrugs's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't imagine how this is possible considering me and my group can't stay alive longer than for an hour without getting blowed' up by hackers. The more interesting statistic is the quickly growing Unique Players vs the quickly falling Unique Players in Last 24 Hours. More and more people jumping on the bandwagon, only to get killed by haxxors and bugs, never to relog. Quiet sad indeed. -

How come my uber awesome real life in-game screen caps don't show up? I used the image utility to embed them... sheesh, is the forum as broken as the game? :(

Hey guys! Have you heard of this new game "ApocalypseZ" coming out in 13 days? It's amazing. The developers promise: 50,127 square miles of terrain including a detailed, true to life map of New York City! (O wait, scratch that... smaller than Cherno) Servers capable of hosting 649 players! In game purchasing of your own servers! Zombies you can train and put a saddle on, for faster transport across the vast terrain! Customizable guns! Put a lazer dot, flashlight, bipod on on your m4a1! Don't forget to add a 203 bean launcher! One for every rail! Vehicles vehicles vehicles! (maybe) Hardcore and softcore modes, for those more privy to skinamax (leaves more to the imagination). Below are some screenshots. Don't forget to preorder for 50 CASH MONEYZ.

Here is "MY" Opinion on the DAYZ WARZ Battle...
dimak415 replied to SteveZGaming's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The WarZ... a shitty developers empty promises and pretty pictures intended solely for the purpose of generating CASH FUCKIN' MONEYZ in presales via riding the DayZ wave. POINT. BLANK. PERIOD. -
Ok. Last time: Virtual Reality Engine 4 is what is used for ArmaIII. When Rocket and BI say they will use Arma III's engine, they mean VR4. Standalone VS Mod: Mod = modification of an existing game. In the case of the Arma series and games like Half-Life, Arma is pretty open to modding, but there are things that simply cannot be changed without root access to the game engine, the core components, which a mod does not give you. A developer needs to add the ability to mod which BI has always done, and I applaud them for it. Modding means using the existing recourses to create new stuff. Standalone means using the 3D and Physics Engine (VR4), the CORE COMPONENTS, and the programming of said engines to create whatever you want. Many games used to use Unreal Engine. Hundreds, everything from FPS to RPG to Simulator. The Engine is how stuff gets rendered and how physics work. Point blank period. With Rocket's ability to access the core components of the game, only things pertinent to the game will exist (no more hackers spawning random stuff in). He can add scripts that connect to servers and really dig into the blood and guts of the game. He can CREATE A GAME instead of MODDING AN EXISTING ONE.

Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
dimak415 replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You guys ever see constant death messages from 1 character dying every 3-5 seconds? I have a feeling that its something hackers do to avoid being banned by BE when teleporting. Why? Because if your character sends a message to the server that you dies, than your body "teleports" back to the beach. I know its a stretch, but I was playing on a US 249 which was "hack city bitch, hack hack city bitch", but I didn't really care at this point, as every server I encounter recently is effed up the a. So I'm running to my body after getting killed by a tree. As I approach I hear a chopper, but its all staticy, like direct comms. I realize pretty quickly that its an invisible hacker using direct, and I type "Hey Hacker". He types "Hey Dima. Here". Suddenly, I am decked out with AS50, Ghille, m9sd, food, water, NVGs, Rangefinder... every tool. I didn't ask for it so I figured, what the heck. I ran around like an idiot (lately there is no point in setting up a base or trying to achieve some high end goal), and about 5 min later, this guy gets banned for teleporting by BE. About an hour after that, me and some friend get mowed down by a guy who is teleporting, blatantly and obviously. We were seeing multiple death messages of the same name and saw the same exact message merely seconds before he popped onto our screens. I can't confirm it was the same guy, but I have a hunch that if a death message is received in between teleports, BE thinks its kosher. Hope that helps in some minute way. -
Dude... Have you seen the screen shots? Even the player models are identical. It is pretty blatant. Same pants, shirts, backpacks... even the stupid baseball cap. If the theme of the game was the same but they started from scratch, I wouldn't care, but I agree with Ginger here. They are literally ripping the game from Rocket and us (in a sense), trying to promise an early release to get PREORDERS and are going to release utter garbage. This is a a bunch of greedy fucks trying to cash in on Rocket's globally viral idea. Have you seen their other games? And the engine WarZ is going to be on? Its poop and will never even come close to DayZ and ArmaIII's engine. Back to the topic... ummmm... eh.... you think WarZ will have dogs?
